@@mrsmel269 I'm seriously considering it. I want to get a dual sport to ride from Indiana to the Rockies and do some adventuring there. I sure wish the XR650L was equipped with fuel injection, that's my "con" about it.

@@edeldridge36 look at the new KLR my friend just got one. id deff get one i just wanted the honda easier for me to work on . the klr is 3 " shorter , stock 6 gal tank and frickn led head lights . ill be doing a full review when his get the first oil change . so i can really have some fun. were looking at the 300 for the boss but the 650s are better for highway speed and gear . if i can help with any thing just hit me up.

@@mrsmel269 The KLR is another consideration with the new model being fuel injected but it's a hundred pounds heavier than the XR. I've also considered the Honda CB500X, and the Suzukis but they're not fuel injected either.

Deacon nice thats deff not a bad thing by any means. we got to ride our own rides. do you have any thing done to your brp ??? if not id deff look at a bigger tank. the clark/ims 4 gal (160 ish) is a direct fast bolt up. the 5.8 (220 ish) was a pain in the but but i like the longer range. im going to be putting braided brake lines on soon and have been trying to get a fmf full system but there crazy pricey right now . hope you were out chasing today and thank you for watching

i know what your talking about Peter these girls tend to dance around . i have higher wind on the average 20-30mph and the set of tires im running right now (they almost give me tank slappers all the time im not getting them any more) . theres days if im cooking im pulling up way harder then i should be. hope its all ready the weekend for you and you get to go do some chasing . i just got off of work but its going to rain all weekend so sadly im not sure if i can bust out on something . enjoy it and thank you

golden she deff does good in the 65-80 range but only gets to a 100 ish and when we lived in jax i had junky cars pass me by and i was damn im dead if there not paying attention so we need to be watching every angle when were out on these bikes. i would not be worried about it we just got to know her limits. if you havent looked yet check out the 22 and up klr 650 only reason is it comes with a 5+ gal tank stock and the head lights are frickn bright as heck. seat high is a little lower on them too. i wanted my brp and this one is never going any where but id get the klr too if i wanted a nother adventure for any of the crew. hope this helps some and thank you for watching . ps when you get one let me know so i can check her out

congrats Kade . we had the 250l before she was a sweet scooter too. they have there place for sure but a motorcycles best defense is speed and mobility. ya we were wide open on flat land with some wind. did you get the honda or is it coming ? the only reason i say that (is i love the honda) but if you havent looked at a klr 650 you might want to to. it comes with stuff you would need for the brp stock . both are (bullet proof) the klr has a 5.something gal tank stock, fuel inject, led head lights , lower seat height. honda add on's bigger gas tank, ims/clark 4 gal. get about 160 miles to pushing with a 20 min install time , (had it on our 02 650l) this 5.8 on our 21 took a little more fab work but i wanted the better distance 230miles ish before i need to start to get fuel. i left the gearing stock but put a FRITZCO front sprocket on minimum wear on the output shaft . my alt i have a stock slow jet but put in a 158 main. (jetsrus), i cl'ed a used yoshimura (that really woke her up) i bet the topspeed is up now just havent checked like in this video. i was able to out run the 22 drz 400 sm. were getting braided brake lines soon for her and the drz. look up procycle.com to look at parts and great place for info if you dont all ready know is thumpertalk. when you get her please do a walk around. hope this helps some and let me know if i can help any more and thank you

@@mrsmel269 hello yes i got the fritzco 16 sprocket they are way better then the original one but i changed back to 15 in my opinion bike runs softer and sems the rpms work better maybe if i run highway every day i keep the 16 on the bike but i tink with a passenger and luggage the 15 is better the one on the bike now is from primary drive but fritzco is better anyway top speed is less then 400 rpms diference and the gas seems i get 45 miles per galon whit the 15 and only 38 whit 16 sprocket👍

ya the tanks def sucked peter. i used a 2x4 and a blow dryer to make it fit. your sun would work too. the 16 would be good for road use but stock might be better for off road action in your area. i can bang 90 till i run out of gas no problem with the stock gearing . if you get a new counter sprocket look at the fritzco theres a little more surface area. i just check mine out after about 3600 miles and every thing looked great. hope you were out chasing some today for the both of us enjoy the weekend and thank you

@@mrsmel269 I got new 15 and 16 sprockets. I've heard all the warnings about the narrow nature of the factory one. I have a '97 XR600R that is more set up for off-road. The "L" is kind of my commuter bike around town and I'm hoping to take some short trips up north to Prescott and Jerome.

15t front 42t rear, just switched from front t16. 15x42 is perfect for highway, smooth at 65- 70 and crank up past 80+ easy.

Jim the go pros 5 and up blacks use the gps and go pro quick software but you can edit the videos only post one section at a time and for a little bit go pros quik was not working right so i bought telemetry overlay for about 100.00 i was really hopeing i could use it on my dji videos but so far i havent got that to work . the klx video is gopros telemetry set up if you wanted to compare . so far in the last month thats been working good . hope the morning is starting out good and thank you for watching

Aris Tom ee love our 650l . this is the 2nd one that we had . the first was used and she rocked but had some issues . this one was brand spanking new ;-) and she be with us forever. do your dr's have a bigger gas tanks ? when you score the brp id get a bigger tank. the first one had a 4gal clarke/ims . you can swap to that in 30min ish . the acerbis had fabbing to do but the 4gal got 140-160 miles per tank the 5.8 is 220-240 ish per tank. hope your out chasing today and thank you for watching. not sure if i helped but hope you get one coming . if your close to south dakota lets go chase

@@wrf8245 Compared to the DR650 how is the stock gearing does it pull hard like the DR650? Also, is the stock suspension pretty good? Is it a 6 speed or 5 if you need to get on the highway is it buzzy around 70mph ?

WR F sweet were going to get the klx 300 down the road. i bet its sweet going rolling with your friends . all my friends have street bikes so it just the kids piling on when i got exploring off road . wish i was close id go chasing with you that would be fun. enjoy the night

@@mt1885 the stock gearing is roughly the same, I changed my gears so doesn’t have the top and but acceleration is better. The stock suspension on the dr is very plush compared to almost any dual sport. 70mph is comfortable on the xr, but it is still a “light” bike for highway travel. You will feel it when a semi passes you. It is a 5 speed. You will be hard pressed to find a new one in this current situation. How tall are you and what do you weigh?

hellomynameismikey yes stock gearing on her. we just put a yoish slip on and darn it deff woke her up. when i checked the valves @ 1k i put in a 158 main jet so the slip on was read to be put on . thank you for watching and have a great day .

​@@peterkeyser3141I had two sprockets for mine, one hit about 95 the other was around 88 but I think my tire size contributed to the higher top speed. I think I dropped a tooth in the front and remembered it wheeling a lot easier. Sprockets and tire size make a huge difference

Nice guys i was trying to get so e motard rims yesterday but the guy didn't want to play . I hate running out of gas and wet no less always stinks we got soked to the bone down at bike week at least the temp was in the low 70s and sorry again i just seen all this
