Love your tattoo tour videos. They're so informative, clear, cleverly edited, and well done! It would be awesome if you made more tattoo-related content. Maybe some tips for how you find artists, decide on placement/build sleeves, healing tattoos, a study on the American traditional style, etc? You seem so knowledgeable and passionate about the topic, I think you'd absolutely kill it!
Thank you so much! I’ve been struggling with what I want to do with the channel to be honest. On one hand, I could do more work-related content - which could be possibly good for my career growth….but also, it feels like work. On the other hand, I’m thinking about really diving into tattoo content. It’s more fun, doesn’t feel like work.
@@UXmatt RU-vid is a great creative outlet for exploring your passions and tattoos certainly seem like one of yours! But excited to see your future content, regardless of what avenue you choose.
Yooooo! Legitimately the best tattoo tour video I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot. You have an insane collection! I just started my trad tattoo journey this year, so this was all very valuable info!
Love your tattoos, Matt. I am an assistant professor that found your channel about leaving academia. I have found them very helpful in my own journey. I also have a growing number of American Trad tatts. Your canvas is a beautiful model.
REALLY late reply. My back is all done, save for a final touch up. I'm trying to lose some weight before possibly making a video. I love my tattoos but mostly hate the body they're on (womp womp).
Nicole at Front Street in TC has done a piece for me. I’m from northern Michigan, and Front Street is the only shop in the area I’ll go to. Nicole and Matt are great. A new hobby of mine is traveling around the country and getting work from different traditional artists. Scott Huttenmaier, Brandon Cutter and Drake Babbs at Keepsake Tattoo in OKC were in December. Steve Zimovan and Heidi Failmezger at Remember Me Tattoo in Asheville NC were last month. Next up is Zack Deaton at Made To Last Tattoo in Charlotte NC in a couple weeks. I have an addiction at this point haha.
Thank you! I have a ton of religious trauma otherwise I LOVE the design . I just started my back with Becca Lerner about 3 weeks ago. I’m going to Indy next week for a back to back session to finish lines and maybe shading.
I'm in Michigan and going to Lucky Monkey for my traditional sleeve. Found an artist I jive with and stuck with him. 6 sessions in 3 months so far, and we're almost done. Can't wait to finish the arm, but then it just means it's on to the next area, lol...
Thank you! A few pieces are from Toco-Oco (wolves/masked figure). Miru Brugmann (Etsy) folk-y ceramic mask.. Josh Thomson for one of the portraits. Otherwise, it's mostly random stuff I've found while thrifting over the years.
I haven’t posted in a long while, BUT I have gotten a lot of tattoos since this was posted: backpiece (done). Added panther/2 cobras to my stomach (both Becca Lerner) other knee is done. And a few pieces here and there. Currently working on finishing my legs. If I get a chance and some motivation at some point, I’ll try to dust the channel off and post an update video.
We live in Pittsburgh now. We only lived in Ann Arbor for a year. I SHOULD have gotten something at Name Brand (really want a dragon from Julian). Now, it's a 4-hour drive, but it's on the list.
