Gotta love Bmw. 165 Claimed crank. 164 wheel. Probably 180-185 crank in reality. Good on them.

@@Big1_ i Agree, but that’s what manufacturers claim. Just like “dry weight”. Means nothing. Give me the weight 100% fueled, ready to ride, not some imaginary figure with no fluids, no battery etc.

depends on type of dyno, atmospherics etc. if Dynojet they are known to throw higher numbers

Have been binge watching your S1000R content. Just want to say I really appreciate all the effort and value you are providing I am very likely going to be placing a deposit down on an S1000R this winter and as a youtuber myself will be likely carrying out similar mods when I do so. Shiv is the man. Despite the lack of shiftcam, that's some really good power; about the same as my XR with headers and tune.

Man that shiftcam on the RR is unreal. I wish there was an option for the XR/R for a RR motor. That said, this new motor on the XR/R is something else. Enough that I am trading my 2020 RR for a 21 XR. Still will miss the insanity of the RR, but the XR is plenty of power.

I did the dyno with Leiker slip-on and 98oct. gasoline. Best run was 167,5 bhp. So that 164 is just in line..

I love these videos. I always baseline my stock bikes on the dyno. That dip in the powerband is nothing like the K67 (2020+ RR). There is a 50 whp on the RR in 2nd gear. I had a similar dip to the 22 R on my RR after my flash, it wasn't until I install my Akrapovic headers that the minor dip disappeared.

Many conditions and variables play into dyno results, so don't trust one more than another take them all, including this one, with a grain of salt.

Any plans for the new Speed Triple 1200 on the channel, Bill? I picked one up last weekend and curious on your opinion how it stacks up to its rivals. I can't get a test ride on any of em where I'm at. (Tuono was on top of my buying list but after watching your content... yeah. 😅)

@@CaliMotoTV Certainly! Very respectable! It should be even closer to the Euro 5 Streetfighter (which has been reported being down at the top end compared to the Euro 4 one). So, maybe only 10-15 hp difference when the CATs are out!

Hey Bill, that’s impressive vs claimed power outputs mate. Also noticed that you have brembo callipers, front and rear… In Australia we get the BMW branded Hayes callipers. Are your Brembo standard?? Cheers mate!

Thanks Bill and Jim👏👍. maybe a question. What I noticed is that many motor brands in the specs mention the HP, however when you check, it is most of the time lower than the specs: how is this possible. Example: Ducati Multistrada V4S: specs 170 hp on the Dyno 164hp🙃

Manufacturers state "crank horsepower", where as a dyno reads wheel horsepower, which is lower than crank because its measured at the wheels. Some horsepower is lost in the drive train, and on chain-driven bikes there is a lot less hp lost. So like on this bike, bmw states 165hp, the dyno reads 154hp at the rear tire. This is a simple explanation of why, but I hope it helps somewhat.

@@johnnazar180 ye... been wondering too cos at 0-60 it easiely keeps up w the big boys and it is not even that lighter. mayb they don't want the big sales. weird... imagine, they intentionally shot in theyr own knee to sell more s1000rr, this is the engine w/o shiftcam oO

Before you had your S1000R de restricted was the throttle a bit snatchy ? Mine seems really jumpy at the moment, have done 500mls now and ready for 1st service, do you think its because of the restriction ? Cheers magnus

whoa hey whoa, I'm not selling my Aprilia....hahaha. "rear wheel..." Impressive considering they only claim 165hp! BMW is one of the only brands that understates their real numbers. Did you record this with the zv-1 and was the screen flipped out a few times?

How can the torque be so high at the wheel? I would be guessing it would be around 78-80 but not 87!!! Are you sure that this is torque at the wheel?

@@CaliMotoTV There must be something wrong with you dyno becuase at brentuning they have a dyno graph when they test the 2021 BMW S1000R and it puts out 150 whp and 78 wtq stock and in stage 2 tune it puts out 163whp and 84 wtq. @@CaliMotoTV Yes the charts are from the new s1000r that came out in 2021. They also have a dyno of they old S1000r 2017-2020 model that puts out 138 whp and 76wtq stock on theire dyno.... When they tested the new 2021 model it put out 150 whp and 78 wtq stock so your dyno must show to much.... Have you tested other bikes in stock form on your dyno so you can compare your stock whp numbers with other dyno testers numbers of the same bikes in stock form?

@@CarsAndMotorcycles as much as I love bren tuning, those baseline numbers from them aren't nearly accurate. It's just marketing.. However, Bren tuning does make very good power and transforms the bike.

OK, I feel vindicated:) I've been saying this for a while that the s1000r has as much (more?) power than the tuono etc.
