Thank you Glenn. What an awesome weekend it was and to watch my two boys wheel their cars around so well was a real treat! So many great cars and drivers and the atmosphere was perfect
Ha Ha, that was me calling out to my 2 sons on the stand. Thank you. It was an awesome weekend and everyone who attended had a blast. Learning to film and edit has been a challenge but when I am able to post up this kind of content it's very worth it.
What an amazing event!! The whole day looked like so much fun. So many different kinds of RC out on the track and everyone just out to enjoy themselves. 👍
Hi ya David. We hold a 2 day vintage Festival each year on the western side of Sydney. Imagine 2 days of amazing vintage fun and thats what we are spoilt with
@@Bormac073 if you guys ever come to Cornwall in the UK look me up haha!😉 Man l would of loved to of been part of this event! I agree also completely that vintage/rere rc racing/meets beats modern race event hands down for fun!👊
@@Bormac073 Well worth the ticket👊🤩 Awesome event and thanks Jason for taking the time to film, edit etc for us. The hobby is really doing well at the moment! Not golden era peaks of course but definitely still really thriving! rere cars from tamiya, Kyosho, Schumacher etc have helped a lot to fuel the fire and to think l was so sceptical about rere kits to start with lol! But nothing but a good thing for sure without a doubt! Clubs on the net have helped massively over the years too and now RU-vid to build on this even more and may it long continue! Amazing to think the kids with say a TD4 or TD2 will probably be doing as we are in 30/40 years time! Tamiya and co need to keep making new designs cars now though for the next 40 plus group of old farts to hunt out in the future haha! Don't ya just love this hobby!! Cheers James.
Dude this was so incredibly well done I’ve watched it twice now - oh man so many great cars you dudes are doing it right - a million thanks to you Jason for posting this 😃😃😃
Thank you Wade. We have been very fortunate to have been doing vintage meeting since around 2006. They just keep getting bigger and better. We are 6 weeks from the Victorian 'VINTAGE BASH' so there will be another 2 day event coming not to far away
Now that was an absolute treat...classics galore! Thank you so much for sharing this! This was like mega Boom!! Happy days fantastic don't know what else to say! Just blown away awesome!
Thank you M-B. These events are sensory overlaod. This year I set up my 2 boys to race and combined we had 6 classes each day to race in. To say I had my hands full was an understatement. Lord knows how I managed to film anything at all but it was well worth the effort
@@Bormac073 haha full on by the sound of it! Brilliant event! Seeing the Fox's and Boomerangs really took me back to the golden era and my racing days when it was all about the fun and no real serous stuff! Loved watching this vid thanks again actually l think l am going to watch it again 😉👍
Thank you Lee. Ive been learning to edit over the past year and I've got the hang of things from a technical aspect now. Yes it's time consuming with respect to trying to develop and sort footage into a story or format which will be entertaining for the viewer.
What memories. I used to club race at a place in Phoenix AZ called SRS in the 90's 2 - 3 times a week. One day some guy and his wife and kid showed up in a old camper truck and started racing with us. The dad wasn't that good but he was cool as hell. The kid turned out to be Ryan Mayfield.
Cheers for the video Jason, looked like an awesome weekend of vintage goodness. Track looks ace as well, being in the UK never really had chance to run on a dirt track, for 1/10th it’s mainly Astro outdoors.
Love this so many great cars, I especially loved those miniature polish bottles on the Avante - so fitting for the ultimate shelf king! (see what I did there).
wow brilliant some great old school RCs on this so good to see them running and racing :) excellent subscribed :) wild willies were ripping.. loving the Hot shot action
Very nice, I had/have a manta ray, dyna storm, rc10, b2, losi xx4, Schumacher cat 2000, rc10 b4, rc8, rc8t electric. Tamiya desert gator, super hornet. Corally Kronos. I like rc cars all my live. Also I have a gold rc10 which is modified to race.
Very cool, not enough rc10's and 10t's for my liking..;) Wow Takis collection of competition Tamiya buggies is cool, don't think I've seen that many comp Tamiya buggies in one place before. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Yes Castle Hill is around 1/2 an hour from St Ives where the 89 Ifmar was run. Not the same as it once was at least Casso is still all dirt. Its an awesome facility
Wow, what a joy to see all of those cars in your collections. Do most of you commit to one transmitter such as a Futaba and just install the same receivers in each of your cars? I would think that would eliminate having to carry around the stock transmitters. Or am I incorrect? Thanks for sharing, guys.
There was a NOVICE class as per the title. This was the sole exception made as it was for first timers and there was no limit to vehicle type/age or even motor raced. It's just an introduction class mainly made up of children.
awesome stuff Jason. Great filming and editing too. Highlights for me, the XX and XX4 at 5:50 both look incredible. But, the real star of the show, is the vast variety of cars ! that there are so many different cars there speaks to the fact that it's mostly about just having a fun time !
Thanks Stu! Yes mate you're right. Scotts Losi XX & XX4 cars were awesome. There were more cars there the same but I had my camera malfunction and I lost some footage. Still it was an awesome event loaded with every kind of car and driver. Thank you on your compliments in regards to my efforts with video and editing. Its taken me a while to get this far but its paying off. Its a pleasure to be rewarded with such positive feedback
Well done to the camera operator, for once I get to see how the track smooth with good camera moves. I think most of the vintage class are taking it easy on there rare cars 🤔🤣
Well done on a another great video Jason. Your boys were really at each other with their Losi buggies. Must have been busy weekend for you running a few classes, helping your boys with their cars and filming too. Feel free to ask me to do some filming next time.
Thank you Michael. The Saturday really wore me out. Ive been dealing with busted ribs for 5 weeks now so sleep has been minimal. It was still so worth the effort. The boys are a bit competitive with one another and I have promised them for years I would get them racing so that weekend was their time to have a go. I was proud of how well they were performing on track by the end and it showed in some of the video. I appreciate your offer and there will always be more meetings.
Thank you Chris. Thank you and yes the boys drove better than I might have expected. Before the end they were driving so clean and doing consistently well. Definitely a very proud Dad moment there
Definitely a wicked video. I enjoyed this thoroughly. I thought your kid did a great job using the camera for someone who I'm assuming is pretty young. You gotta learn somehow! Must have been a fun event!
Thanks James. Yes he did ok when he filmed that particular class but I had to edit about 99% of it out just to catch a little watchable footage. I made this event more about them if anything. They had such a great time
Hi, this is a great video! I would love to come down and take some cool stills and May be even bring my hotshot! Do you know when the next vintage meet is? Is there a calendar of vintage races you can recommend? Hopefully I can even get some footage of your car. Dave Turner
Sydney has 3 tracks however Casso is the home of vintage racing. Ive watched your videos. Do you race or just rag your cars out on the road or out in the park?
@@Bormac073 I wish I had a place to go racing I mean they're tracks around me but they're kind of far. And my physical limitations have a problem with that too so I rag them in the park.
Ok cool. Your messages almost come off as if you are questioning me/us with the content of the events we host here. It just sounds like you are almost complaining and as a quality content creator I wonder if you are only posting these comments to drag me down???
I dare say you aren't aware of the full depth and breadth of the vintage r/c world. Many of us at these events were racing as early as the mid 1980's and this Fox is sporting a very popular 3rd party 'EAGLE' body from back in the day. Not everyone wants box art or box correct. Racing can be about your own individuality. Rarely would any racer back in our day rock up with 'box art'. It was about your own team colours and designs
Hello Marcus. The Kyosho Ultima pictured in the thumbnail belongs to Rob in Victoria who made the trip up to Sydney to compete in the event. Sporting a period 3rd party lexan body which still incorporates the original cage. Not to be confused with a rerelease, this car is 1980's goodness through and through.
@@Bormac073 thx for your response! I was indeed confused, because the shape of the body reminded me of a kyosho pro x and the cage and chassis of the ultima 😅
Hi Brad. The Hot Shot class allows any car made that utilises the Hot Shot gearbox design such as HotShot2,SuperShot,Boomerang,BigWig,SuperSabre etc.. Essentially by design a fun 'SPEC' class which has grown very successful amongst racers at our events. My advice to you is don't take everything so literal my friend.
The surface of the track ruined it. Find a plot, dig it up, and let them run. That's how they did it back then. It used to take a range of skills to drive tracks. Now it's all about reflexes. BORING.
Booooo. 😆😆😆 I dont know where you've been my friend but when comparing the Castle Hill track to most others any where on the globe, this track is about as much 'off road' as you'll find. Still true to the style of tracks we raced on here back in the 80's, at least it's not Carpet or Astro or these other super modern moto cross style/bmx tracks that are around now. Rather than knock it, how about you just come drive it or come be a part of these great events. After all, anyone can recline on their couch with a tv remote and offer criticism. Come be a part of the fun and then offer me your opinion then.
