Indy car is popular in USA/Canada. But that’s it, but with more ex F1 drivers joining IndyCar, it’s slowly helping with the international popularity it deserves.

It was Rossi's for the taking. Power was just masterful how he managed the gap/his tires to the end.

Hats off to Power and Rossi. Both showed incredible skill in different ways. One more lap would have surely seen an epic battle

It also doesn’t help they seem to be moving further to streaming only. All practices and qualifying even for the 500 plus the Toronto race, all streaming. They seem to forget the rising costs of everything including food, plus not everyone even lives in locations where streaming is possible.

I was so mad when he didn't win

There's an official live streaming by IndyCar available for 40USD a year, with the American commentary. Until the Indy500 it was free. That was the way to go for me here in Germany. Don't know if it's cheaper than sky in UK. The racing, the original commentary and no ads, that's worth it for me.

it shines a bright light on just how slow jj is compared to top level indycar talent. good on him for giving it a shot, but he has a LONG way to go.

No, it is a new layout.

Push to pass. They have a certain allotment of higher turbo boost that they can use during the race. There are no "zones" like DRS uses. So you end up with closer racing with more variations in strategy, like we saw here at Detroit. I hope F1 goes back to KERS or something, because the drs and strategy has become too predictable. I still enjoy it but man, it can get dull sometimes. Which reminds me, push to pass can be used defensively as well, so a pass isn't inevitable like a DRS zone often is.

When you see the three sets of green lights come on the steering wheel like at 14:24, that's when Push to Pass is active. F1 also implemented DRS because the previous aero package created too much dirty air, where the new setup relies more on ground effect than the wings. Indycar basically made the same changes to their aero package at the start of the 2018 season. F1 might get rid of DRS now that the new aero package is in.

Both Twin Turbo V6s

@@Kilo-sz4ch The f1 car has a single turbo 1.6L V6 (which makes no sense, why put a single turbo on a V engine...) and Indycar has a 2.2L Twin Turbo V6 which makes it sound meatier and the notes the engine hits are better too.

@@nibv6996 F1 engines exhaust flows to the inside of the v making it better for a single turbo, indycars are the opposite, the hot side is on the outside of the v.

@@flyingdutchman916 It still chokes the engine, one turbo has to feed 2 cylinder banks, why not put a twin turbo? I'd put less stress on the compressor itself and boost power output aswell, the real reason they went single turbo is to reduce consumption and to be able to fit an ERS to it, they did this mostly for this bullshit hybrid system.

@@nibv6996 on a large engine you have a valid point, these are not, they are very small.

It's only a 'racetrack' for odd weekends as it's just part of the road system on the temporary circuit in Belle Isle, maybe next year when it moves to downtown Detroit..but I bet that'll be a temp' circuit also...besides, surely there are many hundreds of roads in abandoned neighbourhoods to pick from and if there's money for the 'problem' of racing street cars then there's money to buy a few bags of cement to fill in the worst pot holes lol...so where's the problem here, the police couldn't keep up with it if some guys took the trouble to ORGANISE !!
