Grosjean has always been a driver I've liked to watch in Indy and F1. I'm often amazed that he hasn't injured his hands or his head more considering how often he pounds both hands on either the steering wheel, on his helmet, or on both. Those are practically his signature moves.😆

I might be alone in this but I actually really like the rough nature of this Detroit track. It reminds me of the really old F1 tracks that makes for a really big driver and engineering challenge. Unfortunately the two Kiwi Scotts got a bit unlucky during the race but what a race it was!!

This track didn’t look promising Friday and Saturday, but it was awesome to race on. Some smoothing in areas and maybe a repave to widen turn 1 and this isn’t too bad. Attendance was much bigger than you could get at Belle Isle

I can see this as One of the Reasons why they switched, Belle Isle Was Good But if you wasn't a race fan than you would simply avoid going to the isle those days. Downtown Brings much more people do to its Abundance of Casinos, Restaurants, Bars, Night Clubs, And Shopping, so no matter what there was always going to be a big crowd, especially on weekends.

F1 is European so the big boys have all the money and advantages just like in football (or soccer). Indy is more driver skill as the cars are for the most part on an even playing field.

My hot take: Europe is rooted in feudal politics: Kings and nobles ran everything, they love royalty. There’s a deep underlying belief that the world is inherently unfair, and the very few will dominate the rest. F1 is a dramatization of that philosophy, with a few filthy rich teams slaughtering the other slightly less filthy rich teams, while the peasants watch on and mildly applaud, dreaming of a world where they were the nobles they both idolize and resent.

IndyCar series is how racing should be: everyone's got a shot at the win. F1 is stagnant, has been for years since the days of Schumacher. Granted, Schumi won everything for a minute but the other drivers like Alonso, Montoya, Kimi, DC, didn't just lay over and let him win.WEC is a whole other beast, up there with IndyCar.

What F1 lost was the aggressive do or die attitude that drivers used to have in the V10 and V8 era and what we see in IndyCar every week. Yes, there used to be the top cars like Ferrari, Mclaren, Williams, BMW and later Redbull. But for position and when racing eachother drivers used to fight and claw for points. They weren't there to have a friendly fight. To used to race eachother hard and push eachother off the tracks. Now, you basically see drivers waving other cars by with no serious intention of defending because all they care about is simulated laptimes and tyres. Indy still has what F1 lost. Refueling, drivers going flat out with every man for himself. Hard racing. Start to looking forward to every IndyCar race and tuning out of F1.

F1 became much more about conservation and saving the cars! If you force teams to use all compounds in a race (therefore forcing 2 stops at least) they would push much more

I agree with the tires, Pirelli either has the tires way too prone to exploding, or not different enough to encourage a lot of tire strategy. At least with mandated pit stops, you could have more durable tires at the very least, though the grip levels still likely need to be a lot more different to encourage tire choices. Indy car has refueling, so might as well change tires while they’re at it, F1 doesn’t really have anything forcing tire changes, outside of them literally exploding.

F1 should just allow refueling, I don’t care if it’s dangerous, F1 is too vanilla and safe. The difference in performance is so wild, strategy could help offset the massive engineering differences.

I miss Belle Isle, that was such an awesome track with a really cool Winner's tradition at the fountain. But this put on a good show. Track is narrow and ugly at places, but it was a good show.

Surprising a pretty decent race, plenty of passing and wasnt a demo derby cautionfest like Nashville. Although Belle Isle still looks better and i think is still the better track.

The start is also the best time to gain positions before you have to fight traffic if you are fast. It is a catch 22 if you do not qualify well.

This Ugly track lead to some extreme and exciting turns, even though it was tough on some drivers, it was a show that was new to both indycar and Detroit, glad it was hosted well and here’s hoping more track for next year
