All the tailgate features you noted with the exception on the power close are available on the Gen 2. Seems like you have low optioned Raptor for your Gen 2.
Am I the only person who thinks the Gen 2 Raptor has the best front and back headlight design? 🤔 It looks more aggressive and flashy the new front and back headlights look to plain and small
I know that Ford may not be the most luxurious vehicles out there but if there is one thing that they do extremely well is their exterior lighting. When I see these lights at night, they are just so crisp and bright.
20:08 is part of ford blue cruise autonomous driving system, there’s also two cameras located on either end where the hazard switch is to monitor driver eyes when blue cruise active. Blue cruise is subscription based and on select roads or highways.
Ford did a good job improving the exhaust sound. These things remain so capable. 450 hp is plenty for a truck especially considering the significant torque.
The little thing you referenced on the driver's side windshield pilar is actually a camera, so you can be watched for safety reasons. When I was ordering my 2022 Raptor my sales rep told me what it was. I have a 2017 that will have 100K miles on it soon and it has never been in the shop.
I call bullsh!) when he says that the 2020 does not come with the rear tailgate step. I have a 2020 and mine has a tail gate step so I don't know what he is talking about!! Anything brand new is going to make the previous year look and sound old
I love that truck they did a great job my 14 has about 130 thousand miles on her I like the ecoboost it's a reliable engine so maybe when the dealer mark up goes down and shit goes back to normal im thinking in about 2 years if it's smooth sailing till than we should be good I'd take that one on 37s over the trex any day .
Excellent review - tons of information packed into an entertaining and digestible package. Awesome action shots and great commentary. This really is one incredible truck, particularly with the 37s. Love the updates and especially the new exhaust, which finally matches the Raptor’s personality.
Bro alot of those features on the gen 3 I have on my gen 2 lmao. You just don't have a very optioned out gen 2 no offense meant. Also the production quality on this video is damn good man you guys do some good work!
They sound like sport cars… sounds good but I’m gonna miss the V8. Thanks previous gens for ruining the air😐 now I won’t be able to own a V8 before I die😑
It’s not previous gen, its called more efficient engine with turbos, I’ve been driving 6 cylinder Porsches with 450 HP & I have no problem passing plenty of V8s, that’s last gen thinking, look up 4 cylinder Indy cars…..
Concise, focused and hella informative 👍🏾💪🏾. Thanks for making this one bro! I’m currently in a Gen 2 18 looking to pull the trigger soon on Gen 3 but wanting to see the Raptor R first.
That "thing" you were wondering about is one of the two Blue Cruise sensors. that one to the left of the steering wheel, on the driver's side door and the second sensor is on the dash, top right of the screen. You can drive hands free BUT those two sensors are watching your eyes to make sure you have your eyes on the road.
After reading the caption BTS army's be like smooth like butter like criminal undercover Gon pop like trouble breakin in to your heart like that cool shade ........ BTW I'm also BTS army 💜💜💜 after reading caption I remember BTS butter 🤣
Still rockin' my first gen '12 SCrew, in great shape and runs like a top....gonna run it into the ground. ...plus I can't afford $100K plus for a new one up here in Canuckistan.
Dude you have some errors The tail gate steps are the same the white truck didn’t have it. The power up is the only difference. Same with the cameras in the mirrors.
The 2019 Raptor has the tail gate step - I find it hard to believe the 2020 doesn’t. It is optional - not standard if that’s what you mean. The stickers on the front and rear are a waste of money, imo. The rear suspension change and 37” look awesome!
The Gen 2 did have the tailgate step option. Likely what happened was whoever built the Gen 2 chose not to add that $500 option and neither did I when I built my 2019 Raptor. It's really not useful, especially when considering how much the option is.
great truck and performance but its funny that an XLT 5.0 with a custom exhaust will sound a trillion times better than even the new updated exhaust. new exhaust admittedly sounds good but doesnt fit the look of the truck. wish Ford made a sedan with this beast of a V6 but 'Muricans only buy trucks. Would love this in a Focus and/or Taurus.
Sorry, but you're uninformed.....you obviously are oblivious to the details and only know the bare minimum. For instance, the Gen2 Raptor was OBVIOUSLY not optioned with the tailgate step where as the Gen3 had that option checked. That is NOT a Gen3 feature......SMH
For more of the extreme guys a gen 2 would still be better, people will find the rear 5 link layout will be extremely limiting when it comes to adding rear travel. The ability to plug in Long travel leafs and cut the bed and run a 18" shock, with out redesiging the rear suspension design. But stock for stock the 3rd Gen will be a better design
A lot of the stuff you were saying in the beginning about the 2020 wasn't right. They do have a full 360 "birds eye" camera as well as offering the tailgate step
After owning a 2016 F165 for 5 years. I gotten used to the 2.7 aka 165 cuin twin turbo v6 sound. I have 81k miles and both of my turbos are good. My last fill up was 19 mpg mix driving. I used HP Tuner to raise my top speed to 120 mph. My stop/start does not work anymore. No I did not turn it off.
Another great review, as always! And what a beautiful truck! I've been looking this over, and as tempting as it would be to get the Performance 37 Gen 3 Raptor, I'd likely stick to the 35 Gen 3 Raptor, as long as it still came with the springs rather than leafs. It's funny though, what really stands out to 59 year old me, that foldable flat worksurface in the front center console. That would be so incredibly useful to me. Frankly, I saw your 2021 Cadillac Escalade review, and almost got one. Had it had that foldable flat work surface in the front center console, I probably would have. Actually, the 22" wheels on the Escalade worried me some, so I'd still have had to figure out if I could get it with 20"ers. Don't have that problem with these Raptors. And from what I am hearing, the Gen 3 especially drives incredibly smooth on the highways as well. Wish it had the Platinum's massaging and fully reclining seats, oh well, nothing's perfect, but this Raptor looks pretty darn close. Love your reviews, and love this truck! Thumbs up, once again!
While both gens of Raptors have substantial hp, a V6 engine doesn't feel as exciting as the V8, and that Ford should have stuck with a more traditional & powerful engine 💪🏻

certainly a nice toy for us who describe ourselves as "pick-up-men"... BUT exactly because of that I am also afraid that we are getting pushed into an evolution which I am not really interested in: transforming our "work-horses" utility vehicles into "fun-vehicles" (a similar evolution as the one taken by 4x4`s, see Land Rover Defender). I REALLY DO NOT CARE about 2 lights more here, and a little bit more chrome there, or about some inches more here, and a new kind of paint down there, about a certain "feeling" or "image"... the only things that really interest me are the ones concerning environmental issues, active/passive security, fuel economy, ergonomics, multi-functionality, electronics (or rather the lack of it), maintenance costs, etc! I already had to abandon the 4x4's market, I hope I will not have to abandon the pickup`s also! What alternative would remain then? an utility van? I would really welcome an alternative that would focus on plain spartan functionality and minimalism, for all of us that are not riding the wave of the masses...
First time watching your videos and I subscribed. You put so much effort into the video. I truly hope your channel blows up, and it will as long as you keep up the same energy and level of detail. Excited to see where this channel goes. Cheers!
Loved the walk through...im in 🇬🇧so dont get that spec..if i was in🇺🇸i would dego get a F150 full spec ( dont have that Ford model here unfortunately)....👍🏻
That s a dream for me , because I live in Turkey 🇹🇷 and always will be my dream car .... ( I am an aircraft designer but believe me I can't buy even if ranger ...)
That little thing is for the Blue Cruise system that will implement the self driving feature, such as your Tesla. I’m not sure when the download will be available, but it should be soon.
Good video with the exception of your crazy MPG figures between this and the TRX. They are only 3 MPG different as proven by TFL truck in a apples to apples driving scenario.
4:04 The tailgate step and railing is available on all F-150s and Raptors as an option. To say it's not offered is incorrect. That checkbox wasn't selected when that particular 2020 Raptor was built-out on the order sheet. Very misleading.
6:20 The Gen 2 actually feels like a Raptor because it’s huge. And the interior still feels modern and the touch screen is fine, in the 14th Gen F-150 they just made the screen bigger but we almost don’t look at it because we are driving.
Ford vehicles have so many issues. Differential, Transmission, Electronic Steering and computer programming issues. The cost of the spare parts are too expensive. Toyota is much much better than ford.
Have very basic f150, doesn’t have any vents on the back, only under seats. But the AC is still powerful enough to cool down temperature in hot Florida summers. My fancy bmw X5 has vents all over the place, and not even close to f150.
I love the mean and modern look of the old version , that looks sexier than the newer version for some reason , i wish the newer version had the front of the older version 😍😍😍
Honestly, the “TRX” or whatever from Dodge is just a sham. Power numbers are great sure, but it’s no competition to the Raptor. No Baja racing history, no experience, nothing. Dodge should just stick to the drag strip.
I wanted to enjoy this video, but I got frustrated with the repetitive commentary. “Like butter like butter like butter like but-ter” “It’s so wide it’s so wide it’s just so wide”
Why is this video titled 2022 Raptor? The 2022 Raptor has the My Mode button on the the steering wheel. Which is the major distinction between model years. You clearly have a 2021 Raptor.
People gonna say I'm in ram trx because the engine is powerful but they didn't know the other part like suspension, handling, technology, mpg and many more. They didn't know that the raptor is much faster on baja off roading. Ram trx is not the beast it's the engine but the raptor does
