I dont understand why you are posting the clips of bad launches. You have the cars, make every clip as equal as possible. The girl launched the audi better than you.
One of the worst car reviewers. Would try to race a manual vs automatic and shift like shit. The straight pipes, Carwow, and throttle house is much much better
Love this! Kinda bummed we had to bounce before you shot this Sam, but damn that GV70 can move. Great video, the sheer joy of everyone on camera was a delight.
@@applepoop10 Or at least the rumored 3.5TT 430hp version rumored for the G80 Sport which, unfortunately, did not make its debut on the recently unveiled G80 Sport.
Definitely was messy! Can’t believe the driver from the genesis pulled out the driver from the RDX and start beating the guy!!! Then the Audi driver helps out too .. OMG 😱 best race yet!! 🐐
I’m an Audi person, but I honestly didn’t know the Genesis was that quick. It’s crazy that with every gear change, you can actually see the gap get wider and wider.👏🏾
I need to buy Sam CarLegion T-shirt, hat or something, you are becoming more popular than Motor Trend and Car & Driver!?! I’ve owned 8 different Cars, most from your channel, and I just now got a New Audi SQ5 due to this video. 😂 these car companies should endorse your channel. Thanks again Sam!
My vote is with the GV70 as long as it is the 3.5TT model. If so the real competition for it is the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC 43.
Wow.I have a 2020 AWD Stinger and can tell you thet these KIA Twin Turbo engines are no joke.On paper the GV70 weighs a lot--but like my 3.3TT the torque is there from down low and once the 2 turbos get going these vehicles reallly fly.I will be looking in this segment in 2 yeras--I want to sit higher while having good performance and would be curious to see how an explorer ST does.Biggest factor also for me is the 10 year warranty--if you barter enough they will put that warranty on the whole car for free.I also have drag videos on here and my Stinger went 3-0 and every car i raced had 500 HP plus including 2 muscle cars/trucks that had 600 Hp plus.Reliability has been flawless for over a year and the interior of my Stinger is on par with the Honda crosstour I traded it in on which is fine by me.BTW there are ZERO gaps in the interior of the stinger--i test drove a charger 2020 SRT that was close to 55k and there were slight mismatches on parts of the interior. Also the AWD is fantastic--i drive Audis as rentals a lot and the Stingers AWD is definetly as good as a new A6 and is more performance oriented--I would say it is 95% of an RS5 at less then half the price.
But Hyundai will never compete with the likes of these brands with heritage.. no matter what they try to do to catch up or make themselves looks original, “Genesis” will never be a true luxury brand. And for you to say that this is above an Audi in any sense is hilarious😂 a base model Audi A3 is 10X the car..
hey Sam i just want to say thank you soooooo much i set a reminder for your video on the trackhawk&bmwX5M . im sooooo happy thank you soooo much i appreciate it i cant wait to watch it i luv the channel congrats on all ur subscribers keep up the vids they r awesome👌💯💯💯🙏🙌
Great video. I love all 3 SUV's. I have a 21 RDX A SPEC. Can you tell what us what the owner of the RDX did for his tune? I would love to know. I want to tune mine too. Acura definitely needs to make a Type S in RDX...
I got the 2.5 GV70 two months ago. I live high in the Rocky Mountains and the Genesis is just a dream. Great in the snow and I can pass slow moving vehicles easily. Just a fun, fun car! Solid and quiet.
I was impressed at how well the RDX launched ahead of the other two even though they pulled ahead. To educate the moronic comments about how the RDX loosing... the RDX is not direct competition to the SQ5 or GV70TT in either price/segment since it's $20000-$30000 CAD less than the other two. The direct comparison would be against 4 banger turbos like the Audi S5, BMW X3, etc. The tune for the RDX is pretty cheap & easy power since the Ktuner can be purchased for around $600-$650 and is a simple ECU flash with no additional modifications required to air intake or exhaust. Just watched the entire video, Sam states the RDX makes 350-360 hp but that's not true, he probably mis-spoke since it makes around 315hp with the stage 2 ktuner ECU flash.
@@sharktin240 "Bro".. if you pulled your head out of your butt and read what I stated, the RDX is not in the same segment as these two price wise.. so yeah a "tuned" SQ5 would be even more quicker. However a new BMW X3 M40i will murder the GV70TT and SQ5 and you wouldn't have to pay $1800 for real exhaust outlets unlike what Audi upcharges. That said, I'm sure the RDX owner knew what the outcome would be so props to him for volunteering to bring his RDX. From the initial launch, that little turbo 2.0 is impressive with a simple ECU tune with no other modifications.
@@jayc8456 you need to pull your head out of your crap and accept the Honda lost like there’s no tomorrow. EVERYTIME Honda loses u fan boys need to say stuff like a tuned this a tuned that. Like no at the end of the day the owner is the one who wanted to be involved in this race and got smacked up. Just like how the VW GLI who is a compact sedan with less HP smacked up the accord 2.0 10 speed that’s more expensive and on a different segment of cars and all you heard is excuses.
@@sharktin240 who said I'm a Honda fanboy? Lmao... simply trying to provide rational analysis on the subject however you sir just continue to talk out of your butt when facts are stated. Sometimes it's impossible to rationalize with the irrational minded ones like yourself. Have a great day!!
@@jayc8456 You stated no facts. U stated the most ridiculous opinion that says I’m surprised how the RDX jumped. Even tho watching the race the RDX was always busses behind. As mentioned, you Honda fan boys try to insult, and cut any corner in any argument to try and make the other person look bad. Ain’t happening here. The only irrational thing here was your ridiculous logic
@hon solo I understand and realize it’s just for entertainment and to get a baseline of each vehicles performance, but the GV70 still won the demonstration/race and take that Lol
@@billygarrick4811 Well, l in this channel the RDX beat the Q5, it is safe to assume that an RDX Type S would even thing up with the SQ5. Maybe not the Genesis. The RDX type S would be a very attractive competition in its class.
It's a nice comparison even though Acura RDX is not on the level, a RDX Type S would be very nice if Acura had one, what I'll like to see a comparison of GV70, GLC 43 and X3 M40i.
Sam it's not more expensive then the SQ5. If you'll get the SQ5 with all the packages that the GV70 comes with you will spend 81240$. And still the GV70 is a nicer 🚗.
How come this guys always gets the weight of the vehicles wrong. Before it was the mustang now its the Audi SQ5. Those Audi's are 4300-4400 lbs. No way they are 4079 lbs unless they removed the entire back seats.
Acura needs a Type S RDX for its next gen. I understand they go for handling and reliability not just raw power But we would all like for them to do more in regards to power.
@@joecool9739 I’ll do you one better, I’ve driven a Type S from Acura and no it isn’t a marketing scam. You simply can’t judge an entire Type S lineup because one car is behind its competitors in a straight line. What I will say is watch out for the upcoming MDX Type S, it will be a game changer especially at its price point.
@@MercOne the MDX Type S and the TLX Type S compete in two different segments, so it doesn’t matter what the TLX Type S did or didn’t do, that has nothing to do with the MDX Type S. With all the tech and features that’s in the MDX Type S, it’s near impossible to find similar tech, features and performance on a whole at that price point. All will be revealed by around end of month.
@@drivescene6747 It won’t even out perform anything with that weak 355hp in a heavier vehicle than the TLX. It’s performance won’t be anything special. It’s a classic case of paying less and getting less.
@@elianmorales4855 that was the case a decade or so ago, not so today. The Japanese as whole have skated along the last decade riding fanboys like yourself. Today the EV future on thr horizon they are behind again!
Hey when you line up all the cars on the 1st race u need to start in SPORT OR SPORT PLUS BECAUSE after a few runs the cars will have really bad HEAT SOAKING ISSUES..best performance is 1st and 2nd runs
honda in house 10 speeds is good, but when come to high hp and torque performance it cuts power between multiple gears change. Wow! that RDX first gear is aggressive 💥🔥
Nice video but I agree with previous comments let’s get a 2022 Volvo XC 60 with Polestar tune in there. I’m pretty sure it beats the Audi and gives the genesis a very good race especially off the line.
I have a ‘23 RDX and love it. However, I feel like the MDX with the 3.0 liter twin turbo option would have been a better comparison for this video. Not sure if that was available two years ago.
I recently sold my MS and got a GV70 2.5T. I forgot what luxury felt like. I do miss the speed, but the feel of Napa leather giving me a massage, is something Tesla can't replicate. They know software, but those engineers aren't grasping what luxury is supposed to feel like.
I'd challenge the SQ5 being cheaper in Canada. Adding carbon inlay, park assist, and HUD which would bring the SQ5 in line with Sport Plus trim puts the SQ5 over $76k (Genesis pricing is all in so the price quoted is everything less taxes), I didn't include the sport differential upgrade to the SQ5 ($3600) although the GV70 does have limited slip differential at this trim level, extending the warranty and service to match the Genesis 5 year plan and the gap increases a bit more. Not a significant difference but I think calling them the same price would be a fair comparison. I have a GV70 and I'll be honest, I thought the SQ5 would beat it given the hype from other reviewers feeling the GV70 still couldn't match the SQ5 for the price. Also, the review didn't mention if launch mode in the SQ5 and GV70 was used?

P.S. the girl rocked the launches WAY better than you boys did. Would like to see her in the GV70 and launch it.
What upgrades. You gona spend 20k to devalue your perfectly fine car? Sure, you can throw parts at it to make it faster. If you had enough money you can do anything but you'll turn it into a Frankenstein of a car. There are not a lot of high quality 3rd party parts available for the rdx.
Hey team, Thx for the review - Well done!! The GV70 offers a wide variety of modes for the driver to enjoy. As I approach 60 yrs old (and I'm a bit of a car guy) I totally love the luxury & comfort side of vehicles BUT also what to turn it up when I can. This GV70 3.5TT should really be about $20-$50K higher priced. It simply does everything really well and is 2nd to none is this segment when it comes to ride quality, comfortness, quietness all while surrounding the occupants with massive luxury features. It is called the baby Bentayga for many reasons. It is so quiet & refined when you want it to be - When you're stuck in traffic or going no where fast. My wife asked me if it was an EV as it was so quiet. Those double paned windows really make a huge difference. Plus the massaging seat is nice!! When you want to drive spiritedly switch it into Sports + mode and you easily hear the roar of the engine and the sweet exhaust notes while enjoying the rear wheel driving bias sporty experience. In comparison, the RDX A Spec it an excellent top rated vehicle but that engine is super noisy vs the GV70 and its a much more stiffer ride. Plus I wasn't impressed with the 0-60 time of 6.4 seconds to the GV 70's of 5.7 (4.9 seconds in the V-6). And the RDX weighs 450 lbs less. Its the luxury components/options, higher tech, standard features & options, the ride quality (can be extremely quiet & smooth AND aggressive and sweet exhaust notes) that makes this GV 70 THE clear winner in segment. Overall the CLEAR winner for me the is the GV70 3.5TT in Sport trim level. I'll take it in that Gorgeous Mauna Red exterior colour with 2 tone interior combination please:-) In Canada that full load price is $76,500 plus taxes. The F&PDI is included in that price. No discounts from that at all. The electrified version is coming out in 2023 but in Canada the top trim level will be about $25K-$35K higher cost to the ICE version. Besides its NO Gas requirement the EV version is a littler quicker with 0-60 times 4.3 to 4.6 seconds. For me I'd put down my deposit yesterday if the EV version had a time in the 3.5 second range. It will have a 500 kms range on a full charge. PS - Lots of dealer problems with Genesis in the States. Here in Vancouver No problems at all. I have 3 dealers within 40 minutes and the nearest is 15 mins away. Cheers all!!
It makes sense for the cars to heatsoak but that applies to all the cars in the video, GV70 was quickest regardless but even if it wasn't and the sole reason for the GV70 to win was the "heatsoak" then we can conclude that the GV70 has much better cooling by not getting heatsoacked after back to back launches.
GV70 cooling system design is top notch. Probably less heat soak than the others. Had 5 back to back dyno pulls, with hood closed and no fan airflow. All results where within 2-3 hp and torque of each other. Smaller turbos and less boost help generate less heat as well. The GV70 probably only gets up to 12psi of boost stock.
This should be a big wake-up call to manufacturers making boring ugly vehicles (cough Toyota) that people want stylish powerful, not crazy, bit powerful vehicles that don't cost an arm and a leg and are reliable.
If Maximum Verstappen, Sergio Perez, and Red Bull-Honda win the 2021 World Driver’s and Constructor’s Championship, then I will buy an Acura RDX and sell my Merc.
@@SamCarLegion I hope you share what tune in the video. Will be an interesting race if it is the stage 3 level that’s around 300 whp. Another interesting one would be the CTR turbo swap.
I used to feel the same, but not so sure anymore. I feel like they overcharge based on their warranty. This genesis loaded, is more expensive than the sq5
@@-.__.__.-Rad it’s a better car so it makes sense it costs more. Have you sat inside the two cars side by side. I never gave genesis an eye until I decided to drive one myself. And I must say I checked my bias. However the dealership experience is what prevented me from buying one. I don’t like to be in the same dealership as a Hyundai Sonata.
