Hey! Cool start to a new adventure! I've never made a video and I'm always amazed at the amount of equipment it takes....time too! A duh "I'm stupid" moment for me....storing a vehicle at a RV storage facility. Damn, never thought of that. Thanks for sharing your adventure! 🚵♂️
Thanks for the update. Good to hear what's up. I don't have any experience trail riding, so I can't comment on your gear. Looking forward to hearing from you as it's trail tested. I was curious about the logistics of your trip, too. Thanks to Rob for asking about it. I'm wondering about the bus and the kitty, too.
Traveling a little light. You showed a frame pump what's the model. I had my first flat in years yesterday and my frame pump didn't exactly impress me it worked however it came from Walmart. $35 a month storage fee not bad. Personally I would have a jar of peanut butter some place on the rig may be able to nest it in your cup. I know you have some basic tools but a few zip ties can save the day. For about $35 you can pickup a Midland FRS/Gmrs radio you can get weather updates its a 2 way radio. You should get a P38 and tuck it away in a pouch pocket. When you need to resupply at places with only cans and no pouches thinking spam tuna ect P38 saves the day. Also you should have more than 1 lighter. The White Bic is preferred as you can see how much fuel is in the lighter. A hard fast rule with the lighter is never use the same lighter for your stove and ciggerets. I've been told certain spots along that trail are UFO hot spots so keep an eye on the sky and camera ready. Also if you encounter Big Foot just tell him people are looking for you too and he won't bother you.
That is a tight set up im going to invest in those glasses i was flyin and took a cicada right between the eyes i heard it bounce off zut zut it was like a bullet almost went down ride safe i love your videos im gonna do the same when i retire ride ride ride 🤪
Great as always. I like that tent footprint. I noticed you using that on your last cross country tour. I always wondered what the name brand was and how well it actually holds up. I've always used a cheap tarp. I purchased my Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires after watching your video so I will now buy one of the Gossamer gear footprints as well. I have learned alot from watching your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Mountain house is getting expensive. . . . . Love some peanut butter and granola. . . . Leaving saturday going erie to ny then down to pittsburgh 4 days super excited .. . .
Happen to know what your departure weight was? After rigging my Surly ECR with just rear panniers and a rockbros kit bag I'm pushing 48 pounds with nothing packed.
I hear ya, The Krampus weighs in at 29.4, I didn't grab an exact weight, but easy 50-60 lbs. I always carry lots of food also. I saw quite a few ECR's on The GDMBR fully loaded and handling it no problem. Even saw a couple with a kickstand, just saying. That ECR is a heavy bike to begin with.
