The 2022 Honda CRF250R is here and, just like everyone else, we were more than excited to get our hands on one and put this completely redesigned bike through its paces. After last years major overhaul of the CRF450R, Honda followed suit with the CRF250R receiving the same updated chassis, along with a lighter single exhaust, improved engine and clutch. We were lucky enough to get invited out to Mountain View Cycle Park in Oregon for the 2022 CRF250R launch party to see how these changes translated to the track. Excellent review. Usually when you add HP you can have a bad effect on handling. Nice that Honda took time to set up the bike right so it leaves the factory with no bad issues to the consumer.

Mtn views always been my favorite track. Nothing compares to that chocolate cake dirt and traction early in the day Toward the end of the day it gets pretty slick and hard packed but definitely an awesome track.

FIGHT for more riding areas and tracks, they are seriously limiting us and taking stuff away slowly but surely. Used to drive 10 minutes from here in East County San Diego to ride. NOW have to drive minimum of an hour for garbage trails, one track or 3,4, 5 hours for maybe three tracks or desert. Used to ride everywhere.

you just can't complain if your in CA, In KY we drive over an hour for one track or some trails, or 5.5 hours to the state of Georgia to visit Durhamtown, best place in the south east, but yes I completely understand, the riding places are shrinking. My bucket list is to ride Caineville, UT, Octillo wells or moab.

Man I’m 300lbs and I just rode my first 250s this year and i feel like im faster and more comfortable on them and never get arm pump I’ve been ridding 450s since 2015 and they beat the shit outta me and I didn’t even know it till I rode a 250 all day think im buying a 250 soon and it will be this one

ok so basically im 270 pounds at 6’2 (im 17) and rn i ride a 2018 CRF450RX and its a bit much on the track for me… its wide, very powerful and i get a shit tom of arm pump riding it. ive riden a 2018 crf250r and it was significantly better strictly bc its a 250f and its a lot more slim, like you said im the video as a heavier rider youd aim more towards the 450 but its a lot to handle and i definitely hesitated a lot more to hit jumps at a higher speed bc its freaken scary 😂. on the 250 i was a lot more constistent with the jumps and cornering, also on my 450 i last maybe a lap or two bc of my arm pump, thats how bad it gets. so i really hope buying this bike will accommodate for all the sh!t im going through w my 450

You'll have to let us know how it goes! Thanks for the feedback. Remember, a lot of arm pump can come from improper form so be sure to focus on staying on top of the bike, squeezing, and not letting the bike pull you too much. - Chase

Man I’m 6’2 300lbs and I feel the exact same way I get arm pump on 450s been riding them for 7 years doesn’t matter what I do I get arm pump just recently road a 250 on the same trails and same jumps I do on a 450 and I never got the slightest bit of arm pump

Love your channel. Great review, but do you really think 175lbs is heavy for a 250? I rode 125 2 strokes at 180lbs when I was 18 and did just fine. I’m now 205lbs and my 250 has no problem getting me around. Let’s not convince folks to get a 450 because they’re not built like Jett Lawrence.

I hear what you're saying. 175 isn't too heavy at all. The reason I feel that way is due to the bike feeling a little underpowered in certain situations for me compared to a 450. If only they could make a 450 that felt as light and fun as a 250! - Chase

Understandable. 250’s don’t have that power reserve that a 450 has. I’m trying to talk myself out buying one 😂.

Every time I ride a 250 I tell myself that I need to get one and then I still get a 450 haha. Being a vet guy, it's harder to stay in moto shape and a 250 is definitely easier to ride longer! I also think that a lot of people think a 450 is too powerful because they don't ride it in a gear taller. 3rd gear is the magic gear on a 450! - Chase

Mine is on order as well in Australia & due this month cannot wait. Definitely look at the Yoshi RS-12 full titanium system for her. As Chase said Yoshi works with the HRC development team. 👊🏽

Can't you fix all that gearing stuff with sprocket changes? (also chase you should compare the 2021 to like 2004-2007 250R models)

Chase I know you said it still pulls good from mid-top, did it lose any top end power or gain any with them adding the bottom end power ?

Hi Justin. They didn't say if it lost or gained any power on the top end but from what I remember when I rode the 2020, it felt pretty similar. I also must say that this track didn't really allow you to get too high up in the RPM range. I don't think I ever hit the rev-limiter. But It's a solid engine package. - Chase

Since its a 2022 model, you won't be able to get either anymore. The rules change in CA in 2022. They will no longer red-sticker the MX bikes anymore. We are getting screwed

Why there is no hydraulic clutch ???

Honda did a ton of testing and they didn't feel there was a need for the hydraulic clutch on this bike. The clutch pull is nice and easy on this bike and honestly, the only think you give up is the self adjustment. I prefer the feel of a cable clutch as long as the pull isn't too bad. - Chase

Chase Sexton won back-to-back titles on the previous model, and it won several outdoors races. I would say that's relevant. But yes, this new motor is better stock that the previous gen. - Chase
