For 2022, the Honda CRF250R was the only model in the 250cc class to come with a complete makeover from 2021. We had the opportunity to test this bike a few months back while in Oregon, but now it is time for a Race Spec. We have created this series to provide the best overall settings that we see fit for you. We spend a day testing at State Fair MX with the 2022 Honda CRF250R and pinpoint what might just be the perfect set-up. Check it out!

I was planning to get one in the spring but after seeing how quick they’re selling I decided to get one now. I had to drive 130 miles to get it but was lucky to find one. I can’t ride until spring due to shoulder surgery though🤬

It is so refreshing to watch your guys videos. Not once did you mention another brand. Motocross Action was my go to source since 1986. MXA sucks now. They are such KTM honks. During their Honda 1st ride videos all they talked about was KTM this…..KTM that cover and friking over. Bravo you guys!!!!!

Thanks Ping. Great Bike! Please clarify when setting sag and sitting back further, you said sit over the H and O of the Honda logo... but which side of the bike is that looking at, left or right? It makes a big difference. thanks!

He means on the left side of the bike mate, 99% of the time the sags measured on that side of the bike as seen in the video

Hey! when measuring sag from the point on the rear number are you measuring 105mm to the center of the axle or to the upper line of the swing arm? Just wanna make sure I’m measuring it to the correct areas. Thank you
@Ry_Pox
@Ry_Pox 2 года назад
Doesn’t matter where you measure
@yukonjon5964
@yukonjon5964 2 года назад
If the rear suspension extended length measurement was what we are after, then what your saying would be an issue; but we are only looking for the 105 mm it should drop when we sit on the bike - along that line. All you need to know is a measurement to anywhere around the axle bolt while the rear fender is lifted up to the max. Turn the spring nut to get exactly 105 mm less then this measurement when sitting on the bike in full gear. It's just the amount it drops along that line. The angle of the line matters, but the total raised dimension does not. See if the tape is running straight above the axle, like half way back on the rear fender, than the 105 will be a greater percentage of the total travel and the shock spring setting will be too soft. The angle distance when further forward by the seat bolt is longer. Using 100 mm with the tape straight up to the fender would be a closer match to what sag is needed in that case. Each bike manufacture's spec of where to measure might matter, and this will be in the owners manual, but what they are looking for is - following the swingarm's arc of travel to get a percentage of total travel. This is what they base the sag spec on. Not to be confused with vertical travel. On snowmobiles the sag is set using a percentage of vertical travel, because there is no way to accurately check radius arc travel up in the track tunnel. I find it interesting that on this Honda the angle of the tape is even greater because he wants it measured from behind the swingarm. I think most of us use the axle bolt, which makes a shorter overall distance and also changes as the chain wears. Bonus tip to guys getting these Honda's with the new frames (250 & 450)... consider buying a chain with one more link than stock so that the axle bolt always sets near the end of its travel in the slot of the swingarm. Might have to change a sprocket to get this to work right, but doing this will extend the wheelbase and make this slightly skittish chassis more stable at speed. Once the axle bolt runs out of travel with the longer but slightly stretched chain, take out that extra link. This will always give you the longest wheelbase per chain and helps put pressure on the fork too. This 250 has slightly stiff fork springs for average riders, so the longer wheelbase (more fork pressure) will help overall balance and cornering. Same reason its easier to wheelie with a new chain, but I digress.

One very important thing they forgot to mention in this video: when setting SAG on this model they want you to measure from the top end of the swingarm, do NOT measure from the center wheel nut!

The stock tires has to go. 🤦‍♂️ the sidewall roll is terrible ,especially if your already a little to heavy for a 250.
