@@HondaProKevin I also spent 14 years in the powersports world! I enjoyed showing people the in and outs of machines! I enjoy hearing about the new changes that a machine might get from year to year. Even down to the technical stuff that people might never hear about. If you can keep doing that or more of those things, that would be great!
Decisions decisions…. I’m so torn between the two models , and configurations/ available features . Advantages and disadvantages to manual vs automatic, non power steering vs EPS, SRA vs IRS . Wow ! I guess I’d have to test drive each one , check out the ride and handling capabilities and make a better decision based on my observations. Difficult to do from a video , but you do a very thorough presentation explaining the available options and features.
lol you nailed it but, it's a difficult thing to decide on when you have so many options but like you said... Go check them out and take them for a spin as that'll really open up your eyes as to what features you want in the end and which may not be worth paying for with your needs etc. Thank you, I'm trying my best to make it as easy as possible when it comes to deciphering Honda's confusing ATV lineup so I appreciate the kind words bud ;)

Sadly, our toy prices are definitely creeping up there... When we finally see a Rincon 1000 released, it's probably going to be all of $15,000 bucks lol. When I first started selling the Hondas back in 2006, I would've never expected to see people dumping $30,000+ into side by sides etc before they left the showroom floor but here we are lol! Crazy times bud!
Thanks. This clarifies a few things. Even here in Ireland where the name Rubicon obviously is not used. But the model numbers are the same. A pity they do not do a TRX520FM6 with low range. I prefer the manual as I will use it as a farm quad mainly in the low gears for pulling, and I trust the manual shift to be still working in 20 years. But I hope that at least the 1st gear is low enough the crawl and pull.
@@tbuckets14 Rubicon refers to an off-road trail in the USA. Jeep uses the name. It is originally a US brand. Honda is Japanese, so why would they market a US inspired name in Europe?

Like some others here, choosing between rubicon 2 models- eps or dct. Both have electronics and by experience, none like water and mud. But which would be the lesser of the two evils?
Hey Honda, the mid-1990s called and want their horsepower back. Goodness, Honda needs to wake up already and update their machines. Keep the 420 and 520, they are great for what they are, just bring us a twin already, maybe something power in the high 60's or low 70's, of course, more is better but this is Honda we're talking about. I think they could make a new Quad for under $12k - which is ridiculous how much ATVs cost now with around 800cc twin and the power mentioned above while keeping it dead reliable.
55mph is fast enough for Atv in my opinion seen a few Honda Rubicon 520’s go around that speed. I think side by sides should be in the mid 60’s to 70’s. Those are safer any 4 wheeler at extreme speed is not safe for off road.
@@nighthawkj30A4 - Oh, I agree! The issue comes down to power for hills, towing, and having enough hp/tq for bigger wheels (mud). I like my machine to have the ability to cruise around 45-55 mph range for smooth road travel between trailheads. I do not want it to be screaming the whole time for miles. I had a Honda 300 utility back in the late '90s, it was a fantastic machine and honestly plenty fast most of the time. However, where I lived you could be on a country road for 3-5 miles between trails. I remember always being the last one there. Edit: Forgot to mention the top speed was around low to mid 40mph range. Whereas the larger bore ATVs and spot quads were able to run in the low 60mph range with some still being a bit faster. They could cruise at my top speed without their engine wanting to die from the strain. I on the other hand would cruise around 30mph for long distances.
On the top of the line Rubicon, does the dif lock do both front & rear or just the rear? Also, at what coolant temp does the fan come on? Is it ducted so the hot air doesn't blow across your legs? How noisy is the fan? Thanks Much Cheers from Louisiana.
I looked at this and others of your videos. Many specify low range transmission but at no place I can read about the gear ratios differences. What would be the 1st gear and reverse low ratio specs between Foreman FM1, FM2 and FA6?
Thanks for checking out the videos! I've got the gear ratios around here somewhere, let me do some digging and I'll get back to you. The FM1 and FM2, the FA6 is where you get into the DCT transmission and different gear ratios from the FM1 / FM2 with the addition of the low range.
@@HondaProKevin I dont know if I missed the final answer but more and more I look at the offer, I am asking myself if I will loose some very low speed if I choose a FM6 instead of a FA5 in the Rubicon offer. I already know that my trails are very narrow and tortuous and they will not permit me to go more than the first speed. So I see that shifting will not ask for the DCT. Also, mechanical simplicity will be appreciate. What do you think about my reflexions? Thanks

The only difference between a 2017 TRX500FA6 and TRX500FA7, is that the Deluxe (7) model has aluminum wheels, painted suspension and plastics. Everything else is the same.
I wish that the Rincon was offered in a foot shift 5-speed or even a electronic 5-speed push button. But that automatic. They can keep that automatic. I would never ever buy an automatic four-wheeler
Hard to beat a base model! Over the 15 years I sold them, base models outsold the test by at least 5 to 1. It's hard to beat knowing there's less that can tear up if you plan on keeping it for an extended period of time but... you can get spoiled by new tech real quick so be careful riding a more "Cadillac" version if you buy the base lol!
@@HondaProKevin would the foreman rubicon be very basic because mine has no mention of rubicon on it. Just steel rims and red plastic, no custom colours or anything
“Plain Jane foot shit” pahhh. I’ve driven the electric thumb shifts and they think too much when shifting vs a direct torque foot shifter witch most of us, like myself, have grown up on. Manual is better than electric. Why do you think Kubota skid steers are selling better than Cat or bobcat… bc the lag time in the Cat and Bobcat electronic controls rather than the Kubota hydraulic direct power 🤣🤣🤣🤣 either way thanks for the vid and schooling is on these fine quads

Yessir! Thankfully they kept that around when transitioning to the new Rubicon platform in 2015 but this time around, only on the DCT. Whereas before, all Rubicon models were an auto (not DCT) and had a low range.
I wish they offered a manual transmission five-speed in the Rincon. Rather than that boring lousy automatic transmission. Or even worse the CVT rubberband transmission that the other ones have. What happened to four wheelers actually having gears 2 Shift and having fun. Now they're all boring automatics
I don't understand why the Honda Rincon is supposed to be the flagship model but yet you're having to give up a lot of nice features. It seems like just a piece of shit waste of money just to get something faster with only a little puny 3 speed automatic transmission. It doesn't even come with DCT or power steering or an option for foot shift five-speed. Fuck that I'll just try to find mods the make the Rubicon faster. Honda really needs to go back to the drawing board and offer manual transmission and DCT on the Rincon
