Circuit tires, reflash, exhaust/intake... you will have a monster! Pan America is plenty powerful, but the dynamics of the FTR are phenomenal, even stock. Jack of (nearly) all trades!

The way it makes speed from torque tells me it’ll be a great street bike.

I love that you're running these bikes on the track. I just came from my H-D dealer and showed them your track run with the Pan America. I'm going to leave mine in the showroom until Saturday. My other bike broke down in SF the other day and I have to get this rental car back down there before I need to sell a kidney. Have fun on those bikes, maybe I'll see you around one of these days at a Pan America rally? lol

I own both. A 2018 Tuono Factory and a 2022 FTR Carbon and they're both a blast to ride. They make power in different ways and obviously, the Tuono is derived from the RSV4 so handling on it is superior to the FTR. But, I have just as much fun on the FTR. I consider myself a competent rider however, I'll never be able to use the Tuono to its fullest, not even close. But I feel like I can ride the FTR closer to its limits which is a little more fun if you ask me.

I bet the FTR can be a great track bike with the right set up.

I think you’re right; what would it need? Flat bars or clip-ons (Rizoma makes them), rear-sets and remove kickstand (pegs and kickstand scrape too soon), pull forks up 1/4” and pull rear wheel forward (shorten chain) to get rid of lazy feeling. But… alternatively could just keep it as is; for those who like it as is; and ride a different bike on the track?

I think indian is on the right track with the ftr making more of a sportier naked bike, I love mine. I would just love to see harley and indian break out from the cruiser world and try to jump in the sport bike world. Itd be cool to have some American options for track and canyon carving options.

@@fignewton27 The previous President of Indian Motorcycles said there's no way they will ever go into sport bikes. They did say to expect several more different types of motorcycles from Indian. Got a 2019 when it 1st came out. Was limited to 120 Mph. Got 148 in 5th gear after a Fuel Moto Reflash. Bike can shed a lot of weight. Got mine down to 472 Lbs with 17 inch BST CF wheels, cat box and possum scraper eliminated and have Lithium battery. Lighter, and smaller front wheel quickened up the steering. Easiest to ride quickly: Harley. The Indian requires a lot more effort to ride quickly. But… I’m going to pull the forks up 1/4” on the Indian and fit a flat Rizoma handlebar. I’m curious how much that will fix. Also the Indian’s front brake fades, and requires 4 fingers after a couple of laps. To be fair to the Harley, with stickier tires it would be quicker too. No question that the Indian wins “Best looking” for its “beautiful machinery” details.

@@FranOHagan the gills rearsets, and flat bars help a lot. The Toce full system with a lloydz ecu flash will completely transform the bike and gets rid of that tq dip. And gets you around 123hp and 103tq to the rear wheel

It's cool that this can do this, but man the corner speed is achingly slow and a 1:55 lap is literally the same time in the first video of a Ninja 400 I found.
@FranOHagan
@FranOHagan 2 года назад
😆 There are riders who can lap in the 1:40s with a Ninja 400. Just not very many of those riders. Low 1:50s is the best I could do with the FTR, but still great fun to ride it and to ride at Laguna Seca. What about you? Have you ridden at L.S.? If not, give it a try.

Stock it will pull a 600cc till the 125mph limiter stops you. A Toce Exhaust with a tune from Ryan will pull a R1 till 140mph then the R1 will skate on by.
