In 2022, Indian not only competed in both the King of the Baggers and Super Hooligans series - it won them both, too. This after facing stiff competition from the likes of Harley-Davidson and KTM in each of the respective series. So, what better way to cap off a great 2022 season than by having some other people try the winning bikes, too? Fresh off the heels of riding the 2022 championship-winning Challenger bagger race bike, Indian also extended the offer to have me throw a leg over the FTR1200 Hooligan bike Tyler O’Hara won the championship with, too. Who was I to say no?

Hooligan Racing might be my favorite Moto series in the U.S.

Moto America bringing us the king of the baggers changed everything for American motorbike road racing. I'm sure I can speak for alot of people that a couple years ago we really didn't pay much attention to motorcycle racing but KOTBs changed that. I've been to multiple races and currently waiting for my 2023 ftr 1200 carbon to be delivered all because of the hooligan racing.

Folks really think that the race bikes still weigh the same as a stock one, come on. You can get a stock ftr and do the bread and butter of exhaust, tail tidy, and a light battery and shed quite some weight. A little biased cause i have one, but seeing an American bike actually getting it and racing, bravo to them for trying to make the bike as good as it can be. Inspiring for people who have one or want one.

Love my FTR with a full TOCE exhaust and retuned!!. A BEAST! I''d love to see HD get the new Sportster involved in this series.

Extra weight is extra work at handling, braking, and Handling acceleration. Even the chassis fights you as not designed a race bike from ground up. Brave riders. Did you say no electronics on these bikes to race? That would really make it tough with the increased horsepower these race bikes must possess. Estimated horsepower? No wheelie control, no abs or TC with all that extra power!

Been lookin for a FTR1200S for 2 years, but in the Netherlands still to expansive. Secondhand prices for a FTR1200S from 2020 start at €15.000.

I bought mine (a 2019) for E14.000 in Gelderland about 7 months ago.. never had any regrets.. I love it. Had it tuned on a dynamometer two months ago and it rides even better now. Keep on saving I should say. But yes, taxes on motorcycles (and cars) are way too high here in the Netherlands.
@hymerr

@@mauriesltry Sweden it's even more expensive. 😢
@mauriesl

@@hymerr That sucks man.. and I forgot to mention that original OEM Indian parts are also more expensive than other brands. I recently wanted to switch my handlebar, because it's a bit too high (I have a protaper Rally handlebar). An original Indian handlebar was E250. I went for a Rizoma handlebar that has the same dimensions as the Indian handlebar, but is E150 cheaper. Great motorcycles those Indians, but they are indeed a bit overpriced. But all in all, I'm still happy as hell with my FTR.. big smile every time I go out riding.

I am in the u.s and found a 2022 carbon r, all I can say is I love mine, it's powerful, it likes to wheelie, it's fast enough and torque filled enough that I doubt you would get tired of it. Happy hunting!

I love my FTR but I wouldn’t put too much into those wins. The other bikes had to be heavily penalized with weight added.

Ikr the Duke 890 need a massive amount of extra weight to race...
@Don8789
@Don8789 Год назад
I saw the first Daytona race, did not get a super close look at the 890. But it seems like a superstock type of spec on the 890 versus a much more modified Indian with these front forks and brakes. The Indian is probably a lot more expensive. The 890 is a sportier road bike to begin with tho.

@@Don8789 the duke needs almost 50 pounds of extra weight to race, that is a lot of weight....

I couldn't figure out why the 890 wasn't blowing them away. Thanks, this explains it.
@toofastnobrakes

This season they changed that. The weight restriction was removed and the 890 is down to what it should be. And they still got beat.

I test rode a 2020 with 19" wheels .. A heavy bike lots of power I thought it was very stable .. for 2023 the HD Pan American is giving them some competition, As far as a lot of work to make it a race bike goes.. Look what you have to do to any Harley other than the Pan American ..to make it handle ..

I took a demo ride on the first Indian I've ever ridden. It was a Scout. Really didn't like it. Didn't have that much power. Vibration was terrible. Suspension was harsh. My middle aged back hurt after 20 minutes ride. Didn't like the sound that much for a Vtwin. I've been on cruisers before that I did like, within the cruiser ethos. This was not one of them. I was hoping it would be a lighter, more rippy, more agile cruiser than typical cruisers. Just wasn't.

The Hooligan series could be really good if it was street triples, dukes, mt09s and the like all going at it instead of a series made for this bike.

I love the FTR, but imagine if they took the added weight off the Duke 890R or let the Superduke race.... not sure the FTR would be in the running
