200 miles on the highway is plenty to road trip with on most routes.

I hope we are about to see a charging test and curve as well. Man, that Jag is good looking, and I don't usually care for SUVs. Good video, as always.

The range is enough for me. I would prefer if it was RWD, faster charging, and with smaller wheels. A price tag $20K less too.

There is I-pace EV320 (same battery 90kwh, but 320HP instead of 400HP), with (lowest) S trim and 18' wheels.

Just touch the screen and it lights up for a while. Also the navigation indicators is available in the main display (and HUD). You can also set the navigation display to fill the main screen (actually very cool feature)

I had to hunt down this video as I heard about it on the I-Pace owners forum. I wasn’t believing that you could get 195 miles while driving 70 mph. Although the host tried to account for all variables as best as possible, one item that was missed was topography. The biggest zappers of battery life are COLD weather, followed by head winds and then rolling topography. Today I drove 160 highway miles at 67 mph in 50 deg F temps with a minor (

I get ~200mi of range with those same 22" wheels, but at 75mph in Florida weather with the AC on.

Great test. I'm able to pull over 250 miles at highway speeds. I can set the cruise to 70, but it's extremely difficult to maintain that as an average speed between Seattle and Portland. My logs show average speeds of around 60 mph, less than 3 kw/h regenerated over approx 175 miles. I've seen anywhere between 32-36 kwh per 100 miles efficiency recorded. I've duplicated these results in cold and warm weather, with 2 passengers, HVAC on, phone plugged in, and on 20 inch tires (2020 model). Overall extremely happy with the car.

Does the car still do this?
@paulo3011
@paulo3011 6 месяцев назад
@@GenieFarms not sure. My car was impacted by the recall, and they replaced my battery last week. I'll have to retest soon. I stopped using the car for longer drives since it was limited by software to 72% charge. My last trip was in November, and yes. I had a few summer trips that I was able to get 280+ miles on a single charge. Only time I really had any trouble was during freezing temperatures.
@GenieFarms
@GenieFarms 6 месяцев назад
@@paulo3011 so the car can no longer do long distance trips? What do you mean by 72% charge?
@paulo3011
@paulo3011 6 месяцев назад
@@GenieFarms I think the car will do longer trips. Let me give you the longer answer. Last summer, Jaguar announced a battery recall due to risk of battery fire. They deployed an update (H441) to detect the conditions for potential fire. If the software detected the conditions for a fire, it limited your charge capacity to 72% to prevent a fire. My car detected the conditions for fire in November and I couldn't charge above 72%. When that happened, it was no longer practical to use the I-Pace for my longer trips, so we used our second EV (a Chevy Bolt) in the meantime. Jaguar replaced the faulty battery last week, and I can now charge to 100%, but I haven't had a chance to test and confirm the range over a long, consistent distance. I'm pretty confident I'll get similar range figures as before, but I'll need to test to confirm.

Great video. Subscribed. In May, I'm driving a '22 I-Pace 1100 miles from Florida to Pennsylvania. It looks like I'll be stopping every 2 hours to recharge if I maintain a snail like pace of 70mph. I'm just starting my research for this trip, I'm hoping and assume the charging network is strong up the I95 corridor. Any tips to travelling long distance other than "find Walmarts"? Thanks.

22" inch wheels are a killer. Second, the weather will remove 10-20 percent of the range. I say that accounts for nearly a 30 percent drop right there. I'll still take this Jag.

Thanks Tom. That was a great and super informative video. I am a little interested in the Jag I-Pace, but that might be mainly because when I was a kid a neighbor bought a jag and I always thought the brand was a symbol that "you've made it." HAHAHA Well I currently have my first EV on order, it is a Tesla Model Y Performance and it is scheduled to arrive between June 30 - July 14. I think after watching this video, I will reluctantly scratch the I-Pace off my possible list because I do plan to do a few road trips in my new car in the coming year. Thanks for all the help with my decision.

I've relatively new to this channel, Tom, but I'm really enjoying it. Whilst simply driving an EV at 70mph until it runs out seems, on the face of it, a boring concept, the way you so conscientiously factor in all the parameters to make each test as 'controlled' as you can and your enthusiasm for the numbers is proving quite addictive...! Great work, Tom. As for the i-Pace... well, what can you say...? It's yet ANOTHER aerodynamically-inefficient SUV design and, consequently, is overly heavy due to needing a battery size to compensate for that inefficiency. The sooner the buying public wakes up to the selfishness and personal indulgence of buying these over-sized SUVs the better for the environment.

@soumilkadam9310

DC fast charging before a range test gives more efficiency due to warm battery. But people on road trips may AC charge the EV the prior night. So they should expect less efficiency and plan the stops accordingly.

I think the iPace is one of the best looking cars available but their battery size/range and price aren't great. I hope Jaguar increases the range to: 300-350 mi. and keeps the price in the $55k-$60k range.

12:53 Is the display shutoff a settings option? Also, the I-PACE has the ability to port maps/navigation to the DIC, so it would be interesting to see if the navigation continues to be displayed on the DIC (or automatically switches over) when the main display shuts off.

Cold weather/battery chilling overning, windy day, and large tires... Poor Jag was set for a poor test :( Still think it did well. Car is very good looking, and has super nice interior. . Also, you can pre-condition the car (and for summer, you'll want the "optional" shade for the window. Also, car drives so well in agressive driving, and b/c its JLR, it can actually do alright off road! Also, I believe you can put the Nav on the center screen AND on the instrument panel screen with both Large mat, small speed indicator, or larger dials and smaller map.

Agreed but they were heavily discounted last year, and it is one of the best looking cars I have seen in a while...got one last year, and after the 7500 credit, it ended up costing 48,500 - It was an unsold 2020 with a msrp of 83,000. The 22 inch wheels on this car is also costing about 20 - 30 miles over the 20 inch wheels, and 30 - 40 miles over the 18s fyi..

While the car looks and drives great, i had always thought Jaguar rushed the development of the I-pace compared to its rivals. The fact this 84.7 kWh net battery I-pace struggled to crack 200mi when the similarly sized MY21 Mustang Mach-E SR AWD with a 68 kWh net battery does 226mi, or how the "inefficient" blocky Polestar 2 AWD perf pack with 20in wheels and summer wheels did 221mi on its 75 kWh net battery is a testament how outdated the Jag is as an EV.
