Nice video. Very helpful. I was trying to do this and this is great help. You offroad video contributed to my decision to buy the 2022. Same color as yours. Did 1200 km on the first week end riding from Los Angeles to Lake Tahoe and camping in the Sierra Nevada along the way.

Great video! Looking forward to seeing if you install some aux driving lights and how that works. Waiting on delivery of my bike now. I figured for the price cost of and Adv model I could get the base model and add the port and lights myself etc and save a bit.
@onthebackwheel
@onthebackwheel 2 года назад
Good idea, exactly what I'm doing except I'm probably going to give the lights a miss. I do know where to plug them into though, so I could do a video on that too help some people out

This video really saves cause Australia dealer only introduced the basic and adventure model with middle tier traveler model missing. I thought I need to pay $1000 more to get this power output with those pannier cases ( I rarely use them in city commute). Thanks for this intro video.

I would flip those blue terminals over that connect to the back of the 12v outlet. Just thinking if water were to ever get in there, it’ll drain out better with those pointed downward.

Nice job, thanks mate- I'm doing mine tonight. I'm going to splice two tails from the power supply and wire up some fog lights too... (better do all that before I put the crash bars on: ). Ill keep the other plug for some heated grips.

@benharper1682
@benharper1682 8 месяцев назад
love it. Now how about the other port on the other side, is there another slot for a relay on the other side or could you just mount two from that one set of factory bullet connectors? thanks keep up the good work.
@onthebackwheel
@onthebackwheel 8 месяцев назад
The one relay does both. I didn't end up installing one on the left as they didn't have an affordable option at the time, but you can now get aftermarket ones that are well priced. Never installed one so can't tell you more than that sorry
@RonConsumer
@RonConsumer 2 года назад
Great job... I put my usb charger on that side using a Scanstrut waterproof dual usb. I see the only thing you didn't cover was which connector was positive and which one was negative, that would have been helpful for those doing the install... of course, you can just pull out the handy VOM and check which wire is positive and which is negative.
@onthebackwheel
@onthebackwheel 2 года назад
Yeah I realised afterwards that I left that bit out! It was a messy filming process that day, had to juggle the baby at times so I went 'stuff it'. The Scanstrut looks like a really nice bit of kit

@@onthebackwheel Still an excellent job... helps out a lot of people plus it's a lot cheaper to build the KLR out yourself than to get the adventure model. Yes, it may take a little longer to build but you get what you want and are not stuck with a lot of extra stuff you didn't want in the first place.

Good video mate! Im looking at getting a new klr soon and tossing up between the base model and adventure model. Do you reckon the base model is the way to go and just do little mods along the way?
@guym5672
@guym5672 2 года назад
Get the Adventure. Picked mine up 2 week ago... Its great
@onthebackwheel
@onthebackwheel 2 года назад
Thanks Brock. Depends what you want to do. The adventure is great value, it is roughly $2200 of gear (all installed too) for $1000. The base rides a little bit better because it simply has less gear and weight. Personally, I'm putting that thousand bucks to mods I want. If the adventure came in tan, I might have got one and sold the gear I didnt want (panniers and lights)
