Today I compare a 2021 Kia Stinger GT1 to a 2022 Kia Stinger GT2! Kia Inventory: www.seinerkiaslc.com/ Second Channel: / @thebenhardyshow Instagram: ben_hardypl Facebook: @benhardycar
GT2 is overall is better but compared the 2021 GT1 and 2022 GT1! For all those looking to purchase the 2022 GT1 my humble opinion get the 2021 GT1! Since KIA don’t sell the GT model for 2022, the GT1 is basically the GT model. Only advantage of the 2022 GT1 is remote start, new rims, upgrade 10+ screen, more ambient lights, refresh taillights light bar, active exhaust making 3hp which majority of 75% going to upgrade the exhaust. Way better off getting 2021 GT1 and get good deal and cheaper. 2022 GT1 has some downgrades features in GT1 removing premium audio, no sports gauges in the middle gauge? No cool seats? No more full led headlights? Let me break it down! The 2021 GT1 includes most features that 2022 GT1 doesn’t have! Auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink® and compass Driver's seat memory system Ventilated front seats Auto-dimming outside mirrors Sunroof with sunshade High beam assist Rain-sensing windshield wipers Driver attention warning Forward collision avoidance Lane keep assist Supervision Meter Cluster w/ 7.0-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT), Color LCD Display Harman Kardon® QuantumLogic™ Premium Audio w/ Clari-Fi™, 720 Watts and 15 Speakers UVO eServices w/ 8-inch Touch-Screen Display and Voice-Command Navigation System Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) Yes do get a nice little refresh for the 2022 GT1 only for bigger screen more ambient lights, new exhaust with supposedly three more horsepower and nice light bar in taillights and new rims style. Mostly cosmetic!! Double check my list if some features might include but bottom line 2021 GT1 is better and do your research! Get those 2021 GT1 for good deal if your on a budget!
FYI: The GT2 on 2019-2021 models also have a camera on the front grill. The one in the video did not because it is a GT1... Also, the older GT2 models have Nappa leather which is softer than the GT1 used as a comparison. It appears that the only difference in the leather would be the stitching. Lastly, the gear shifter is the same in all GT2 model years and in 2019-2021 model years, there also is a camera button in the center console.
The additional stitching added on the seats for 2022 definitely give the seats a more premium and classy vibe. Given it is green on the exterior I only wish they had the option for dark brown leather.
You got a pretty great presence and confidence even on your budget. I've seen many many reviewers who just aren't that inviting to listen to or watch. Hope you the best of luck! I'd love to get in to car reviewing soon here in LA but i don't know if i have the confidence so might just be the behind the scenes to a buddy who's got an English accent LOL.
2022 Kia stinger all the way I just may pull the trigger after sitting on the fence No rear illuminated fall with LED light bar on the 2021 model they cleaned up the rear end significantly for 2022 which looks a lot more grown-up and professional
Yeah. Too bad they had to slap those ridiculous muffler covers on the 2022. They are silly big and do not flow as well in proportion to the rear end as the smaller 2021 covers.
I had a 2020 Kia Stinger GT2. Just got the 2022 Stinger GT2. I love all the little updates. The Blindspot camera is great. The back really looks better.
I just got a 2020 GT2. Can’t see shit out the back lol so a rear view cam would have been nice. I’m fine with the screen size, planning on putting in an exhaust. However I’m wondering if I should have gotten AWD instead of RWD
I don't really like the new wheels and taillights on the 2022. Doesn't really look the best to me. I do really like the new badge Kia has, and putting a new badge like that on the 2021 I think would look a lot nicer
Think people would bash for putting the new logo on a 2021? I’d rather do that I like the new badge but would rather settle for a 2021 and save a little $
I have a Canadian spec 2018 GT Limited (GT2), the new infotainment/turning indicator camera/logo are the only things I would want, besides that am good. Not a fan of the new rear light bar but, that green just pops nicely.
I have a 21' GT1 and I think it's better than the 22'. 1) The remote looks cooler 2) Still has sunglasses holder 3) drive mode icons look better 4) better MPG rating. 5) rims look better.
Ive quickly accelerated into family life but i wish this exact version was around when i was still buying sports sedans. My current 5 might be my last for a while and have to cave to a SuV soon
@@jissanhuq3792 Nah man, just do what the euros do and get a hot hatchback with some decent cargo room for the family vehicle. Kids can learn to squeeze into a sedan or a smaller vehicle like we did growing up.
@@Jkev24 lol man i wish... we have 3 dogs and ones a Great Dane. The two small dogs already sit on my wifes lap while the dane takes up the entire back n this before we have kids! Id kill to even be able to get a small hot hatch on stilts like a Porsche Macan like car. I test drove a X3 m40i and our big dog couldn't even really fit in the boot of that. If we needed more than 1 car I'd get something compact for sure. Certain scenarios you really can't surviving on sedans or small cars if you only need 1.
Dude, get one for sure. They're so underrated because of the Kia badge. They're super comfortable and they're quick. We've had one for a few months now and I still like to look out the window and just watch it, because it's so well done by Kia.
My only complaints about the refresh are the fob and lack of sunglasses storage. That’s it though. All the other changes make the car so much better and remedy all my nitpicks about the original Stinger.
i like the new bigger screen but the over sized exhausts look odd and i prefer the shapes of the rear lights of the old one at the night. Thought they would make more changes.
Yes, the exhaust (tips) look so fake. They could have at least mated them to the actual exhaust so they'd look like they were actually being used - versus just for show. Seeing those huge cutouts, but the actual (real) exhaust pipes in the middle of them looks soooo cheap.
The 2022 also has a frameless rearview mirror, a blind spot camera in the center digital dash when you use the turn signal and an available suede dash...
I love the new info system, bu that's about it. Having modded my 2018's bov valves, intercooler, intakes, secondary downpipes, and exhaust, I would be leaving too much behind if I switched.
Dude, getting rid of the sunglasses holder ... don't know if I could do that now. I'm only half joking. I love those sunglasses holders! Thanks for the comparison!
You were not comparing cars at night but the 22 Stinger has more nighttime glowing lights in the dash that you can change colours on. I notice the switch arrangment on the left side that has the gas door and hatch buttons has changed
I just bought a barely used 2019 GT2 Limited on a good deal and aside from the badge and screen interior is basically the same except I have the sunglass holder and there's no cheap plastic parts + has suede. I'm disappointed the 2022 doesnt have any performance upgrades to it or added functionality to the exterior, this car deserved better!
The shifter in that 2022 has nothing to do with it being newer, it’s the shifter you get in the GT2 .. my current stinger (non 2022) has the shifter just like that. Has all the features of the 2022 being reviewed here... just my two cents, the 2022 back end is not an upgrade on the stinger.. those massive muffler covers look cheap and the tail lights look like the lights on every other sedan coming out now.
I agree about the fake tail pipe tips, they look tacky. The new tail lights look a little more classy to me though, especially seeing old and new side by side.
In Australia we get the GT which is the top of the range model so it is the same as the GT2 in your country although we don't get the AWD here in Oz. The changes are minimal and subtle and I am glad they didn't butcher the design like BMW did with the new 3 and 4 series. The major changes for the Oz models will be 64 colour ambient mood interior lighting, some extra safety features like camera blind spot monitoring etc. and a bit more leather on the dashboard. I believe we are also getting a remote start function on the key. I will be interested to see what the price of the current model will be when the new ones start coming in. Last years model, which is what I have, may be the best bargain for someone looking for a new car if you can get one. Stinger reigns supreme
The 2021 looks better! I hate the rims on the 2022. The GT2 for 2021 has the same rims as the one you’re showing. The interior seats look better on the 2022 but if they are not firm your lower back with hurt on a long road trip. Soft seats are not good for long road trips. I hope KiA comes out with a new Stinger soon with better tech such as digital gauges. Thanks for the update.
Apart from the remote start I don’t understand why they changed it. That key was unique to their halo car. And now, it just has a key from any other lower end Kia. Stupid!
I would most certainly take the dealer discount for the older model year. Hey, a thousand bucks or two is nothing to sneeze at! It can buy a lot of gas, or pay for a year's insurance. The driving pleasure is the same for both vehicles.
@@speedtab215 At least here in Europe we have the better shifter on the old models as well. The larger screen is the best update for me as well. I really liked the old model but the tiny screen felt so outdated. I do prefer the smaller exhaust tips of the older model though. The new big ones are just too much.
One thing I disliked about the prior models is the infotainment screen, its small and awkward looking. the new one is a vast improvement. I'll be buying a 2019 GT AWD Limited (different model designations in Canada) in a couple of weeks. Got a hell of a deal on a fleet vehicle that has only 3500km on it (been sitting in storage since it was purchased). I'd hold out for a 2022 but I'm basically getting a new car for half the sticker price. Any updates on the black exterior trim packs that were supposed to be available or updated interior packages?
I wonder if they’ve got rid of the rattles in the 2022 model. Or whether they had even got rid of them in the 2021 but I wouldn’t like to buy a new car and have an annoying rattle I couldn’t get rid of like some people did. Does anyone have an update on that?
I wish the screen wasn't so ugly in the 2021 lol. Only thing that keeps me from wanting it, looks way more slick in the 2022 just seems to fit the dash better
Nobody notices the new frameless rearview mirror wth... Also a lot of the things you mentioned (i.e. front camera and gear selector) were available in the 2021 as well in the GT2
Not talking about the headlight differences or rear diffusor. Also the 10.5 inch infotainment system vs 8, and would've liked to have seen a GT2 to GT2 comparison.
Just got the 2022 Kia Stinger GT2 had the 2020 Kis Stinger GT2. Love the updated features. I think it's one of the best cars out there. The value for what you get is amazing. It's worth paying for the upgrade from the GT1 to the GT2
Best cars my arse...i would rather get an m5...way more luxurious and way more fastet...hell...for 50k i can get a widebody scat or even a slightly used hellcat....way faster...
@@papakuku2260 I was saying for the price you can not get a BMW with all the features for $50,000. Heads up display Nappa leather, camera blindspot, ect. I am sure you know a lot more about cars than I do. I think it's a great car for the money.
The shifter isn't different, at least not by year, it's another one of those trim differences. If you had a 2021 & below, GT2, you'll have that same shifter, as you have in the new 2022 GT2 your showcasing here.
@@Metallicazor I just traded in my 2018 2.0T Premium model with the T-shifter. They all have it except the GT2 model. I got a 2021 K5 GT 2.5T with the same exact T-shifter.
I like the new tail lights but the exhaust is WAY over the top. I really think the whole car needs a facelift, the design is cool but it doesn’t look as sporty as the K5, and that’s two levels below the Stinger.
