The x3, rdx, and nx are even money in my market. I went with the nx. I currently own an i3 and love the electric feel. But it’s steering required work after 75 mpg and the range starts dropping after 45 mph. Been a joy, but I want a change with hybrid and good reliability. Btw, the i3 had only a couple of issues. It has been awesome

I get it, it’s a decent alternative for someone who doesn’t have the charging infrastructure for an EV. The touch screen is a giant improvement over the previous model.

I think Lexus did a really good job with this one, sharp-looking, drives well, good infotainment and of course Lexus reliability, I don't get why people are complaining about the price, you are going to pay more for most of the other vehicles it competes with for the same equipment, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo V60, etc, and the Acura RDX is pretty much the same price if not it is close.

@@naveenthemachine well that’s your opinion, tbh dude idk why you hate Lexus so much, you’ve come for me on instagram and now here 😂😂, as someone who just test drove a Venza and the new NX, the Lexus has a far more luxurious interior the touch points are miles better and who cars if the turbo 4 isn’t the fastest no one is drag racing them. It is smooth, refined, and it has lots of torque and that’s all that most people buying this vehicle need, it’s not a performance vehicle, it never was and Lexus never marketed it to be. Who cares if the CX-5 is faster, it doesn’t mean it’s a better vehicle than the NX. And if we are saying the NX is just a gussied up RAV4, then the RDX is just a fancy CRV, the Bentayga, Urus and Cayenne are all just fancy Audi Q8 simply because they share platforms and engines

@@alwaysiyi272 the RDX is not a CR-V though, it has it’s own platform, powertrain, and engine. Not to mention actually looks and feels like a luxury car inside. The NX has a Toyota’s interior. I mean the dash in front of the passenger is a shield of plastic. It’s not a bad car by any means but for the price it’s not really even a step up from just buying a Toyota.

@@AFCompany the only Toyota interior that I see related to the NX is the Mirai and that's because the Mirai was originally designed for Lexus, it would have been a next generation GS I believe. Is wild at heart maybe piano black plastic I don't think it's too much unlike most modern audi's which have piano black everywhere

@@naveenthemachine there is nothing wrong with platform sharing that's what I'm trying to say, a lot of vehicles on the road share platforms. Makes it cheaper and more efficient to produce the vehicles. The Cadillac Escalade shares a platform with the Chevy Tahoe, does that mean that the Escalada is a bad vehicle or does that mean it is a gussied up Tahoe?. There literally a CX-5 Signature in my drive right now and I can tell you it isn't more luxurious than the NX. I didn't know Acura didn't use the CRV platform, that's good for them

@@naveenthemachine the 3D Instrument cluster is a gimmick, I’ve seen it in person and it just hurts the eye if you look at it for too long same goes for the fingerprint scanner, it’s cool but it is also just a gimmick. And no one is gonna pick one car over the other cos it has better remote parking it’s cool to have but it’s not an essential feature

@@naveenthemachine because the cx5 has terrible transmission, Interior is fine for a Mazda and Honda/Toyota,... It's just not there and the Mazda turbo is negative fun. Also the "driver assist" in the Mazda is so far behind. I wanted the Mazda to be better so I could save money but just not good enough even as a poor man's GLA or Q3 or Lexus NX I test drove the 2021.5 cx5 turbo and that thing was just terrible driving experience

I live in Long Islannd NY and was trying to get one of these. The Lexus dealerships here are putting 10K extra markup on top of 60k price tag. Its just ridiculous. I went straight to BMW and got a X3 M40i.

The Lexus NX is literally a RAV4, cheap plastics, corner cutting everywhere, I will say the fit and finish is good as the Lexus workers are well trained in quality control. Also, Lexus has the most outdated interiors in every segment they compete in, the RX is the oldest vehicle in its segment, the NX is in last place, the IS still has similar interior from 2014. But of course you don’t care about the facts, based on your comments you don’t care about facts. Sorry Lexus tricked you dude, but they are very reliable so there’s that.

This is a perfect vehicle for commuting. For city driving and lower speed limits, the EV only mode is perfect. For highway driving, using the engine as a generator to charge the battery is great.

As with any "new" interface/display, it will take time to learn. Although no home button is not my preference. Otherwise, a very compelling little plug in/hybrid. I do like the lack of black cladding on the fenders! Pre-production model? Lexus, DO NOT use any black plastic cladding on this new model!

I just bought a RAV4 prime for about $35.7k after the $7500 fed tax incentive. It is a truly awesome car for that price and the cloth seats and base type trim match my vision of what EV is for (saving me $$). I drive my 42 mi on full EV a few times a week for $1.50 cost to charge overnight, and absolutely love that I don't have to have any mechanical sympathy of waiting for oil temp before WOT

While I generally like the new NX, I felt like a bit more could have been done with the interior, like could they not add anything on the passenger side? Instead of just *d a s h* Also what was going on with that chime, it goes to emit the old Toyota/Lexus chime then goes into the new one lol. I know they still use the same "beepbeep" sound when it denies a paddle input or attempt to shift with no key present / ignition on. So maybe that's part of the reason?

@@naveenthemachine I agree and I’m buying one anyways. The seats are going to be awesome with the ultra luxury, but the solid black dash area is blah. The instruments are also blah. There is a lot of boring and functional here with tech added in. Looking forward to the sound system. I would have gotten the Acura if the dealership didn’t add a bunch of garbage. The nitrogen air fill charge is insulting. The xc40 would have been #1 if they offered ventilated seats. Not an option at any price. This car market is crazy. Used cars are going to be insane in 3 years.

I'm 54 years old, I've never seen used cars that are two or three year old, with ten, twenty, thirty thousand miles or more........go for more than what a brand new car's MSRP. Probably because the Lexus provides additional ride comfort, more premium interior, quieter cabin, and less engine noise over the RAV4. And of course, reliability over the Mercedes and BMW.

Yes, it will charge the battery by regenerative braking, though with PHEV's it's recommended that you charge them.

What do you think, worth the extra price over the Rav4? Was looking at the regular hybrid version of each rather than the plug in. Specced the way I want, the NX is about 12k more which I think is a bit steep.

This NX isn't worth it at all!! It 80% Rav4 (a cheap mainstream car). Lexus invested $0 to improve this under skin but charge you double the price of a hybrid Rav4. Dont fall for Lexus scam. Get a GV70 electric next year.

@@kizo172 they've definitely changed things, the suspension will be different and there will be a lot of insulation to reduce cabin noise... Plus I think the body looks better. But I agree I don't think it's worth the extra money. Also unfortunately I don't have anywhere to charge an electric car, so that's a no go for me. I wish they'd make a regular hybrid version.

I've drive regular hybrid Lexus cars and I hate them because you have to go so slow and up to 25 mph before the gas engine kicks in, I.e. you are 99% of the time using the gas engine. But I've never driven a Prime like, and it's nice to see you can drive it to high speed with EV mode only. Does the battery get charge by the engine or do you have to plug it in to charge?

A fully loaded Rav 4 Prime will costs $45k this one is insane for $11k more it's not worth it even though it looks better for the exterior and interior I think Rav 4 Prime is the way to go for plug in hybrid for full EV I would get the EV6

Actually the fully loaded Prime is close to $50k. This Lexus is about $58k loaded. For $8k more, you get so much more refinement, technology and luxury. Well worth it in my book.

@@rodulfol rav 4 prime is $48,970 loaded this is $60,345 Lexus front end looks better but Rav 4 prime has better range and availability will be easier Lexus will definitely mark up this car Toyota will be more flexible depending on dealership. I don’t think it’s worth the extra $11k
