The 2024 Lexus NX450h+ F Sport is a standout in the hybrid SUV market, offering a blend of luxury, performance, and efficiency. This model is part of Lexus' commitment to providing environmentally friendly options without compromising on power and style.
I last tested this car 2 years ago when it was completely restyled and came away with a positive impression, but it could have been a little sportier. So, this one has the F-Sport package, with an Active Variable Suspension system and front and rear performance dampers. It comes with 20-inch rims wearing Bridgestone Alenza 235/50R-20s all-season tires.
Smoother Looks
The new NX has been smoothed over, gone are the sharp creases of the old model, and in their place are more rounded lines and curves making it stand out less from the compact crossover crowd. It looks shorter even though it’s marginally longer and higher than the outgoing model.
Under The Hood
The engine is lifted from the Toyota RAV4 Prime (the two cars share a platform). It uses the same 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four as in the base NX250 and the standard hybrid, the NX350h. Electric motors assist the gasoline engine and provide power to the rear wheels, giving the plug-in NX all-wheel-drive capability.
Total output is 302 hp, Lexus doesn't quote torque numbers, and from a standstill to sixty it takes a brisk 5.6 seconds, 0.2 behind the RAV4 Prime. With a battery pack which has 18.1-kWh of usable capacity, you get 37 miles of EV-only range. The onboard charger is rated at 6.6 kWh so it will charge in 2.5 hours with a 240 charger. When it's not running as an electric, the NX450h+ is a gas miser with an EPA-estimated 36 mpg overall.

Great review thanks - BTW the 'Hold Charge' button means 'Hold the button down and it converts the gas engine to 'charge mode' and it then charges the battery as you drive' Works really well too!

Noticed a trailer hitch on video. Did you install? I can only find one for “F Sport” at Lexus. Looked at install directions and it describes three cuts or trims, one center and two at ends. Just bought an F sport 2024 NX450h+. Love it but don’t wan’t to cut it up to install a hitch.

Trading in my 2023 NX350 F Sport 3 for the 2025 NX450h+ F Sport 3. The only things I will miss from the gas model will be the ML sound system and the POWER 60/40 split rear seats… everything else will be exactly the same but with new bells and whistles and a little more speed! 😎🇨🇦

That CVT sounds horrible. I would get the 8 speed turbo model.

.............................. FAR and Away the VERY Best Versatile Economical & Practical vehicle ever made!.....Do-Not be misled by Euro offings: I own this 450h+ " F " Sport and with the immediate dump of the Dog Run Flat tires R&R to: Michelin's that have a much less rolling resistance gaining me 49 miles per 120Volt Plug in...& I never buy gas and have the ultimate QUIET Quick / Torq ride Vehicle has "Adaptive Suspension and stiffens in turns Rides Much softer on Fwy compared to my wife's soft riding New 350RX...Michelin's rule!....& yes the added Elec motors / Torq and is VERY quick for the first 1/2 block...indeed I raced a 750 beemer and beat him for the first 1/2 block (However, no dummy here I shut down as the big v8 supercharged *Non Reliable Turbo would beat me in the long run....Who cares as Speed Kills and the fun is the chirping of All 4 tires out of the hole and QUICK!.......Do not know why this guy is Always flooring this vehicle ...for crist sake it is an SUV not a Ferrari...Economical build quality it is king....... as I get 49miles per 120Volt plug-in and 89 eMPG....Yep! 89 on Regular gas. Congrat on nice review and pushing the platform did freakN great even lite off road w/AWD Elec Torq & Gas. Do yourself a HUGE favor & do the proper research and *** IF YOU Can get one buy this IMO...... over any same class SUV i.e. cedes beemer genesis !

Interesting stuff - You changed the run flats for Michelins. What about the risk of a flat tire?

@@mikebedford4362 The BEST solution: I have always carried a tire string TAR impregnated string in-serter & a compressor...& Needle Nose pliers.......No need to ever jack up car (danger of falling) simply locate nail / screw pull out insert string in hole....No FreaK'n waiting for AAA for an hour + & no taking tire to repair shop cost money to go and return to pick up.

it's sad it can't even average 40 mpg in hybrid mode. I would really like to see this drivetrain in all small Toyotas. A Yaris with this drivetrain would be awesome.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Do Not lie! I have this vehicle and I get 49 miles per plug-in NO Gas and I get as per owners manual 89 miles per eMPG yep 89 on Regular gas. REPLACE the Dog RUN FLAT TIRES at the dealer to Michelin's T he best SUV ever produced...do your homework!

Well, the NX450h+ 38mpg is slightly better than the BMW competition, which gets 22 mpg in hybrid mode. Volvo is not much better. This Lexus gets phenomenal fuel economy, especially for its size and options.

I will never buy a car with run flat tires. I prefer a manufacturer who provides the best possible ride quality. Not a bumpier / noisier ride with no spare tire and jack or place to store the tire.
