This is my first viewing/listening of Mr. Weaver and he's already a fave. His persona and delivery is pitch perfect and the wit is sparing yet quite funny. As for the Macan, I hated it when it was introduced eight years ago - a niche money grab by Porsche IMO - but I've come to appreciate it tremendously both for its own automotive charms and for Porsche's business wisdom (their SUV sales fund the sports cars). I await the EV version eagerly.
I think I like the original version of this car over all the revisions. When the Macan first came out my wife and I were really in awe with it. Now I think it’s been warmed over a bit too much. I think going electric might be the best thing for the Macan.
Love this… planning on getting a 2021 model, not a huge fan of the 2022 piano black center. Plus at my age..the 911 I had, was getting harder to get out of….lol. Great Review😊
I owned one (leased- hated the day I had to turn it in) I also had a 911 in the garage - after the Macan S - I enjoyed it more than it's little sister. Best car I have ever owned and have a 2022 on order now. Drives like a 911 that you can ride in with your German Shepard. But many of the options are things for this price should come standard - My only complaint.
Really think that Porsche came out of the blocks too early on the EV Macan. They should have done one more cycle on the ICE Macan and been launching an all new model this year to take them through the next 5-10 years. Adoption of the EV car is going to take a long time in some markets . . . the current Macan is going to be ancient by the time they phase it out.
yes but it has to be at least S or GTS, the base model is like driving cheaper models from Audi or VW with a Porsche badge. So the base model Macan < Bimmer & Mercedes, S or GTS Macan > Bimmer & Mercedes.
Super and useful review, but the North UK accent plus wheel on left plus mixing of $s and £s is mind-blowing to this ex-pat American resident in West Yorkshire. I can't remember where I am! All that aside I have a Macan S on order from Hull. Last time I checked, Hull is in West Yorkshire and my heated GT will be situated on the right side of the car....
It ought to be little bit compact and a bit increase in sportierrrrr tuned interior .. the interior seems bit wide.. luxury with compact agility and speed, is a hit amongst the young spirited.
I really like your no nonsense review style. I'm trying to get to this on my own channel. The difference between the Cayenne and the Macan is the feel of the transmission. Cayenne is not PDK it is Tiptronic. The 7 speed Macan PDK is so smooth. I reviewed my own new 2021 Macan on my channel in chalk. I also just bought the Macan S and have a review coming soon.
I do not really know a lot about cars so someone help me out lol, I am deciding between a Mercedes GlC 300 4 matic or a Macan if anyone can give me advice/ help me decide that would be great!
Great review...very indepth! This was like reading the manual but more fun :) Do people even read manuals anymore though...lol. Great job on your video :)
I love the Macan & suspect it will handle better, but I would still love to see a track time / comparison video against the substantially more efficient, and more 'reasonably priced' Tesla Model Y Long Range ($54K, 4.8s 0-60) or Performance ($61K, 3.5s* 0-60). Or versus a Tesla Model 3 Performance ($57K, 3.1s* 0-60) or Long Range ($50K, 4.2s 0-60). * with 1st foot of rollout subtracted [on a treated dragstrip?]
This is what Car and Driver said about the Tesla Model Y: it feels clumsy and increasingly unhappy as you probe its cornering limits. The Tesla's ride is noticeably flintier and less refined, and tire impacts resonate through the structure. The Model Y can't hide its 4439-pound weight. Pressing toward that 0.94-g number taxes the Pirelli P Zero rubber, and the suspension never seems to settle down. When pushing the Model Y hard, you'll also miss the way the seats offered by the German competition hold you in place. Tesla's seats provide no such support, which makes spirited driving a game of trying to stop sliding around by bracing yourself. Teslas are so impressively quick that many buyers are willing to overlook obvious build-quality issues. Our test vehicle suffered from the same squeaks and rattles we've noticed in other Teslas, and there were also several technology glitches, including one that left the Auto Pilot system unusable. An inoperative backup camera proved to be a bigger inconvenience, as the Model Y's shape effectively reduces rear visibility to zero when trying to back out of a parking space.
Have you compared this to an sq5? Or how do you feel it compares? A fully loaded sq5 is roughly $72k vs a well equipped macan s for $85k…which do you feel is the better value?
@@martinm3480 I drove the “Turbo” which is the base. I understand it isn’t a performance model but I just expected a better overall driver experience. The GV70 also blew it away. Unfortunately there were no S’s available to test.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH sunroof is not just for opening, it's to have additional visual access to outside. People would prefer more on a room with a window on the roof showing the sky vs. no window on the roof which gives no visual access to the sky.
It would be great to see the Porsche against its Audi counterpart, and for that matter, the VW that is closest. For the money… which is the Best Buy for what you get?
@@sauconyful people bought the Aztek too didn't make it a good car 🤣 but hey for the mindless zombies that base their decisions on what others are doing you're still at a loss because MOST people shipping in this class aren't buying the hype or the car...🤷
Maybe limit your channel to cheap cars, if you can't handle a top layer brand such as Porsche without the constant hate-the-rich comments. Be true to yourself.
No Android Auto support? It's 2022. And while BMW is bringing Android Automotive with no phone needed (I know they use Linux too)? Crickets from Apple no standalone Apple OS controlled system. Does it have a lightning port?! 🤣 A proper misstep. The bottom level VW has wireless Android Auto standard 2-3 years ago @ min.
Not worth the service headaches down the road. Not a great value. 115 grand for the Turbo S no thanks. Put your money on the Genesis GV70 for the high quality, advanced technology and superb performance at a great price. Twin turbo V6 at 375 hp plus an 8 speed trans and technology Porsche hasn't even thought of. The GV70 Prestige runs this old badge into the ground hands down. If you're into spending thousands for an old name badge while you are thinking you are getting something special go ahead and buy this money pit.
I hate haptic controls. No one I know likes them, yet all the upscale car makers are putting them in. Makes no sense. Half the time you can't tell if you the functionality was even activated like you can with a real button. As for an electric Macan....who cares. No matter how much pundits and car mags want to say EV is great, it will never be a better holistic experience, key world being holistic, than an ICE. Also, $104k is flat out ridiculous.
Fun Fact: being clean and organized does not mean you have OCD, as you casually claim right at the beginning of the video here. OCD is a serious, debilitating disease that prevents people that have it from leading normal, functional lives. People with actual OCD constantly have unwanted thoughts of hurting/killing those nearest to them wandering through their minds, obsessively wash their hands until their skin bleeds, and in general can't be happy in life because their brains are broken. Stop using the term "OCD" to say you like to be organized or clean, because it minimizes what is a very serious disease for those who actually have it.
Better deal and cara for price Porsche has lost its mind my 2016 macan s was 66k twin turbo panoramic sunroof and red leather Bose system. Same car today 115k lol but they don’t have it the new macan are less hp and other luxury brands are so much less and one final bs the brake dust on Porsche sucks I’ve felt with this shit for 30-40 years I’ve had Porsche since 80’s most brake dust ever ceramic brakes 10-12k
90% of the people who drive these are soccer moms and the only thing they know about it is that it says Porsche on the lift gate and their husband talked them into buying it.
90% of the commenters who post some kind of negativity are just jealous and the only thing they know about it is they don’t have one and their bank account can’t support them buying it.
Soccer mom wouldn't touch this, it has the passenger capacity and cargo capacity of a sedan. It's really a hatchback. In my area it's popular with empty nesters whose kids are gone.
Jesus over 60,000 for a RAV-4 size vehicle. Get a Tahoe for sake price and lord over this little vehicle. Plus you can get the Tahoe fixed anywhere in this vast land with a simple V8 engine. No wonder people can’t find Tahoes at dealers.
@@Seti12345 Yeah same could be said for cars like the Charger and Challenger that have been around for ages ....its still a Q5 chassis...its still an overpriced dated suv...its still has a dated infotainment system....and it's interior quality as standard lags behind its competitors... and best in class is far from true.....other suvs in its class out sell it, offer better interior quality, better features, and are a better fit for most consumers.....you buy a Macan when you can't afford a Cayenne and Have to have a Porsche.....🤷...and a $100,000 suv is expected to be better than it's competition that's $40,000 less....that's common sense...or the lack thereof for paying $40,000 more for a badge
@@ftr911drvr okay I’m sorry but what you’ve said is completely not true, the infotainment is not outdated, it’s a single gen behind what you’ll find in the 911, the car is by far the best sports suv, much better to drive than the Cayenne and the interior quality is SO MUCH BETTER than anything else in its class. I’ve had experience with the Macan and Cayenne and can say the Macan is like a car whereas the Cayenne drives like a fast truck. Compare the quality to its BMW or Mercedes counterparts and you’ll see it’s levels above. You clearly have no experience with this car and shouldn’t make comments that are blatantly untrue
@@Seti12345 guess he's a fanboy🙄 you're commenting on a video thay stated that it doesn't even have the most updated Porsche system let alone compared to its competitors that offer Android Auto and other advanced features....in a world where people are taking pills made to kill worms to stop from getting a virus it doesn't surprise me that people are willfully ignorant to the truth but it's just a car🤷 an old Q5 at that, it's gotta be something better for you to obsess over. .... 🤣🤷😬yikes
Porsche doesn't stand behind the quality of their vehicles. Transfer case on my 2015 Macan S has failed twice now in only 27,000 miles. This is a known issue which caused Porsche to extend their warranty to 7 ys. Their "improved" transfer case lasted only 2 years 2 months and 9,000 miles. I am out of warranty by 6 weeks and Porsche turns their back on problem and sticks me for $3,200 repair. Don't buy a Porsche w/o extended warranty for entire length of time you expect to own it. #1 rated warranty company - Endurance - won't even sell coverage on Macan. That should tell Porsche and all potential buyers something. Customer experience is far from an expected premium car brand experience.
@@ALMX5DP Porsche took alot of the AUDI out of it. In fact Audi working to buy some of the Porsche products back for their cheap ass piece of shit Audi models like the PDK transmission. Audi can only dream of owning those.

@@sbfhawk4343 I removed my comment because I couldn’t verify where i heard the information. Porsche had been developing a PDK in their early Motorsport days and Audi Motorsport was heavily involved with its development for their group B car. Can’t remember where I read the info but it was a report that Audi was really pushing the development forward when Piech essentially prioritized it for Porsche’s use in LeMans when he found it was going to actually be a viable transmission to race with. It was only after that when he allowed Audi to use it as he didn’t want Audi to overshadow Porsche in any way. Again I couldn’t verify where I read that or how much credibility there was for that though.
Please stop making this abomination of a Porsche. Please stop. It’s expensive, inefficient, expensive as hell to maintain and repair and has poor resale value.
