As an owner of the executive variant, I would say that I'm delighted to have selected this variant as per what you've said, I've saved RM20k of my hard-earned money and gets a value for money suv/crossover..driving in a black themed dashboard is way more luxury looking compared to the red colored ones..As a casual driver, this variant is definitely the best to be chosen considering my hard-earned money can be spent elsewhere..All in all, this is the best suv I can have with my tight budget!
True, executive spec is not a kosong spec and it is the best buy among all variants. And I preferred the old school analog meter compared to the LEDs. #teamexecutive
proud executive driver here... woot woot... initially im pretty sad because the app cant fully access if you driving exec variant.. but long after that.. im pretty 101% sure i choose the perfect car for me
I'm having both, executive and flagship. Exec feels more comfort since its having high profile tires. Power is just enough even on hiway 150 feels like 110km/h. Sport mode will transform the drive totally.. Great car with this price. And Flagship, tgdi engine is more smoother and of corse more grunt. Its really like driving a conti hothatch with its agile and precise handling. Love the car 💖
Adrian, yes you were spot-on, this Executive variant definitely worth serious consideration! The black dashboard & seats are a winner. To me, I miss the 360 camera and maybe the roof rails!
Premium owner here. Before this I booked x50 executive but unfortunately during my booking need to change to premium due too long waiting time for this variant. Now I am using premium x50. Some features that I appreciate or cannot live without are 360 camera, electronic seat, and tire pressure monitoring. I supposed if you came from previous car that didn't have these techno, like me too, then I think u will like this exec
me personally prefer the executive interior it just feel more mature. the red on black interior to me feels just to busy and makes the cabin feels less airy.
Proton should make sunroof an optional package and not make it a compulsory accessory together with other ADAS, TGDI engine. Back in the day, I had an Elantra MD with sunroof leaking just a few months after collected the car from show room. Sent it back to SC, SA told me it was due to clogged drain, problems settled then after driving it for less than 3 months it leaked again, second time was due to hardened rubber. It is too much of a hassle to drive a car with sunroof, which is why i gave up ADAS and TGDI engine and go for X50 Premium.
Yeah.. and for long term maintenance and power output consistency, MPI might better. Maybe Geely engine is quite different, but most DI engine suffer carbon built up on the intakes valve due to 'dry air'. Owner need the perform cleaning by using walnut blasting method. I had experienced with Peugeot 1.6THP before. As for MPI the detergent inside the fuel can help cleaning the intake valves, thus no issue on long run (80000 km above).
Planning to get X50 flagship, but after listening and reading your comments, life experience feedback i am convinced firm the same just get this X50 Executive better
The all black leather seats and interior look better and classier than the Premium and Flagship models. However, Proton should include the power windows to all windows, power seat to the drivers seat and add 18" tyres. The rest are not important but all the above are important to me.
I like your clear statement. Great. And mostly the sensibility in making choices. Keep up ur good work. Looking forward to more content like this. User friendly.👍
If you come from Toyota or Honda, yes executive is value buy for you. But if you come from conti cars, premium is more value buy cos we know & appreciate the well worth upgrades.
I do have a small gripe with the X50 i see on the road especially at night. The turn signals, especially the ones on the taillights. The brake lights are bright which is a good thing but if you have either one of the turn signals on, the brake lights can overpowered the amber light.
One thing the exec variant is missing is the accessibility to Proton Link which actually very helpful for the user. Other than that, i'm happy with my exec
I just buy this proton x50 executive cant wait for nextweek tuesday all my hard working 10years before this own a car kancil and viva(second hand) now finallyy have this cute SUV my very first big thank u proton
Nice review Adrian, I also hav always think this variant is the sweet spot for X50. It's either this or go all the way to the top spec Flagship, the other 2 variants tbh are pointless. My 2 cents ...
The way you said it I guess you one one.hehe..I must admit that this car is not really fuel economy but that is why I have a second car from Perodua which saves me alot of fuel for daily routine driving..However I don't have much experience with poor after sales service yet..I've owned the x50 for only 9months & is on 11,000km drive..my younger brother drives the all new corolla cross which is obviously pricier than x50 but my parents kept on saying that my executive x50 is much more comfortable n looks better
@@mohamadazlan913 I guess they are just different categories, if you can afford a 130k car, you probably wouldn't want an 80k car even though it is better right? More expensive doesn't equal to better, it is simply how you value them.
Shocked that the engine of Proton X50 is so inefficient. The exhaust of my 2 month old Executive smells like that from a 6 year old MyVi. No wonder the fuel consumption is so high: 11 liter per 100 km, much higher than that of Mercedes A250!
Great review Adrian. A very nice car in Executive trim. Very stylish. A similar equipment level to my Hyundai Tucson but the Proton looks more sporty. :-)
Actually for my plan to make booking is Executive. After that only aware without blindspot… so decided to cancel end up choosing Ativa AV. Coz myself driving on city, average speed 100km speed. So in more on i need is blindspot… so yeah. If executive have at least blindspot and today I’m driving is x50…
I booked this one but tired of waiting then the sa told me that there’s premium available so i just grab the the premium one. But tbh i really prefer black dashboard
I had this as a rental when i was in Malaysia for 6 months so i have a prety good feeling with this car. Ok, cut to the case. Its BY FAR the worst car i have ever driven lol. The handling is an absolute joke. The interior is reasonably good, but the chairs are a joke. The ergonomic factor is alright. Its very noisy and the 1.5turbo is not smooth and picks up from 2700rpm. Below that, its just dead. The gearbox is like a 1980 DAF. 150HP, sure, it feels like 100HP. Shocks and is slow. Im sorry, but everybody who calls this car good or comfortable has never even driven a close to good car. Brands like Volkswagen, Toyota, Kia, Seat, Skoda are MILES ahead of this car. The gap is HUGE. Not even start about the brands like BMW or Mercedes-Benz. Even a 20 year old E class is 10x better then this car.
Hi, I must have viewed more than half a dozen reviews on X50 of different variants that cover pretty much every feature there is of X50. But none of them talk about the front-seat headsets which dip forward at a sharp angle and cannot be adjusted to allow our head and neck to rest comfortably when we lean back on the seat.
Headsets or headrests are in fact HEAD-RESTRAINTS. They are NOT meant for resting one's head (i.e. for comfort which may result in one dozing off while driving for being too comfortable). They are designed to RESTRAIN one's head to prevent neck from suffering a whiplash when accidents happen. All car manufacturers and reviewers should refer to this seat feature as such to convey its true purpose and accurate function.
I'm very impressed this car even with the entry-level and executive variant but sadly i couldn't found this many of them on the road only I'm saw in dealerships my favourite x50 is all of them because i don't want talk to too much because this car is very good no matter how in trim levels
Why not top up a bit and get the x70 standard, the NVH is one level above the x50. In terms of acceleration, both are quite similar though x70 could be more fuel consuming.
I will wait for a facelift to have all the issues corrected, and choose only the mid spec. I personally dont think we need all those fanciful accessories on our daily driving, save some bucks and use it for meaningful investments.
Drives quite nicely. But after weeks of using, I still can't find a way around the car forcing the JOOX app on me every time I start it up. I just want to see the home screen or map, but no matter how many times I close it out, up pops JOOX again when I come back and start the car. If that's unavoidable, they must have paid Proton a lot for that.
Agree with Adrian, after 6 months of ownership of the X50 Exec, my feedback is that it exceeded my expectations. Please note I drove a B7 Audi A4 before this and the X50 do have that continental feel The funny thing was that the X50 was not on my shortlisted cars until I test driven it. For the money (rm84k), I would say it's impressive The only issue with the X50 Executive is the wait time and the famous hissing sound from the window for all X50. I had to wait for a year for mine
All the huha on the X50. But watch out on the spare parts n warranty claims. The absorbers also got no stock when it comes to claims. Got to wait 6 months. Already almost 2 months n still waiting. Very disappointed even though it is a small issue.😡😡😡 Imagine if it is a bigger issue.
Can I encourage u to test drive both the x50 n city back to back on the same day to get a feel of both cars... I did n I ended up buying the X50 Executive
Dude. One is compact suv and another one is practical sedan. For more practicality and spacious luggage of course City . But for current Trend.i must admit x50 is a looker. The design is quite nice
I went on a test drive with both of the cars and found that the city is more ergonomic overall. For the X50, I couldn’t really get a comfortable driving position and the seat wasn’t supportive enough. X50 might be more impressive on paper with its bells and whistles but the city has more attention to the details. A simple test drive will help with the decision
Having the car for a month I noticed that upon start sometimes the car vibrates violently for a second, i mean really violent not a simple vibration. I guess is the engine balancing trying to do is job on the unbalanced 3 piston....?? Disappointing 😞 if it's normal...
for our weather, prefer no sunroof, fabric seats. higher profile tires for comfort, safety and cost. only halogen very cheap maintenance rm 30 compare to rm 350. don't be idiot just to follow trend and look better. they even sometimes have FAKE pathetic exhaust to look better.
Hi could you show us the reverse cam for executive version as I do have a big concern as my previous car does have 360 cam but if the reverse cam is good enough maybe I can just live with it. Thanks!
@@aldenloo6424 - Eco mode . And I also adjust steering mode (EPS) to sport mode. Feel more confident and stable handling. Before 1000km the fuel consumption at 11.3ltr/100km. After 1st 1000km service ,the fuel consumption dropped to average 9ltr/100km till now.
I own the executive variant, I was wondering if someone is having problems starting the car after been in the garage for more that 2 days, it won't start. The solution it's always start with the remote. Anyone?!
Received my flagship X50 after waiting 11 months. Gear box actuator oil leaking after 2 months driving.. My case is 2nd case reported at the same 4S center.. 1st case taken 2 months to complete repair... High spec car with lousy service..
@@galaxymetta5974 the corolla cross is around the same weight as X50 but has significantly better fuel economy. I think that the X50 just wasn't built with FC in mind, more towards performance and some touches of luxury. And CR-V i believe also has better fc
@@ndt2046 cr-v and Toyota cross is more expensive than X50. You use the money you save from buying Toyota or Honda, then you can buy all the petrol you want plus some extra cash left.
@@skevin83 of course, i know that. My original point as you can see above is just that the fc is really bad that's all. Still a value buy because of local favourable tax system but a square is a square.
Any owner who has the car since the launch would like to share the experience? Been considering this car but have known a few people who don't recommend this car. Most issues i hear are the cvt jerking and no spare parts
@@pathfinder9461 my bad, not cvt but dct. But still I've known 2 person who complains of jerking transmission. When asked sc either it's made like that or don't know
