Is that a standard issue oil remover contraption? Lol that’s a very good idea. I’ve had one lying around for years now I know what to use it for. Thanks

As others have said, buy the proper tools. It will make life easier and save you money in the long run. You will end up rounding off your oil pan bolt if you keep doing it the way you're doing it. The hardest part about the oil change is indeed the oil filter removal. I personally found coming in from the front of the truck and placing my filter wrench on it is the easiest way (not that easy but better than coming in from the side and behind the engine) to take the filter off. And the truck takes 7 qts. of 0w-20 oil. However thanks for taking time to film your oil change. I'm sure it will help some folks.

I have the socket for it. For the video I had this on hand. Next time I'll use the socket.

My 4x4 is a little different - the filter is tucked up by the power steering... I put 6 and a half quarts of penzoil platinum 5-30... this was my first change on this truck... good enough - had my neighbor helping out... thanks, neighbors : )

Ok, I have a REALLY dumb question & hoping you will answer me. I pulled up your video to see what it looked like under the hood of your 2022 RAM 1500. I'm not mechanical (as in I never look under the hood) & today while detailing my 2022 RAM 1500 decided to wipe the dirt & dust of some of the plastic engine parts. So, I opened my hood for the first time & there is no large plastic cowling covering the front part of the engine, (like the one I had in my Jeep Wrangler). So, I instantly thought someplace where I got an oil change may have removed it & forgot to put it back on. My engine looks EXACTLY like yours in the beginning where you show the blue funnel. I have the little black plastic cowling in the rear of the engine, but was expecting the ENTIRE front of the engine to be covered with one. Did yours have a large front plastic engine cover & you just removed it? Again, my engine looks exactly like I see in your segment where you first show the blue funnel. I hope you can answer this for me, Thanks so much !!!

My Engine has all the plastic heat deflect shields as it comes stock. Some trucks come stock with fancy plastic Engine heat deflection shields which block heat and you can actually lean on the hood and it's not hot. I wouldn't worry about that tho as long as everything and all your Engine components are there.

I agree my friend, but with limited tools sometimes this is a good idea.

Ow 40???? I haven’t seen that anywhere. Just about to do an oil change, with the recommended 5-20.

Been reading alot on the Forums and alot of comments on the 0w-40 for a very compatible oil. A 0w-40 and a 0w-20 are the same things at extremely low temperature. Both are SAE rated to crank at -35°C and pump at -40°C. At high temperature the 40 does not thin out as much as the 20, which can provide a thicker minimum oil film thickness and greater film strength, preventing wear.

To all there own though, I change my oil every 5,000 miles and my truck loves this oil and runs great without any kind of tick on the valve train.
