2022 Range Rover sport 3000 mile review what I hate about it  

Beautiful looking car and honest review. Not sure I could let it get so dirty if it was mine!

Great review. Maybe I'm picky but, for this price, you'd expect everything to be perfect.

Being able to one of these and then treating it like it’s an old work horse is an interesting power move.

Olly thanks for this review as like Harry Metcalfe you are honest in what you like and don't like and can point out how they could improve things. You are a person who says it like it is and not a person who says a vehicle is brilliant but once they sell it only then you hear about all the faults. Just like in the tractors sometimes the designers never seen to have Spent time using the vehicle as switches and things are put in funny places is or a screen that has to be used while driving to do a simple task that a button or knob has done easily for decades. Thanks Olly for this real world review.... Keep up the great work.

Hi Olly, at 2:30 - if it's not always responding to your press, I would recommend turning off haptic feedback in quick settings, this should make it much easier to use

Agree with absolutely everything you say mine has done 2000’miles now. Getting 57 ev range in warmer weather.

Great points and agree the filler flaps are a flimsy joke and should be like the Taycan. At this price point I'd like to think a simple LED ring light would be fitted around the EV socket which I also find a PITA at night. Oh and before I forget make sure to get the small mud flaps when you take delivery as for the ~£450 cost for both front and rear its well worth it and really should come standard👍

Hello olly I can’t believe how flimsy the fuel cap is and the electric charge cap it does sleeker than the 20 plate you had they just need to make the caps better quality 👍👍

i have the latest evoque and the flat tray behind the centre dash is for wireless charging of iphone, be very suprised if yours doesnt have it, then you dont have the charging lead issue

Good review olly I’ve had brand new Kia Sportage PHEV since August and I love it get 60kms on EV only but have had 70kms on a good run by regeneration loads of toys in it and it’s definitely saving me money to run compared to my old Diesel car it replaced getting on average 80mpg was up around 100mpg but has decreased since I did some longer runs in it and had to run in HEV mode just need to get my home charger fitted and a decent night rate for the electricity but currently on fixed price deal for another 8 months. Need to look at investing in solar for house next.

The problem with the boot liner and the storage foldout seem like it could have been solved by Land Rover with a liner that can easily fold back along the same line.

Have a 2021 disco sport and a 2021 velar both plagued with electrical faults! The velar particularly! Had the entire dash and screen turn off mid journey on the velar! Might have to chop it in for a sport!

Well done you 3 months old and only one problem. That must be a record for a R/Rover. What the hell it's going to look like at a year old is anyone guess, as it look like it's in a real mess at present. That's of cause it' s still going??? Best of luck.

Hi Olly did you see all the queue’s for the charge points across the country over Christmas, full electric is not the way forward. 👍🏻

OLLY you can fix the number plates with some double sided tape at the side of the plates. IT Will pull in the plates flush with the bumpers.

I've got a Press article from about 2009 regarding the all new Evoque. JLR claimed at launch it would have their new hydrogen power pack as an option. I wonder if the petroleum industry had a quiet word to stop the release. Still hasn't happened.

I sat in a Sport with the new Meridian Surround 3D - it kinda sounded odd to me compared to the stunning system of the previous gen

I’ve never understood why they’re stopping sale of new Hybrids. I’d have thought that that would be the best way until hydrogen is in full production. Zero range anxiety and less need to put charging stations everywhere. Especially if they where able to charge the batteries from the engine while you were using it. I know some are self charging but imagine if they all were. Driving in petrol/diesel mode on the motorway while charging the batteries for town use. Surely all it would need is more powerful alternators or even two and a split charger. I like your car, funny how some get dirtier in certain places. As someone who had a mobile valeting business I found VW Golf’s always got grubby rear ends. As you said it must be something to do with aerodynamics. I see that JCB are developing Hydrogen Combustion Engines. Can you see tractors going down that route?

They are all moving the charge point to the rear so the front is pointing out at public charge points. Your inconvenience for a slight marketing value.

Always loved the Sport and nearly bought one in 2019, but ended up sticking with X5. Got a new Defender on order to replace Amarok.

Hybrid best solution when doing local mileage but also with a petrol engine your not limited to distance

Thought on the boot, could your mate who makes seed socks, make a liner with a flap that would aloow for the compartment in the boot?

Still undecided on these, to me compared to the L494 it’s a bit “Plain Jane” . Here’s hoping the SVR is a bit more aggressive looking

Olly I duno if the sport has the same feature but on the disco 5 you can stick your foot under the bumper to open the boot lid as if you have hands full of shopping to make opening easy Duno if they carried it on with newer models mite be worth a look

I run the supercharged sport, I can’t get on board with the electric side of these range rovers , the distance between charging is ridiculous and to be fair other manufacturers are just as bad. The technology is just not there yet to make them usable and when everything is all electric in a few years time I can see nothing but hassle with the charging.

My 71 plate crossland has the same camera system and heated seats, steering wheel

My dad went to have a look at a range Rover sport for when he retired and he actually bought a Volvo xc60, they are incredible cars, very easy touch screen, very reliable, I honestly cannot pick a fault with ours.

I have a 08 reg Freelander what has been a good vehicle, but why do land rover have a very poor break down record and garages say don't buy them.

Interesting that my Discovery Sport rear Boot release is easier to find, right under the "O" on the badge, do your puddle lights show an outline on the ground? Also found I could set up a proper digital looking clock in middle of centre screen. Dealership had NO idea.

I drive around the country all week every week. Of all the breakdowns I see, Range-rovers are the most prevalent. I also personally know three people who have them and they all have had issues. I would never buy one.

For me white is a poor colour choice for the UK. It will work in places like Dubai where all their expensive cars are mostly white and with warm weather all year round it won't always get too dirty

I just don't do Landrover/Rangerover any more. I still have a couple of old series Landys and I used to have Discos, which rotted away (TD5 got nicked) They are now overcomplicated, unreliable and I've become a technophobe (in my old age)... Oh, and snobby dealers
