Sydney Academy became a Cape Breton High School hockey powerhouse during the 1970's and 80's. The program captured numerous provincial titles and produced elite players who graduated and moved onto to become stars in junior, small college and university leagues across North America. For the past few years the team's hockey team has held an alumni game with players coming from across the province to re-connect with old teammates. This year the alum gathered at the Halifax Scotiabank Centre and had a strong turnout including stars from the past including goaltender Ken Bickerton, Dana MacQueen, Mike Peck and Sheldon Hanna.
