You think that rivian is the problem when this guy straight up comes to a complete stop in the middle of a public street to get a 0-60 with cars behind him?
It’s not just fast evs people do this in their fast ICE cars too. They’re just showing off to a car in similar class. Nothing wrong with people having a little fun. Lighten up
Doesnt it just make you have tunnel vision every time you launch it,its insane. You gotta be prepared otherwise you'll slam your head back on the headrest.
Actually I didn't get that sensation too much. If you focus on what's ahead of you and breathe, you won't come across tunnel vision. Only in some unexpected instances. It wasn't as scary or crazy as I initially expected it to be. Maybe I am just used to fast cars at this point. All I can say is a Nascar ride or a good roller coaster gives way more g forces.
@@DMCarReviews maybe if you put a person in it that hasnt experienced that level of acceleration in their life then i would say they would have tunnel vision for sure.
In my opinion, that car is straight out dangerous. It weighs over 5000 lbs, has awful brakes that overheat fast. Handles like a boat. I've even heard steering wheels and pedals fall of on these cars. I personally would stay away from such cars.
I agree! There is really no use for this power on the street. Especially not with its handling and brakes. I almost slided out at 80mph trying to take a curve at the end of the video with the Rivian. I had to floor it to get to the Rivian too😂 Some guy in a 430i floored it past me, I put the car in Plaid mode, and it still took me some time to catch up to him, but if I were to to actually pass him the speed would go into the triple speeds easily. The handling didn't feel very secure at higher speeds in my opinion. Great cruiser but definitely not meant for taking fast corners.
Nah! The SF90 is a faster car on the highway. Also as charge goes down, the Plaid gets slower. Over 40,000 miles, many owners are also noticing some power degradations.
@@DMCarReviews objectively the plaid IS faster. 60-130 is faster by over half a second lol, the SF90 is 5.5 and the plaid is 4.6. And no. The plaid has different battery chemistry and cell layout than a model 3. Same reason why the model 3 hits a wall at high speed and the plaid does not.
@@Skeppyberry Nah, the Plaid is in the low 5s on the 60-130, especially with the bigger wheels. Its in the 4s for the 100-200 kmh. It's fast, but not AS fast as it's posed to be. Obviously after 130 it will loose to any similarly powered ICE cars. It's got more power than a Model 3, obviously it will pull harder.
@@Skeppyberry I'm not arguing with a freshman high school student about performance of cars that I personally test and measure. Not worth the time and effort. Thank you for watching!
The rear seat leg room wasn't very good. Why does an EV need a long hood like an ICE car? There's no motor in the front. If you made the car with a shorter bonnet you would have much more rear leg room.
Not really. The 0-60 "feeling" isn't much different, still gives you similar emotions. I doubt acceleration from 100+ matters due to our speed limits. If money isn't a concern, then just get the Plaid.
@@DMCarReviews Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate that you reply to your viewers. You are much needed in the car community since you don’t sugarcoat your experience. I like your use of a draggy with and without launch control on many of your videos. It eliminates having to search for separate drag race videos or 0-60/quarter mile times. Most reviewers just drive but never show analytics. You’ll stand out in no time.
You needed to try cheetah stance mode for the real best launch. And when you said only the 0-60 is the real deal…it isn’t…they made the plaid have constant acceleration right up to the top speed unlike other teslas keep in mind.
I already got 2.4s 0-60 on an unprepped surface, which is as fast as other reviewers got on cheetah stance. The power and torque is instant, so it doesn't give you any benefits to launch. As far as the acceleration effect, past 80 I don't feel as much. It's good, strong power, but gave me no "wow" effect past certain speeds. 0-60/0-80 felt great, but floor it off 70-80, feels fast but not the same as the 0-60. The 62-124mph is about 4.5 seconds, so on that speed range it feels like a 4.5 second 0-60 car. In both cases you are accelerating a difference of 60mph. If you floor it off 30, you'll feel a very strong push and you get pushed to the seat. Floor it off 80, feels fast, but not anything crazy.
