I think it is always a perspective thing. You wish you have an Autobahn, and we wish to have less strict emission regulations like you have, our sport cars exhaust sound is really bad….OPF is ruining everything. It is always sad to watch comparisons of the same car with a stock exhaust EU vs US.
@@davefitzpatrick4841come on man you don’t wanna see people in their poop bucket mobiles going full throttle at 93 mph clogging up the fast lane? Or the clueless grandmothers in their minivans going 35 mph on the highway while everyone else is trying to go 100+ 😂
You really do need to FEEL what instant torque and AWD is like in these cars. There's nothing else from the factory really like it. I've come from decades of driving ICE performance cars, heavily tuned; had a supercharged 355 Camaro, just sold a tuned Stage II WRX which was phenomenal out of a dig. I test drove a Model 3 LR-not even a performance-and was blown away by how effortless it threw me back into the seat. If you're on the fence, just go test drive one. My new daily driver Model 3 Performance arrives this week, I can't wait. Now to look into a manual Supra or M2 for a weekend car... 😈😈
I was thinking a combo of Model 3 RWD as a daily and GR Yaris as weekend car. It's both cost-effective and this Model 3 variant doesn't take off the shine of accelerating in the GR Yaris 😂
@@aravindradhakrishna8660 The Yaris would like be a lot more fun to drive since you can throw it into corners, row the gears yourself (I'm going to miss that a lot), and indulge in the exhaust note. But a dual motor Model 3 is a perfect daily for car enthusiasts, imo.
Thats is so true . I'v been driving tuned hothatches for all my life my last car was a stage 3 golf R . Now i have m3 LR and the instant torque is just insane no waiting for the revs its just there under your foot ready to go ...🤘
great video, this is exactly what i am going to use the car for. Mid range 100 to 200km/h is critical. How the car to sustain at 263km/h for such long duration is impressive ! how i wish Tesla to add a buffer stage with super cap to compensate a 20 seconds peak current dump to further boosting the performance.
Love that Tesla really improved the quality and the overall experience. This car is kinda insane for the price. I don't think there is anything brand new that offers what this car does for around $50,000.
Actually for current performance drivers in Europe (21-23 refresh), there is not so much to celebrate about. Especially the perfomance 0-100 and top speeds are the same than in the previous model. The previous came with the Panasonic battery, just like this one in US. Really interesting, why they did not bring the same battery to Europe again.
There’s a new suspension with adjustability and better comfort, a new more aggressive and cooler look, wider rear tyres for better grip. Also better NVH I believe. That’s a lot if you ask me.
@@mrmichrom8553 a no-brainer if you don’t have one. If you have, you get way better suspension by putting Mountain Pass Performance parts or something else really designed for heavy driving. Also if people really look after comfort in performance cars (which I don’t understand at all), the only way to get is to get high quality adjustable suspension. The factory parts are never on that level, no matter how adaptive they try to make it. But yes for 60k, amazing car, cannot disagree.
Quietness over 200 km/h speed and 0-200 kmh are rather impressive. In 100-200 km/h clip, it sounded like the suspension bottomed out for reason or other. This did not cut the wings on rumours that the battery of new Model 3 Performance overheats after 5 to 10 minutes in max speed/acceleration. I drove A7 all the way from the north border to Ulm, averaging 150 km/h in diesel Passat already 25 years ago (south of Hannover 180 km/h). There are probably less unrestricted legs nowadays, though.
It's not...tesla always puts an average hp not peak hp. The old model 3 performance has dynod closer to 550hp peak so this probably peaks around the same or slightly higher
@@mikaelvellmun7228 Oh so they do exactly like BMW. And if the old one peak'd at 550hp on a dyno, then this one is definitely more. There are many videos showing that its faster for sure than the previous ones. What a beast of a car for it's price!!!
Someone already shared he has hit 538hp peak in his 2024 Panasonic m3p with 49% soc in 90° weather and ran a 10.78 in the 1/4mile. Verified by dragy as valid. Only mod was light weight 18s with some as 235/45/18" tires he used on his older m3p. 😀👍🏻
@@youonlyneedacar 10.78 verified only mod was light weight 18s with 235 as and he claims it was spinning a bit even at the track. So might have low 10.7s or even a 10.6 in IT? 91° da 2936ft in nc. No ice car is running to good in those conditions. Un fkn believable deal dollar for dollar at $54,990 without any ev credits imo. Imagine the projects for ev converted awd elktromods once these start getting wrecked and parted out! I wanna do a 55-57 Chevy with a complete new m3p chassis&powertrain. 👍🏻😎
Everyone asking what the consumption is at the top speed. It’s funny. I can’t remember the last time someone asked what the consumption was of a 911 turbo S at top speed. Does anyone really care?! I guess some do? I’m curious just for the point of it as I enjoy pouring over numbers. I’m going to guess and say 300wh/km!
@@adelinosousa8251 who cares about gas anymore? I just want to see the sustained use rates to do the longevity math when at speed. We may not have the autobahn in the states, but we do have an ev canonball.
Great car! It’s listed as 510 hp in Canada and 2.9 0-60 with 1 foot rollout. I can’t imagine this would be so different. It’s the highland model right?
Nice ride! I agree about the stalks! I could learn to live with turn indicator buttons so long as they activate reliably. But I had a similar reaction to the elimination of the drive selector stalk during my test drive. I attempted both a three-point-turn and manual parallel parking and it was slow and awkward to look to the screen and swipe each time I changed direction. I have heard many people say, "you get used to it".
Thanks for sharing - exhilarating just watching! What state was your front trim from bug splatter at that speed? Or is that why you went for a dark colour?
I dont understand why they want those arrows instead of the traditional way to use left or right blinkers. Its confusion when wheel arent at neutral. Other way is always up or down
@@romansenger2322Mind that Model 3 2024 has drag coefficient of 0.219 and RWD model is currently the most efficient EV on the market. Range drop isn't as significant at higher speeds when compared to most EVs due to its low drag
@@rouchar The Model S Long Range still holds the record for the 75 mph average speed highway run with a range of 320 miles. 75 mph translates to 120 kph. Now 150 kph is 25% more than that. These electric cars already drop a huge chunk of range if you are going 10 kph faster. Imagine 30 kph. Maybe the Model S Long Range is capable of doing 350-ish at those speeds, but thats about it
Depends on the road and tyre conditions, but typically coefficient of friction for dry asphalt is 0.7. So braking distance at 263 km/h would be 388.6 meters. That excludes reaction time, though.
I’m really struggling and debating on getting a LR model 3 or wait and get a model Y when the juniper comes out. Since I’ve heard a rumor saying that it’ll get 500 miles to a single charge
Not to be a downer, but I don't think tesla is releasing any car with 500 mile range, best you will get is in the 400 range, which I think is plenty plus very fast charge rate, coupled with efficiency and Super charge network. More range means you will actually be sitting at a super charger longer if you want 100%. Even my Ford fusion has about 300 mile range, a tesla will actually be an upgrade for me in terms of range and efficiency.
Sheeeeeshhhhh!!!!!! He's moving lol, started to just look like a loading screen and the car was standing still! Hopefully juniper MY refresh is close to this
Just note the lane discipline. If only semis and slower moving vehicles would be limited to the right lanes, our Interstates and all other limited access roads would be much safer and efficient to drive on.
Being from Europe and seeing videos where 18 Wheelers drive on any lane, I think is just crazy and it would make me feel unsafe on the freeway, being used to them using the 2 lane only to overtake other trucks. I don t really know about other countries in Europe so much, but in Germany it is ilegal to drive in the left lane, if the right one is free to use. At higher speeds it can be tolerated because maybe changing the lane in some cases would be unsafe but as a rule, you always have to keep right.
I love it. But I would miss the stalks. Looks like a car that is very sensitive to small corrections at high speed, I’m I right? My LR21 awd kicks ass too, but isn’t as sensitive at high speeds.
It can get a little unstable in some situations like at min 5:17, when I pass the car and the truck it kind of pushes me wide and needs a little correction, but at those speeds, most cars do some minor movements in some situations.
Great video. Curious why your passenger would ride in the backseat like a hostage on a top speed run 😂. Have you tried aggressively braking from high speed? You really feel this car’s weight when doing such. Are there no bugs on the autobahn?
Hahaha she wanted to stay in the back for the video to not be seen😂. Yes I tried and it is not so co comfortable, you have to put a lot of force on the brake pedal and really feel the weight “fighting you back”. Feels weird but stops good. Had to do an emergency braking from around 220kmh(136mph) an hour before filming and it did a great job.
I drive a Model 3 MJ21 AWD+ with 496 hp and Vmax 235 km/h, but normally I only accelerate up to 220 km/h. Then I recharge every 150-200km at a Tesla or Ionity HPC. Overall you don't save time (driving faster and charging longer), but it is more fun 😃 I also drive in such a way, that the energy is almost fully recovered during the decelaration phases (220 --> 120 km/h).
@@youonlyneedacar ye Porsche is glued to the road. Oh well I might get a tesla performance next year. I need a sport car but need money to invest, technically I will drive for free.
Nice review, thanks! But why was the 0-200 so incredibly slow (14,5s)? Was it in standard mode or was it in insane? Maybe too high motor or battery temperature?
Thank you, it was in insane mode but I don t really know if or why that was slow. I also did it on another try where the temperature was definitely lower and it felt similar. Could be that the temperature was too high (charged at the supercharger around 30% before starting the drive). Around minute 11 I did a 100-200 and that was even slower than the 0-200.
I just checked the times for the old performance and it does a 0-200 in 16 seconds. So around 14,5 (maybe 1s faster with optimal temperatures) could make sense, those 1.5-2 seconds are a big difference keeping in mind the new model has 53 hp less.
@@youonlyneedacar Thank you for this valuable feedback! The LG pack is able (soc 90%) in 0-200 in around 12,0s. There are multiple video's confirming this. Which soc was it roughly during your runs? By the way the US Panasonic pack runs 11s to 200! And my m3P 2020 runs 14s 0-200 easy! Hopefully it's just an anomaly. Next thursday I'm getting my one. Nice car anyway!!
A great video! How long a tesla model 3 can travel with 100% battery? For example, from texas to nebraska? How can you recharge the battery in the middle of nowhere?
Just did a trip from Miami to Orlando, Florida, left home with 100% and got to my destination with around 25%. It was an afternoon drive, with a decent portion of it having awful rainy weather and traffic because of it. On a day to day though, I only charge to around 70% and drive around 50 miles per day, leaving me with about 60% by the end of the day. These things are crazy efficient. Also, keep in mind that technically anywhere there is power is a place you can charge. You don't only have to use Tesla chargers as there are adapters to use 3rd party charging stations, or you can also use the standard mobile charger to plug into a regular wall outlet. How fast or slow it charges can vary depending on what you are using to charge.
I'd say only the pricing is the revolutionary bit of the M3P. The materials and the cabin ambiance are definitely way better, but I need the stalks back.
As I recall, they were limited to 235 until the rear spoiler was attached, which was to include a re-flash at the same time increasing the top speed to 262. Sounds like your was never re-flashed.
Depends on what you are after. If you want performance, then yes this is pretty insane as far as performance goes, while the long range still offers decent performance but not on the same level. If you care more about range, however, the long range is definitely the way to go. This performance model has newer suspension that make it much more customizable to the driving as well.
