Servite senior Max Thomas wows the crowd with a big mid-season performance in the 200 Invitational heat at the Trabuco Hills Invitational in Mission Viejo, California on April 2, 2022. As of this publishing date, his finish is the third-best (all conditions) in the United States so far this year.

Congratulations to this young man on his amazing achievement. Having said this, I was one of MATT BRUNO's coaches from back in the year 2002 (the kid who previously had the Orange County record for the boys' 200 meters.) Not that it matters, but during the 2002 season, Matt Bruno also ran times of 20.73 and 20.77, both of which were marked as "wind-aided", because the wind gauge was NOT working at the time of these races. It was NOT because his times were officially 'wind-aided". We protested this decision, but for the purposes of record keeping, the CIF would not let these times stand as records. He also ran a windy 10.33 for the 100m, but I admit, this time actually WAS wind-aided. (2.7 m/s.)

calm down...its only 20.78...its a good time..but the announcer is actin like its out of this world...great job though

For high school, it is. 2nd-fastest wind-legal HS 200m time in the country so far. Try having some perspective.

@@TheHuskyK9 yes I know It is..I know track and field...very well..the announcer did his job but the reaction and hype doesn't match the time...just sayin

@Mitriihe's fast..dont get me wrong..but 20.7 in the 200 is and have always been common in the top ranking spots for hs sprinters...hes great but at the same time...this is nothing new..and your 25 in the 200 is pathetic...work harder...a few years ago there was a 12 year old girl in Jamaica named Brianna Lyston who ran 23.47 - dont settle for 25..make it hurt

@Mitrii i think i came off wrong and insensitive..im sorry..he is a beast but his time is not...i wasnt down playing the athlete, just the reaction of the announcer to his time..his time is fast but it will be a beast at state..thats all..also to your 25 200...DONT SETTLE FOR THAT.
