Scott Kilmer approved this mid size SUV to last forever, I tested my friend's Corrola Cross and totally loved with it. Very comfortable as Lexus NX series but on cheaper side.
@@truereality101 My Hatchback gets 40 mpg, crossovers are less efficient than hatchback matter of fact they are just lifted sedans nothing else, you can make a suv look sporty but you can never beat physics and aerodynamics
I've got an 09 Corolla that I bought brand new in 08 and it runs like the day I bought it. I'm expecting to get at least another 10 years out of it even though I'll be buying another car in about 3 or 4 more years.
I like it!!! The form of the vehicle could look better (though this is only personal preference and others will love its shape), but the space, functionality, price, technology, and fuel economy are on point!!! Thank you KBB! Thank you Mr. Muzio!
Toyota did well for this category. I like the CHR, but it also looks like an anime spaceship. While this is not exciting, it looks good as a mini suv. “Adequate” hp is much better than the “underpowered” offerings in this sub compact class.
The CHR is ugly, otherwise I’d snag it up. I have a 2014 Yaris, mind you, and am ok with the “lame” look of little cards. I agree that the CHR looks like an anime space ship. This corolla cross is awesome. The RAV4 is too big for my taste. I hope the price of this car is comparable to that of the Hyundai Kona or Subaru Crosstrek. Finding out about this new model of Toyota has changed the game for me.
@@Sam_Antha74 I had a 2012 Toyota Yaris, and I loved that little hatchback. I had 160,000 miles on it, and never had a problem. Sadly it was totaled. The Corolla Cross will be a seller, but you may want to look at the reviews. It only has 169HP. It's not very quick. Can you imagine it with 4 people, and loaded?
"'I'm not gonna say that was fun, but we did change directions." Classic Micah. For the man who knows he needs to pay The Man. My man Micah, master of the backhanded compliment! Me: So, Micah, tell me you're underwhelmed without telling me you're underwhelmed. Micah: Here, Brian, hold my beer.
Ha! You're very kind. I really think Toyota has a hit on its hands but the sales will come from packaging, pricing, and perceived reliability...not driving fun.
We rented a Cross in Sonoma for the weekend. Very comfortable, good handling and plenty of room for 4 with luggage. Up and down the hills to the wineries, in town and to the coast and back. 38 mpg, and not a hybrid.
I hope the Corolla cross doesnt kill off the normal sedan and hatchback Corollas. I mean it is a neat little crossover, however I still like the Corolla sedan a bit more. It is lower so it handles better and as a sedan looks more elegant to me. To each their own I guess :)
Toyota is ding an excellent job with their vehicles now. the funny thing, i have a hybrid rav4, when i when was looking at it, i contemplated the lexus ux. What drove me to the toyota was the infotainment system. mind u the lexus screen design and placement to me is more luxury looking, looks like the bmw cars more than any other, but the system itself sucks. the seats are nicer looking and materials are a little better looking and feeling than the rav i have, but its small things idc about. it has a better motor the 2.5 instead of the 2.0. better ground clearance, and literally for the same mpg as a vehicle much smaller inside, esp the rear of it, not that i really care but it makes a diff if i ever choose to bring some passengers along with me. i like the dials of the climate controls. i like the bottom of the windshield has the defroster lines like the rear window. its just the little things they do that make it awesome and its the 5th generation and the only rav 4 i partially think doesn't only look like a cheap ass Japanese economy vehicle. If you get in rival vehicles like the rouge for instance, this thing drives night and day diff. the trans is so smooth i dont ever even know when my engine is running, i legit cannot ever tell if its on lol. they did such a good job with sound detinning on this, its incredible to be honest. I had a 2013 bmw 535 xi and a 2017 330e. neither of those were that good with sound, but in their defense bmw i think tries to let you heat their motors more than other luxury brands. I'm impressed. it gets such good mpg i hope they get similar mpg on a tacoma one day n id jump back in one in a sec. You can't go wrong in either vehicle, the lexus is still a special little suv, super nice inside, but the rav is nicer than most would think, esp with its stiched dash a some other panels youd never see on vehicles in this segment.
Yesss LE very impressive for price point around 25K., but ppl saying dealerships hiking up the prices anywhere frm 5-9K., Smh.. XLE looks nice too w/ Sunroof feel like window might crack or slide off or something idk, Lol.. but LE seems like the way to go;)
The proprietary CVT Toyota transmission has a real first gear. That makes a HUGE positive difference. Once 1st gear is done THEN it becomes constantly variable. Arguably the best CVT on the market. As far as I know all Toyota CVT's are made this way now. The Cross as well. The Corolla Cross is going to sell faster than crack.
Great point. BTW, the Toyota CHR and the Corolla L trims still have the old-fashioned CVT with no first gear. Only the Corolla SE/XSE sedan/hatchback and Corolla Cross have the good CVT. I wish Micah had mentioned the first gear.
@@jtns2845 This will have better fuel economy than the 6 speed automatic. CAFE standards set by the EPA force automakers to make their small vehicles as fuel efficient as possible. Blame the government.
True, but the overall cost of ownership is low over time. Pay more up front, but get a reliable vehicle that just works. I’ve never had major repairs on any of the Toyotas I’ve owned.
This Corolla Cross has gotten tremendously popular here in Colombia in the last year or so, Specially for their Hybrid powertrain (I'd say 9 out of 10 sold here are being Hybrids).
They had an suv crossover this size about 10 years ago or less ,it's called the rav4. They've made the rav4 so much bigger from what it was as well as the highlander. All they're doing is replacing what they made larger.
We don't like "averages" when it comes to choosing a car. Next time please mention how tall you are before showing the interior of a car. I'm tall and need the info. *thnx!*
Been a Toyota Corolla fan since it was my brother first car and my first car, was watching a car auction show and saw a Corolla cross commercial and got so excited
I really like the light cloth interior. Looks so bright and spacious unlike black interiors . Perfect for Florida . And traditional key is a plus . Now if I could get a radio and get rid of the screen .
Nice job. Looks like Toyota hit another home run with the Cross! At the price for this small to midsize suv & Toyota dependability its a no brainer! With gas prices at near $4/gal and rising monthly it's practical for budget dependents as well!
Great idea!!!! I have a 2008 and I'm ready to sell mine or keep as a backup and possibly buy this. The Rav 4 is so expensive. My Corolla has been the best car ever! I bought it used in 2009.
I'm so sick of these names of famous car names being tossed on SUV's just to try to get them to sell. You think they would actually think of a new name. Just over these things at this point.
Dude, you can change the colour (which also mildly changes the icon theme) to red and it’s way better. . I have a 2019 and it’s there, and it’s an IDENTICAL interface so you can definitely do it in this one. There is also an old-man brown and an actually dull grey, but the red is nice.
Toyota fix the problem with the C-HR, the Corolla Cross is just a better package C-HR, remember the C-HR was supposed to be a Scion, not a Toyota, it should put a lot of pressure on the C-HR and Corolla sales, Toyota has been doing this a lot lately, sharing wheelbase lengths, the current RAV4 and Venza started it, now the C-HR / Lexus UX and Corolla Cross share their wheelbases (all 3 are 103.9 inches, Corolla Cross is 3 inches longer, 1.2 inches wider, and 2.2 inches taller than the C-HR), Toyota does make it slightly bigger, the C-HR is the coupe-styled CUV and the Corolla Cross is more of a traditional styled CUV, at least it offers AWD unlike the C-HR (remember the C-HR only comes in a FWD setup, the Lexus UX offers a hybrid AWD setup)
This AWD Corolla Cross hit me like a "deer in the headlights". As a current 2019 Kona (1.6L Turbo) driver, I am looking at the 2022 Kona (same engine, more HP) in November when my lease is up. Sounds like the Kona 1.6L Turbo wins that race hands down. However, once local Southern NJ dealers get these two SUV in stock, I will check them out!
As I'm watching the 2nd half of the video, I realized that the 2022 Kona (upgraded trims) are a much better vehicle. More hp, 10" infotainment screen, DCT instead of CVT, and did I mention, more HP. Thanks for reminding me why I went with Hyundai over Toyota way back in 2013. Haven't left Hyundai since!!
I was looking at the 22 Kona N-Line (turbo sporty version) and chose the Corolla over it. I had too much issues with hyundai in the past. Including in a Elantra with the same 1.6t and dct. I will say the Kona looks better and more power. But thats about it.
i have a corolla cross with 2.0 engine. i use extreme driving style to get 5.0L/100km, which is 47 MPG. i never go over 100km/h, seldom let the engine go over 2500rpm when accelerating and hyper mill when ever possible. so l smile when i see the gas pump, and its a different kind of fun to squeeze for MPG.
I’m glad that Toyota is replacing the CHR with this Corolla Cross. Hope it stacks up well against the beautiful Subaru Crosstrek, reliable Honda HRV, and affordable Hyundai Kona.
@@jermainedouglas7301 depends on where you're watching from, but Nissan doesn't sell the Juke in the US anymore. They still make them for Europe, though.
Great Review! I love this vehicle. Best car I ever had was '92 Corolla. I'm on my 3rd Nissan now which is a 2013 Juke I just love with 77,000 miles, but it requires Premium gas and I'm a little leery of the turbo lasting forever. I was thinking on an HRV until I discovered this Toyota. Thanks for the info you mentioned about the HRV too. I don't need an upgrade car but am a huge car enthusiast who loves to be behind the wheel often as I can. Your thoughts appreciated... (L model all I need) bill
If you like the juke then you’ll really like the CHR they’re very similar. The biggest difference is the non-turbo engine I owned a juke it’s very zippy but I now own the C-HR. The Toyota four cylinders aren’t nearly as quick off the line, but they’re going to last you way longer than any turbo will. The C-HR has that fun, funky aesthetic that unfortunately the Corolla Cross lacks. But if you have a family the cross would probably be a better choice. The rear doors on the CHR are not very kid friendly.
My loss for the termination of the Avalon is comforted with the knowledge that this is coming to market. I know they are not the same in any way. I also know that many will be bent on buying the Chinese Buick rival no matter what the case.
