2022 Toyota Highlander XSE VS Highlander XLE! Which is better!? 

XSE's Front look looks way better than any other Hilander Models...

Whatever your choice is, you can't lose. Toyota vehicles are the best in my opinion.

I love the XSE's exterior design , it just looks better. I wish they offered bench seating for this trim. My plan is to buy one by the fall with the black interior when the market is hopefully doing better

Would prefer the XLE, with the same wheels but make them 20" and then incorporate classy dual exhaust outlets into the rear lower valance.

I drove both,am getting my XLE with captain seats and black on black when I get back in town. I enjoyed both,but I like the lux of the XLE and smooth ride. I was undecided about the 2nd row until I sat in the chairs and my daughters did too. My daughter LOVES the 3rd row. I love it that it reclines and has ventilation. I did sit,it wasn't bad and I am 5'6 and leggy!!!

The 18inch wheels on the XLE make for a smoother ride. 👍🏻

I was torn between these two. I like the exterior styling, but the red accents just weren't my thing so I went with the XLE.

Bought 2023 XSE few month ago and I love it ..

Toyota has undermined the Highlander's value with using a small screen on an SUV when the plastic center housing on the dash is so prominent. The cost is already above $40k so it really gimps the models and looks cheap for that console design. Also, I think Toyota should not count the 3rd row as 3 seats when it is so cramped. These are 6 and 7 seaters, not 7 and 8.

Panoramic roof on the xse would be dope.

LOVE the 2022 XSE. Being a sport model I feel like I'm driving a sports car. It handles corners very well and the safety features are a big plus. I love the sleek look under the grill and 20' wheels. The black interior is very nice! Wish this model came with heated steering wheel. Fun to drive.

Very informative, but I decided the Platinum was the best fit for me with the Opulent Amber exterior and the Glazed Caramel interior.

Xse is the clear winner, better looking all around. XLE might as well be the entry level highlander.

I think the one major drawback on the XSE is it’s not truly sport yeah the suspension is tuned a little bit bigger wheel and the good appearance package. That’s why the XSE doesn’t sell well people are not justifying the price difference between the XLE and XSE. My opinion is Toyota should kinda ditch the whole XSE basically appearance package and actually make this into a sport suv that would definitely fill in a niche into a lot of people problems. They have family’s but want a sporty car but obviously that’s not responsible that’s what ford did with the Explorer ST v6 twin turbo. I would love for a twin turbo option on the XSE and maybe a actual awd system instead of the rear wheel kicking on only when the front wheels slip.

The cup holders between the 2nd row seats are really hindrance for children sitting on the 3rd row or one who wants to switch over to 2nd row and vice versa, also the cup holders prevent the 3rd row passengers from extending legs.

My Aunt has Toyota Highlander XLE, but hers is a 7 seater.

Love the XSE inside and out … XLE is nice too but XSE is the way to go in my opinion!

My 2022 XLE has 7 seats! My really only complaint is that the black dashboard shows all the dust on its surface.

If you are in the market for either of these cars and you like the xse, you might want to consider a 2021 Highlander Hybrid Limited which is roughly the same price as the 2022 xse and you can probably find a brand new 2021 limited model. I don't know any significant features that were changed between the two years except for the steering wheel heater

We purchased a Limited, because this model has the birds eye view option. As the XLE does not.

Don't you have an XSE AWD with Dynamic Torque Vectoring model in Canada? If so you forgot to mention. This is an importation spec available only in XSE and higher caategories.

I love my 2021 xse toyota highlander, but the down fault is that toyota need to upgrade more of the horsepower and the stability of the vicheal, if they are not upgrading this highlander

I hate how all the sport or X line or R lines have red or flashy color interiors 🤢 I do like that this one at least has a black option!

Damn !!! I’m so disappointed with the XLE!!!! Sooo disappointed! I waited for the ‘22 model to get this heated steering wheel that YOU HAVE BEEN talking about in every 2022 Highlander review. I ordered one 3 months ago. It finally came in today. The first thing I asked the dealer was to show me how to turn the steering wheel heater on. It’s damn cold in Michigan you know… Surprise - NO HEATED STEERING WHEEL ! Zero. Nada. Only in Limited and Platinum. Not in the U S of A!!!! That must be just in Canada! So Americans - do not watch this channel. I was sooooo dissapointed I wanted to shut the door and walk away. Had I only known… Had I known… I need that heater way more than my brother who lives in Windsor, Ontario. Over there it’s Africa compared to Michigan. But he gets it and I don’t. Crap… While we are at Highlander Hybrid - the engine is so damn loud. Revs up all the time. One annoying little sucker. A $50k vehicle louder than a cheap small car… something is wrong with that picture. I’m picking up my Highlander tomorrow. Still having doubts though. Still having doubts.

It's no surprise V6 XSE's are the only Highlanders available on car dealers lots. Toyota needs to ramp-up hybrid production and expand it to the XSE line...and add a second row bench option....and bring back the electronic rear-view mirror! Do that and Toyota can take my money! 🙂

Hey Marcelo- Great comparison review. I actually prefer the XLE with the beige/brown interior. I think it looks really classy! Also really like the alloys better. And what's with all the new 2022 vehicles in the showroom!! I thought everything was pre sold?? Lol! What is the year of the green Corolla that we got a glimpse of?? What a gem!!!!!

IMO, the exterior styling of the Highlander is very bland and awful, in terms of the front grille and tail lights. I'm not trying to put it down, just to give my input. The modern RAV4 looks so much better, and the new Tacoma and Sequoia look awesome. Basically, the Highlander has no testosterone. It's like a stunted minivan. It probably gets bullied by the other cars in the parking lot. So I was pleased to see the XSE, which at least has better looking front end. I guess the idea in Japan is to sell Highlander to women. But women in the west like testosterone. A lot of women buy Jeeps because they look more muscular. Even my elderly mother wanted a masculine looking car. The interior of the Highlander, which looks like a Jeep interior, looks TONS better than the interior of the RAV4.

Why aren't we talking about the SE in Nighshade. The best looking and sexy models.

I am not usually into the highlander, because it was based more for families. But the new one has an incredible drive and awd system. I think it is much more refined than last generation. Drove it in 10cm of snow with ease. The 3 drive modes are very cool, and very adaptive to each terrain.

I've been waiting on a Platinum XLE but today I have asked them to change the order to an XSE - all black. What was I thinking! Thanks Mate!!

In your video you say that a heated steering wheel is standard on the XSE and XLE. Are you absolutely sure about that? I have a 2022 XSE that I ordered from the factory and heated steering wheel was not even an option on the build site. I'm just trying to find out if they owe me one. Took possession around 12.10.2.

I own a 2019 XLE and I love it. Just wished they put the button back on the lift gate instead of opening the whole back door. I like to just push the button to open my glass window. The new Highlanders do no have this function. Please bring that back in 2023.

I use Costco Auto Program got my 2022 XLE AWD with few upgraded option for $45,000 USD. some option were discounted by -20%. XLE does comes with navigation , if you upgrade to premium audio sound ( I believe it was about $1100 more, but was definitely worth it ), I got with silver metallic with black interior and love it.
