Yes, but now it has a richer tone to it. The side skirts were a strange design choice, especially when the VA chassis had them painted, But people will come around, or they will get them painted to match.😎
@@thurmhammer i'm with you, i bought this car a couple days ago just because of how much this whole car actually looks good to me. i love what they did with the shape and panels, but maybe i'm biased because i still think the va is the worst looking wrx lol.
Me and my buddy just got our 22 premiums M6’s. The rear cladding I am liking more simply because it provides good defense against parking the car and someone coming too close or what not. Some folks have painted the rear choosing just the outlines with body color and it completely changes the look.
Nicely done Guys...Watching the aftermarket jump on these cars is my new obsession!! My take-away's from my local dealer test drive is that I really like it, tight, composed and definitely more mature. Biggest take-away though....A feeling of sadness that we may not see an STi version.
@@thurmhammer welcome!! GT is priced like an STi and that’s where the similarities end…LOL. GT is same power output as WRX, CVT transmission only and adaptive suspension with Recaro seats.
So glad you are all stepping up and making good content. Keep it up.!!! Don't forget Parts that work for both Outback Wilderness and the WRX since a lot of the parts are the same on this motor.
I personally think the unpainted flare ties in with the fenders and bumper nicely. And I am one of the few that likes the bumper. It reminds me of hot wheels cars that I used to play with that had plastics but were so fast on the orange track lol. Pretty much a hot wheels blown up to real life proportions in my opinion.
Watched a few of your videos before and after getting my 22, then noticed the Subiesota hat and realized your local, thanks for great content, excited to add some Grimmspeed to my WRX.
Great job on the sound of the video guys, the OEM exhaust sounds exactly like it does in person- which is unusual for video online. Great job. Subbed and all that. :)
I ordered a 23 model, god only knows when I will get it. I think the Base model white colour is the best option here, the contrast is not bad. Although I think I will end up getting paint matched fenders.
Glad to see mods coming. So far I haven't seen an exhaust setup I like on the new wrx yet unfortunately but grimmspeed has done the best job trying so far.
@@GrimmSpeed I guess we have to wait on Cobb as well or will your new ones not need a tune? And if so do you know when cobb will be releasing the software for the 2022?
Glad to see yall are on it with the R&D but tbh didnt notice much difference on video from stock to modded. Will adding the new pipe make a bigger difference?
@@DylanVBWRX Yeh Im doing an oem + gentleman’s type build. Dont want the loud obnoxious coffee can style jdm exhaust but want a bit more throaty & deeper sound
Bout to sell my pristine 04 Highlander and get one of my childhood dream cars, the premium 22 wrx. I wanted the rally OG blue but it's like the WORST color with the flares and side skirts, will probably paint match it or just live with it until something aftermarket comes out. Can't wait for your exhaust to drop I'll be installing that as soon as warranty expires!
Awesome! The 22 WRX is a pretty solid choice. We are happy with ours. As more and more companies start releasing parts the 22 is gonna become a more popular tuning platform. Catback is currently in development!
Sounds much nicer. I'm still not feeling the overall look. I wish I could get my 2014 hatch with all the newer upgrades to the interior, platform and drivetrain. GR hatches are still my favorite design, but it's starting to feel old
Have you guys finished R&D for a release date???? Been patiently waiting. May consider buying the VA gentleman's catback and get it modified by a shop near me. This is the perfect balance between a good daily and performance for my taste. I'm sure with an upgraded catted j pipe it would definitely add some beefiness to it.
I think it's good they left the side skirts unpainted. Those parts of the car eventually get destroyed getting in and out of the car. The rear though? Yikers. Aftermarket please help.
Something about the rear end just makes me think Honda. I like the rear trunk to fender transition you pointed out, but I think the lights look better on the brz. The wrx needed boxier tails
Great video guys, would love to know if the Grim Speed bypass valve will fit in this new model and or what are the plans to make a new bypass valve. Thanks!
@@GrimmSpeed thanks for responding to my comment! I love the sound on the 2015-21 wrx and I would love to have this same sound on my new 2022 when it arrives. Hoping that it fits!
One of the only positives I see w/the VB (the GT trim more respectively) is the opening of the the door for the (CVT only) Levorg to come to the States/CAN. Hopefully the GT trim will help save Subaru Federalizarion Costs ($45M) to bring the Levorg body (with WRX GT guts) to the North American market. The Levorg has my eye; not the VB WRX.
I just ordered one in sapphire blue. I’m def gonna get an exhaust at some point. I want that boxer rumble, or as close to it without having to get a tune. Not sure if I should go catback or axleback.
How would a VA axle back fit the VB? Would any modifications be needed? Looking for an axle back option and hoping that it mates you with the VA y pipe. Any insight would be a big help, thanks!
In this video we used one of our VA catback systems and modified it to fit the new VB chassis. It’s louder with a more refined tone. Our engineer are working to create an exhaust specially for the new chassis. This was just a test to see what kind of sound the car is capable of making.
Really depends on what the goal is. 22's are nice but still a lot of work to get them to where you would want it. GT's only come in auto, if that's your thing. 21 STI... better start looking now, because they are going to jump in price over time and probably be pretty hard to get your hands on one.
@@GrimmSpeed Definitely where my head is at. What is the absolute best years sti to get for aftermarket options? Basically, if you could only have 1 subi for the rest of your life which would it be?
Dear Subaru, please redo that rear bumper. Sincerely, the entire Subaru Community... Gentleman's exhaust sounds great on the VB! Can't wait for final production!
how much is subaru paying you to say this car is kinda good looking? I am losing alot of faith your your ability to make a product that I will ever be interested in buying if this is your actual opinion.
Haha, we actually paid them. Twice! In all seriousness It's not for everyone. But it does have some redeeming aspects to it. Its pretty great to drive. The interior quality compared to the VA is better. It's a pretty solid platform to start with. Give it time. Once the aftermarket has time to develop and innovate i think people will start to come around to the idea of actually liking these. On the other hand, with EPA cracking down on performance modification, we may see a decline in companies willing to spend the time on R&D for new performance products. It's a risky game and the industry is still struggling to figure out the next steps to take to continue pushing in a direction we all love and have a passion for. In the end, for now, we have to do what we can with the resources we have. We for one are welcoming this new platform. Whether we like it or not, these are the future and we have to do what we can to push forward. People hated the VA when they first came out. Now it's a beloved platform.
They sound almost the same. With aftermarket exhaust sounds a little better but not worth $800-$1000. Exhaust is mostly just noise. Waste of $. Main power gain is from headers, jpipe, intercooler and air intake
A lot of people enjoy the change of tone, giving the car a more sporty feel. Yes, opening up the flow path is going to be the best way to make more power.
Sounds STILL, too tame. It needs MORE, breathing is reserved and Non-Aggressive. It sounds restricted. Tomei, Invidia and a few others captivate a sound that brings ATTENTION AND RESPECT. WHEN you hear it, even from a distance, you look for it and wait to see what it is.😃. That's the sound/power that's MOST appealing! Side note, I thought those fender and side skirts were ugly until you showed that rear end!🤢. I wouldn't buy that car just because of THAT!!! It's disgusting looking!!!🤮 Yeah, Subi or Somebody needs an aftermarket bumper that screams Aggression and speed, not Pontiac Rendezvous!!!😂
The hype over the Accessport was a bit overblown, tuning certainly isn't dead, although there will be hurdles that we didn't have to jump through before. This isn't the end of making good power on these cars!
