Being an R1 guy, the R1 Forum guys would bust anyone's balls about drag racing them, lowering was blasphemy for rhem to understand. I only used a front strap if at all. I enjoyed the challenge of running them stock height and gearing personally, but also did alot of curves and normal road riding and didn't want to compromise the handling by lowering. I fully understand what you're saying, since I'm mainly a dragracer at heart with thousands of passes on each of the 3 R1's I've owned. Would love to see the power gains on the dyno from the unsprung weight lost. Has to be over 5-7 hp with that much weight lost on the rear wheel assy. Love the M looks great Chris !

Amazing video brother!!! If you do the intake flapper mod please let us know if you notice anything on dyno , I heard it does help the bike a lot . The McAms Yamaha BSB mechanic said in RU-vid video they always remove the flapper

Yesterday I replaced my starter on my 2009 Yamaha R1 and now I’m confused where the little hoses under the gas tank go. The bike has been sitting for about 5 months so do you think the gas has gone bad? What are some signs of bad gas?

I am curious to know how fast you can make the R1. Also, does it make a difference if you lower the front with straps vs moving the forks? Will you extend the swingarm or keep the wheel base stock? Looking really good lowered

i know EXACTLY, how it would "feel". I had a set on mine. It will "feel like" a ZX-10 R, when you tip it in for turns. . . like SUPER quick. It will accelerate quicker, and coast like the brakes are being applied . . . Just a light application is all you'll need to stop the bike. Your brake pads will last for a LONG, LONG time. CF wheels WILL put a dent in your bank account, but you will NEVER regret the withdrawal 🥰. Save up and gittum.

Awesome bike !!! I actually kinda did the same thing year's ago bought a brand new 88 fzr 1000 and stretched and lowered it !! I caught a lot of crap for it but it made it a great street racing bike !!! O I was to scared to get rid of the back break 😁😁 but I did have magnesium rims and only one front rotor!! Screw the haters!!!

Man, I have to be honest........I love the Yamaha itself, what I don't love is your choice of muffler for this project. Doesn't look mean enough or something. To me it's just too big. I wish someone made a sidewinder pipe for this bike. Then we would have a badass looking exhaust!

Ah, all that "rotating weight" is un-sprung weight also....but I know what you mean...plus anything you can do to reduce friction will have more of an effect than most modifications, i.e. the ceramic bearings, I'd install them every where possible. Keep up the good work...can't wait to see that R1M eating Kaws for breakfast down in ole Me-he-co!

Are you from that Dirty South? Memphis Tennessee? David Collins here front that Dirty South. I got a pair of carbon fiber wheels 🛞 I’m putting on 1980 kz650 Kawasaki and I need some advice and suggestions. I had to convert forks and swingarm. I took swingarm off 2011 zx1100. No one wanted to bore the bearings for the new ones so I said fuck it I’ll do it myself with a hand drill and it worked I think.

I hate to be that guy but the rotating mass and the unsprung weight of a bike or car are mostly the same thing. Sprung weight is everything above the shocks that is supposed to not move up when u go over a bump. Unsprung weight is the stuff that does go up. i.e. the wheels and tires.

For roll racing you do not want the drag max. It is to flat and has to much rolling resistance at high speeds. The Q4 is all you need.
