slight correction, the water pump is not electrically driven, at least not the primary. The primary water pump is on the driver side, driven off of the exhaust camshaft with a toothed belt. There is a secondary electric pump at the front of the engine under the charge air cooler, the purpose of that pump is to circulate the coolant through the charge air cooler, as well as turbo. It's a separate loop, albeit connected to the primary. The electric pump allows for coolant flow through the turbo after shutdown as well as tigher control over intake air temp.

@juice7661 I've gotten used to it. Not that bad. Besides, it's a commuter car, not a track day machine.
@juice7661
@juice7661 2 месяца назад
@@Cimone90 Yeah sure, I mean its not an issue if you're just shifting like a normal person through traffic, but its REALLY annoying if you're using the entire rev range, like say you take it to 6k then you have to kind of wait a minute or else you know its a wonky shift into the next gear.
@Cimone90
@Cimone90 2 месяца назад
@juice7661 weirdly, I actually find it less noticeable if I'm driving it hard. The revs fall off faster if you're shifting out at the top of the rev range. My 2017 gti was the same. That one I put a lightweight flywheel in because I wanted to properly fix the rev hang, but it felt very similar to this jetta before I did that

We tend to concur. Some of the first Buddack Cycle gas turbo engines coming off the TDI scandal in 2016-2018 were pretty un-enjoyable but the latest 1.5 has ironed out most of the dullness and lack of willingness - actually feels kind of fun.

I am moving from TN to MN in a month and I have a 2023 Jetta. Does it have an engine block heater already installed? If so, where do you plug it in? If not, can you help me determine what kind of engine block heater to purchase and where to install it?
@brettpanzer
@brettpanzer 6 месяцев назад
To be honest I wouldn’t worry about that - especially if you’re moving to Minneapolis-St Paul. Block heaters are actually not as common as you may think throughout the upper Midwest and I’ve personally never had nor needed one on a car. Also it’s presently 30 degrees where I live in MN, 70 miles south of Manitoba. Our winters are becoming more and more mild.

Very informative. Thank you, sir. I am planning on getting a new Jetta, and if like to ask you a question if you don't mind: how's this engine's quality in relation to the older 1.4L turbo in the 2019 re-design? Mainly, I'm wondering if the new engine handles carbon build up from the inclusion of a turbo charger better. From what I've read, it appears that a series of short drives that don't allow the engine oil to get to its needed 220-60 degree Fahrenheit temperature can exacerbate this problem? My job is a short 10 minutes away, so I'd fall into that regular trip category that would allow the after 15 minutes of driving needed to get the oil up to optimal operating temperature. Thanks again!

@calebniederhofer6529
@calebniederhofer6529 10 месяцев назад
Don’t overthink stuff lol. Carbon build is not a problem and you will just need to service it about every 75k. It is not a big deal at all really. More importantly do oil changes at 5-6k max and change fluids around 75k.
@unassailable6138
@unassailable6138 10 месяцев назад
Carbon build up on the valves is very very slow and non-threatning to the engine. It starts to show up after 100K miles and can be remedied without opening the engine.
