Finally someone I can trust doing a review. No offence to other youtubers, but when they review a bike I KNOW has problems as "all peaches and roses" I tend to lose faith in them. Morgan, you on the other had have consistently called balls for balls, and strikes for strikes. I respect that, and I trust that. Even covered some of your own failings at times........ Rock on!

First off, the reason I watch this channel is due to the honesty you get from this guy...you will not find this kind of honesty on any other dirt bike channel, trust me. Second, great bike, awesome looking and it is tough as nails. I ride with guys that have hundreds of hours on the bikes and no issues other than normal replacement things and we ride extremely hard enduro. Ride over 40 mph when we do hit the transfer roads and the bikes do have lots of vibration, etc. Me personally, I can't get over the twitch, and vibration... and the brakes on my KTM's are smooth as butter, I love the Brembo's and I also love the butter smooth counterbalance. Great review Morgan, I would love to see a long term review!

The older Beta engine configuration (72x72) had that excitement you are talking about. But I do agree, their new oversquare engine is so linear and almost makes its own traction out of corners. They kept the square engine in the current Beta 300 RX track bikes though.

The Jetting is for 5400 and up, 155 Main, stock pilot, and an old JD red needle in the 3rd position. Higher up would drop the needle to the 2nd, and the main would be a 152. I went 2 sizes bigger on the rear spring (used Yamaha Titanium) to balance it out. I will get some better tires and Moose Balls ( heavier rotating) in it that will probably settle the fidgety feeling down for Morgan.

One of the my riding buds has a 250 RR with an RK Tek head, he swears it feels better than any 300 he's ever ridden... Not only that, but the poor Beta has taken more than its fair share of thrashings and has held up.

When a KTM rider reviews a Beta it’s obvious. Not a bad thing. Same for me when I ride KTM. I respect them but I’d never buy one. Both bikes have traits you can feel. Nice review. Very unbiased for a KTM guy. 👍

What do you mean by "the fueling"? Reason I ask, my TPI gets outrageously good fuel mileage. Do you mean throttle response?
@emw5008
@emw5008 Год назад
@@onthethrottle7104 Yea, response. Especially initially off idle, just super crisp. My TPI gets "garble" at lower rpms before it clears up where the Beta is clean through the rev range. TPI is definitely better on fuel usage though.

Beta’s are a weapon straight up. Another ride and you won’t notice the small nuances, and the trade offs will make you faster and more technical of a rider in the end.
@helavatar
@helavatar Год назад
Stock pegs on Beta are not sharp and the S3 aluminum pegs need the cleats adjusted. I have ridden with both and while the S3 aluminum ones are light they do not stand up to the abuse. At some point the cleats didn't want to come out since the holes were oval. Last year installed Carapaks and I am really satisfied with these.

Try tightening up the stearing neck a bit. To were it just barely falls to the stops. Every bike I've ever owned comes with the neck to loose in my opinion.. especially bikes that want to turn in. Run a little more sag. Or slide the forks down in the clamps as far as possible.. try to change the geometry or rake essentially.. or cough up a dampner lol.

Great review, I had a 17 model, Great motor and gearbox, but the Nissan brakes are grabby, in a bad way, like an out-of-control way, And the front end was always washing out on tight turns. Plastics weren't great, and getting parts (AU) was terrible
@johnmerritt6670

I had a 2019 300 Race, I bought it used and the brakes were not good. Especially the rear brake, too much slack in the clevis, which I fixed. I could never get the same feel as Brembo or the Japanese Nissin. I say Japanese Nissin because when I rebuilt the Beta rear Master cylinder the internals were weird, not the same on my previous Yamaha's. Anyway I tried everything, rotors, pads, flush fluid, rebuilt the master and the caliper. Best starting 2T hands down and that 300 motor is unbelievable. I'm screw up alot so I need those Brembo brakes. Back on a KTM.

My '22 300rr re sounds exactly the same. I have the fast way back and lower pegs with a tall and soft seat. Also to run my Scotts damper I needed to run risers to get an undermount to work. The bike ran great stock but was a bit of a gas hog @ 13.5 mpg. I switched over to the Suzuki NECJ needle that I ran successfully on my '17 300rr re. It gets me a better 17.5 mpg. While I ran the "red" go fast power valve spring on my '17, the '22 is just great with stock power valve springs and the 14/48 gearing. The motor rocks. I'm still running the stock suspension but have added a bladder kit and a different compression adjuster on the Sachs shock. Never really felt any shock fade but more of a body blow thru the rear shock every now again. Thanks for the Beta content.

Your tire of choice with mousses will make a huge difference. As for the pegs, the studs will pull out with vice grips. Tap the existing holes for 5mm x 0.8mm x 12mm set screws, problem solved. It will take several rides to get accustomed to a different chassis, you've ridden the KTM type all your life. A change will feel weird at first but have no doubt, you will adapt, and like it. I clean up the bars and lose the tank cap too. It aint a cheap setup, but the Precision Engineering stabilizer combined with Twisted Engineering carbon bars is a game changer (Lance, figure out how to adapt the Mako 360 to be compatible with the Precision Engineering stabilizer). As for the engine vibes, you will only notice it when going back and forth between the Beta and KTM. You will completely forget about it and not notice at all. For me its a non issue. I'm interested to know if the jetting is as recommended in the manual. The recommend jetting is spot on at sea level.

Don't forget I see he might have removed the gas cap with the troublesome green check and put that huge aluminum ugly thing on. Not really fair to compare the stock suspension to your $$$$ suspension. It sounds like the Beta could use a heavier fork spring and some more flow in mid valve my Sachs needed that to feel less harsh in the small stuff.

@utahdesertrider1806 Год назад
What? If you want the RR suspension you can buy an RR.. how can you go wrong with KYB? They already do sell a ton of bikes. Your comment really does not make sense. If you can’t get the KYB tuned four your riding (they are awesome in stock trim) then stop riding a dirt bike. They literally cannot put better stock suspension on a bike than KYB. And if you are a regular rider like me, (see my vids) the bike has way more potential than I do. I’m a B hair scramble rider in my past life. I’m 54. Now just trying to keep riding without racking up injuries cuz I’ve had a ton

You have me thinking that the 6500 kit is the best fork upgrade for the money or find someone desperately needing money with cone valves. The cone valve forks are the best for motocross. And an ohlins shock since we are entering 4-5 k !

@scottphillips445 Год назад
How good was your 2018 suspension out of the box? I Rhode a 17 XC250 and out of the box was unusually good. Air forks are a 2 stroke play bike feature although when it comes to track time the 150SX will be wearing the MX tech 4CS forks with 4.5 springs and the pro motion revalved shock. I like organized practice days because you usually get at least 1 extra moto or 2 sometimes open at end of the day to test and tune
