Try the stock needles. The suzuki needles are very mellow and nuture the top end of the bike.

I added a Smartcarb to my Beta 300 rr Racing and swapped to a FMF Gnarly pipe and Powercore exhaust , it woke the beast up. for sure.

I found with my beta it likes having more weight on the front end. Sag around 100 to 95 and raising the forks to the second line on the forks. That seemed to fix the “ nerves front end” that you speak of. Just a suggestion.

Went from a 250 xcw to a 22 Beta 300 race. I love the Beta. The beta motor is awesome for North Idaho single track. No complaints and might even upgrade to another one when the time comes.

Yeah. I can’t afford two bikes at the same time. But I do remember the stock rides well and the KTM would have been my choice then too.

Would love to see you get ahold of a Rieju MC200/300 Ranger for review. I'm a 55 yr old rider and really interested in the KDX like concept of the Ranger. Its a real enduro but with little lower seat height and suspension the avg guy can service

Install the xcw top triple clamp on the 23 xc from slavens. I just did that on my 23 xc and really help with the riding and comfort with pushing the handle bars forward.

Great review, Is the any difference in ground clearance between the 2 bikes ? The XCW would be a better comparison with the Beta, its designed more for the hard stuff. Look forward to more review, luv ur work man 👌

Great video, wonderful to see dad and son riding together. Both bikes are beautiful, do you think theirs any truth to the KTMs having all kinds of problems with the idle,fouling plugs,stalling losing fuel because of the sump design and of course the piston hitting the case, what’s your thoughts are the bikes worth the headache for 13000? I’m certainly there’s a lot of riders out there that value your opinion I know I do. Thanks again for all you do. 🙏

There is some truth to those claims but mine and lots of others have been flawless. Over 180 hrs with no issues except some after market switches that failed.

In the vid you mentioned the beta may be better compared to the xcw. Best dual sport bikes rewrote my ecu. It lugs prolly 10-15% better and from part to wot it is just angry. Don't have a map button (boo ktm). Also bought their fuel filter. Run the oil injection still with the enviro oil, but I put 100:1 klotz r-50 in the tank too. It's pretty happy. Anyways...my02

It would be cool if you do like a 15 mile loop on each bike and time it. I wonder which one you would be faster on. I used to have a 200rr and timed it against me on my crf250rx. I was about 10-15 seconds faster on the Honda but had more fun on the 200!

One has the T-35 Tusk. The other has the talon. T-35 is a better all around long lasting tire. The talon is grippy but wears fast

Beta has its niche of simplicity and ridability. Which it delivers. Some stiĺl want a simple 2 stroke with a carb that they can work on at a good price point. I got a Beta 250 after 10 KTMs. The new leftover was $7500. A 250xcw would be at least 3 to 5 k more. I feel it's a great bike for my needs. Because a 12k bike just isn't in the price point for everyone! Loyal or not. Fair review. I agree your Son looks faster on the Beta and I'm sure he would be faster yet on a yz 125! I miss riding with my boys!

Good vid. Most impressive thing is your boys haircut. The KYB fork is over the top for a sharp steering italian frame Beta say most people should get the non-racing. We have top racers down here who also prefer the non-racing. The dal soggio is going to flog it offroad. Get the non racing beta and put the dal soggios in that and see how they compare. Not sure if it's just me but i thought the boy was pulling away from you whenever he got on the beta? (could be wrong, both bikes look so similar). Also most countries you can register the exc but not the XC - so the XCW comparo may be more helpful for alot of people. We had too many reliability./longevity issues with beta in Oz, people went back to KTM or Sherco. Alot of potential though. Cheers.

Two different bikes for different stuff. If you try the beta Rx your probably going like More for fast stuff however on knarly stuff The rr probably going be better. I do almost like you I have a bike for fast stuff and a bike for nasty terrains 😂😂😂 the difference between us is I have old yz450f 2005 and the Beta 300rr 2020.😂 . Thanks for your vídeos.

You have my respect Morgan, you tell it like you see it and don’t just tell people what you think they want to hear. It would have been easy to say that while both bikes are different, you really didn’t have a preference for one or the other. That way no one gets defensive. But that wouldn’t have been true, and your ethical standards wouldn’t allow it. Adds credibility to your opinions.

Cool to see the comparison, I’ve been very happy with my ‘21 race edition and soon replacing it likely with another race editon. No nearby KTM dealer but there is a Husky dealer.. perhaps I should try a TE before I pull the trigger. Last KTM I tried was a TPI and I hated it. It’s surprising to me how many guys in the comments are die hard for a brand though, acting as if they’ll get paid for 💩 on the other brands 🤷‍♂️

I made some unorthodox adjustments to my 24 Beta 300 this past weekend. Woke the bike up and made it more fun to ride for sure… with that being said, I will most likely be back on a ktm XC very soon. 🤙

Which main jet do you run in the beta? I ask because when i switched from the oem to the suzuki needle, i had to lean it, even if im at sea level. It felt like i always had to clutch it to have some power. Since i leaned it, it’s far better.

Hey Morgan Is there anyway to make my TE300 cockpit more like the Beta. I chose the Austrian smooth ride but it kinda sucks being farther back. I have Mx tech front shocks for my beta 390 with the more forward cockpit. It’s brilliant. Yut I got sucked into the dark side Thanks.

There is. I’m not 100% sure what parts you’d need but a triple clamp with more mounting holes would be a good start. I like the X Trig ones but I’m not sure they have multiple holes. Sorry, I’m not up on that yet but that’s the direction you’d need to go.

The KTM XC and XCW TBI bikes absolutely kill the Beta Race Edition bikes. I've ridden both bikes and sorry but the Beta is twitchy, vibrates and the resale value is not good and it takes a long time to sell Beta's, (three times the amount of time of a KTM). Love all bikes and it is what it is, KTM is the superior bike, period. Your kid shreds!

So a stock or lightly modded KTM may not have been so great against the Beta... KTM was heavily modded engine and suspension ...not even close to stock.. Beta lightly modded suspension only...

Though both of you said the KTM was a faster bike, ... it SEEMED like ... when your son was on the Beta he'd walk away from you more when you were on the KTM, vs the other way. (?) Maybe just my perspective.

if you like riding faster desert stuff then maybe you got the wrong beta maybe a 300rx would have been a better comparison against the xc300the hole test dost seam very fair and a bit pointless and as for the twitchiness in the front end of the beta that just sounds like you need to spend more time on bike set up or go spend 5 grand on the beta then compare it to your xc

I have more stuff coming for the beta and I said that it wasn’t apples to apples. But thanks for the redundant comment. The reason I didn’t want an RX is I didn’t want a 19” wheel and I think that beta would say the RR race is supposed to be close to the XC. The normal RR is more like the XC-W stock. The race has stiffer suspension, it’s more “racey”. But then I did set it up for harder stuff because I don’t have the money for just doing tests. I want to keep the beta and I don’t want two identical bikes. I want one for fast and one for hard. It’s going be the perfect pair I think

You dont like wrap-around hand guards? Ive dropped my bike in the.rocks and once on pavement and i was sure glad i had those wrap arounds. That said , and its never happened but i can see the nightmare of hitting a tree with your bars at high speed. Knock on wood.

I can see what you’re saying but riding it, it feels glued to the ground. I’m not sure why that is because I see the camera footage. Also the faster that bike goes the more settled it is. I have changed the valving to be for harescrambles and desert racing.

I’d like to ride one. But I didn’t really buy it to pit it against the KTM. I bought it to build a hard enduro bike and leave my KTM a “fast” race bike. People just want to see this comparison so I did it.

@@highlandcycles I got the 300rx over the rr cause i can’t afford multiple bikes so it seemed like a better “all around” machine for riding Idaho where I live (more like an xc than an xcw).It’s been a blast, the rx motor is pretty dang impressive, I did have to get my suspension valved for off-road though, she was a little harsh for the single track haha. It is definitely one of the few bikes where you can feel a huge difference between the soft and aggressive maps on it.

I actually traded my TBI ktm in on the rx and have absolutely zero regrets. I forgot how much I actually love the carb hot over the fuel injected two stroke feel…. And the ability to change bike characteristics so cheap is a huge bonus on my wallet…. Ktm and husky make a dang fine machine…. I just was getting bored of the same ole bike every year so I decided to change it up and I am super impressed, I think my next bike in a couple years I will try is the sherco.

Yes, i got the same problem… i found it’s because the suzuki needle family are VERY rich from +- 50% throttle until wot. I had to clutch it and keep it wot. Lean this fucker and you will wake it. Which needle you finished with?
