I feel it’s lost it presents and after looking at a few reviews on the 1300 imo the engine sounds noisier than the 1250. Plus I don’t think it’s worth the money BMW is asking! But hey that’s just my opinion 😁

Fantastic review on the new 1300 ~ test ride is booked at Falmouth

My wife and I tour a lot, 24k in two years on my GSA. I took a test ride and have some reservations. The pillion seat is about 3 inches narrower than the standard GS. The engine and handling is great but it’s definitely a sportier suspension set up, like riding the gsa in dynamic. I have an XR as well and the 1300 gearbox is not even in the same league in fact when I finished the test ride I could not feel a difference with my GSA. As someone else has commented…. You guys are a wee bit rose tinted with this bike. No major rear brake light…… you guys could only see the positive. When you’re indicating and braking the current indicators can be difficult to see. BMW need to get the new GSA out soon or at least let’s see some teaser photos. I love listening to your banter 👍

I took one for a test ride, fortunately I checked out the cost of insurance before taking the plunge. Four times what my R1250GS cost. I know insurances have risen recently but that is taking the p*ss.

I have always wondered were you get the rose tinted glasses from it looks like every thing that has been done is for cost cutting a dash that looks like it was designed by a 5 year old key less ignition which is great for bike theft let’s face it it’s over priced and over rated

@@benkelly2190 no I road tested one some bikes you road test and you don’t want to give them back this I was glade to give back. Sadly it’s it doesn’t redeem it’s self with it’s looks and it’s just over complicated for no good reason right down to it’s overpriced central locking panniers it’s cheap looking dash and don’t even get me started about that hideous headlight and stupid inter-grated taillight.

Your remark that people are weird concerning that front sound spoiler. If you're on a long ride at a fairly sustained speed and you have an annoying sound coming up at you, it gets on your nerves even if you have your ear plugs in or music in the background.

BMW have got this right, they need to change. If they didn’t the GS, as it stands would disappear. The market, as always is shifting. The younger audience is coming up, looking to bikes in the genre. Personally I love it. I’m 60. In three years, my triple black 1250 will be replaced by this . Nice work BMW.

I had a ride last week.ride a 1250 GS at the moment.A lot to like but i feel its an excuse to jack the price up more.The gearbox didn't feel any better than mine.I prefer the way you sit in a 1250,felt i was sitting on top of the 1300.Dont like the fact that the rear light has gone.Good finish on the engine and frame.They will sell loads im sure but its too much for me to change mine for a new one.

The size doesn't look too intimidating. I'm a new rider and have a Tiger 900 GT Pro. I can't imagine needing more power than that for my style of riding. Maybe that will cahnge in future but for now the Triumph does everything I need for riding solo.

Now ride a superb Multi V2S after three GSs, never regretted it as I got sick of the GSs height and weight, especially the 1250 GSA. To me they’ve made the right improvements and I could be tempted back but the price is very high, by the way I love the Triple Black. My favourite GS was a 2015 GS Triple Black. Glad they’ve addressed the gearbox always hated the change especially up through the box. Interesting how many improvements have been used by Ducati for a while, including the ride height function… PS. Prefer a proper tail light though.

The bike bmw fans have demanded: more p.s., lighter, more technology….and easier to clean! As a 1250 GS rider, I do prefer the more brutal looks of the 1250. As for the break lights integrated in the blinkers (made space for a radar box) and the front blinkers integrated in the hand protectors ( except for the Rally edition), we shall see how that works out both in terms of visibility(rear lights)and repair costs(front blinkers). I am sure the bike rides and handles extremely well so it comes down to taste, money and in general, if one thinks the upgrade is worth it. Not sure what I think about the electronic connection for the boxes. The bike seems to have polarised opinions. I will keep my triple black. Thank you for a great review both informative and entertaining ! Greetings,Jim

Rode one a while ago . QS definitely not a massive step forward . New gearbox has a straight cut teeth kind of whine . Why they have a bolt on sat nav still is questionable . Certainly handled better than mine but , when pushed hard . you sit on it rather than in it like my 21 1250 Gs. Electric screen is fabulous . Got back on mine from the dealer and thought nope the 1300 is not for me . Let’s see what the GSA will bring . So wanted to love this bike 😢

I have a GS on PCP so it gets changed every 3 years. My current GS is due for replacement in Q3 ‘24. However I won’t be getting a 1300 based purely on the ugly front end and the fact it looks just like a V-Strom. If I’m paying £25k (I get the Vario panniers too) then it must be a bike that puts a smile on my face when I look at it. I’ll either get a 1250 GSA or more likely a R9T Scrambler. Obviously the 1300 will be a better bike in every way than the outgoing 1250 but biking is a passion for me and the 1300 doesn’t ’do it’ for me. Sad times.
@markholroyd5365
@markholroyd5365 7 месяцев назад
Weirdly I sort of agree… I liked the bike but I also liked the 1250 however it took me this long to get one. It is a good bike (1300) but such a change from the ‘old’ GS it will take a while before people are confident that it is OK. The GSA when it comes has to be impressive. Ride safe.

@@markholroyd5365 I am keen to see what the 1300 GSA looks like. Hopefully they will do a better job of hiding the hideous radar units. I keeping reading about people not being able to get sensible insurance quotes but I’m hoping that will stop once the 1300 is on all the underwriters systems. Right now it’s not looking good from my GS perspective. End of an era.

Great review. Everyone can have their subjective views on what they like or dislike but for me there is 2 things that are undisputable.1 It has a great engine 2, Spec'd to the TE level of the old GS 1200 and 1250 (which is what current GS owners would expect) it's just too expensive.

Took a test ride on one a few weeks ago...I don't like it. No backlit switch gear, no rear independent brake light... indicators in the hand protectors (that will cost an arm and leg to replace if broken), and the look of it reminds me too much of the 750x Honda. IMO I would go for a used 1250 as there are some great prices out there now. Instead, I went for a 2020 RS1250. God knows what they will do to that when the 1300 variant comes out in a few years. FYI, you forgot about the redesigned center stand. lol.

I’m sure it is a great bike to ride but personally I prefer the looks of the old bike. I can appreciate the loss of weight etc and perhaps the criticism of the previous models size, but it had a lot more ‘road presence’ and was unmistakably a GS. Now the new model is just another adventure bike that doesn’t stand out in the same way. I really don’t like the rear lights and that big black box where the tail light should be and I dread to think what the cost will be to replace those hand guards with the integrated indicators the first time you bash one if you do take it off road. So overall I’m afraid it’s not floating my boat 😞

The GS era ends for me...I don't like it at all. It doesn't have any innovation and now it adds things that other brands already have. Even the basics were taken away. With this motorcycle BMW became officially a follower of the competition that would surpass it without a doubt. It became a street bike, so better to spend money on an S1000XR...which is much more

"They're working on the quicksifter.... It's no too bad..." Geez how long does it take...... I had a 2017 Triumph explorer and the gearbox was super smooth and so was the quick shifter. Why can't bmw build a decent gear box??? Aren't the hand guards there to protect the brake levers when the bike falls over..... duh now the indicators will get broken when you drop the bike..... that doesn't seem so smart. And no rear light or brake light..... is the visibility of the bike improved or not as a result of this change???? I don't believe what the salesman says about mud on legs...... doesn't happen on my 1250gs. I do not believe that that the small kW and torque increases would be noticeable in the 1300 - considering that 12 months ago the journalists were telling everybody how great the 1250gs's were!!! Yeah I would like it as well - particularly if some one gave it to me to ride around on so I could make content for a RU-vid channel. OK I do think the compartment above tank is good idea - but hardly original. Electric screen good - my 2007 bmw k1300gt had one so not that innovative. Quickshifter still not perfect..... Oh dear what is wrong with BMW engineers. OMG blinds spot (built into mirrors) what a stupid place to put it.... check out how Cfmoto do it.... plus drop bike and you have to replace expensive mirror and indicator hand guards.... Wtf! From what I have seen this bike has minimal improvements over the previous 1250gs and some could argue that in some areas it goes backwards. I think the 1250gs's will be very sort after because of the new 1300gs.

seems this bike is quite divisive, relevant points you put across although you mention you would probably like it if you were leant one to make youtube content! i find that quite rude! if you follow us and have watched videos we have said on a few bikes that we don't like them. We don't get sponsored or have to say anything positive but we generally liked the bike. Some will not like it of course, but as we say its our opinion and through watching different views people will make their own mind up. The mud guard does work surprisingly well at keeping muck off, if your 1250 does then thats great too! Stupid place for blind spot detection? It's in the one of the places you should be looking in order to overtake or make a move? it not about a massive banner shouting at you, its about all the information you have on a ride being put together by a rider when they make they turns etc. But that said it's like marmite i guess. some will like it and some won't like it.... try one and see
@waynev5097
@waynev5097 6 месяцев назад
I accept your criticsm of my assertion that your review may have been influenced by the dealer lending you the bike to make a review. If you say you weren't then I have to accept it. I felt that you were giving BMW a free pass on the gearbox and quick shifter. On a premium bike (well any bike for that matter) the gearbox should move from neutral to first with out a clunk and gear changes should be smooth all the time . Is that what the 1300 did? Definitely my 2023 1250 gs doesn't - it changes gear like my previous 2007 K1200gt 😢. And the quick shifter should do what it is supposed to do (like all the other bikes) - especially since buyers are paying extra for this feature. I agree the logical place for the lane assist indicator is in the mirrors - and for road bikes all good. But this is a big heavy adventure bike with a whole heap of off road electronics and design to enable you to take the bike off the bitumen road. And inevitably they fall over..... that's why they have engine crash bars and hand guards. And one of the first things to get damaged is the mirrors. But I guess they will be cheap to replace like all BMW parts. The same can be said for the indicators in the hand guards. I don't see any logic in this decision. Perhaps BMW should offer the option of deleting or reconfiguring these features for riders that are concerned about damage if the bike is dropped. Is the visibility of the bike improved as a result of the removal of the separate brake light? I am always concerned about the risk of rear end collisions in traffic - how often to you see drivers texting when you look in your rear mirrors? I would have preferred a larger brake light!!! It's a little ironic that BMW may have reduced the visibility of the bike to other road users to provide the rider with lane change assist. I have been riding and driving for 40 years and never had an accident changing lanes but have a couple of people run into the back of me. I understood you were doing a review of the bike..... I'm pretty sure that's what it says in the title. Sure there are plenty of good things to say about the bike but a review should be a critical appraisal. Have a good day - and don't think that just because I don't agree with some of your comments, or lack of critical comments, that I don't enjoy your content. I really enjoyed the content about the r1250rtp.
