i've had mine for 3 months now - the trunk not lifting on the push of a button doesn't bother me; I have figured out an easy way to grab the seatbelt (you basically use your left hand to reach the belt lower down and pull it) so that makes it easy, I ordered the sunroof - I love a sunroof - I got the sapphire black metallic so figured wouldn't really notice the carbon roof on it anyway. I'm not that into tech, I buy a sportscar more for the driving experience, not to play with tech, so most of the time i don't actually use any of the tech. A gripe I have is I don't like the "bargraph" tach and speedometer - wished they made it analog looking. but my biggest gripe with the car, me being more of a driving enthusiast who values agility, steering feel, feedback above all else, is that the car is DULL to drive - sure it's fast and holds the road well, but it's numb and dead - this is all related to the massive weight of this small car, and the lifeless steering (it really needed to be 200-300 lbs lighter). Unfortunately I could not test drive one before I bought it because where I live in canada ( a small city) they have no demo models, so you order and spec your car and I waited 6 months for delivery. I've had several previous BMW's from e30's, e36's and e90's including an M3, and they were all "driver's cars". after my BMW's I got an E class Merc because I needed a bigger car and that was a great car, surprisingly fast and solid, but not a driver's car, then I got a civic type r and that was fantastic, so then I decided to get the new M2 because I wanted another M car and lots of power. Well, sorry to say, I'm disappointed. I'm now looking to sell it after 3 month's ownership, I find I have little desire to drive it. You couldn't keep me away from my type r, but I only use the M2 now if I have to - a lot of the time it's just sitting in the garage. I also have a s1000rr, so for my driving thrills I take out the motorbike.
I had a 22 G42 for exactly 1 year, and sold it!She wasn’t a drivers car to me, yeah fast but just not engaging enough! I have a built 16 Subaru STi that’s a blast to drive,Now that’s a drivers car .I have a deposit on a new M2 but I haven’t been able to drive one! If it drives numb like the M240i, I might have second thoughts on buying it ! Thanks!
BMW is messing with us, it is like they are laughing at us taking the buttons away, putting an extremely cheap screen instead of a high level instrument binnacle.
"Do you like BMW's ?"... Yeah "Then go buy a bush of BMW's" (Mike Tyson in a interview) always remember this, Mike is so cool. Congrats for this magnificent G87 M2 ! Stunning.
Brakes are basically track ready from the track reviews I’ve seen. Noise and dust is the nature of pads that can handle track use. Do some track events so you’ll enjoy them :)
Of course, an automatic tailgate is great, a belt enricher, more cameras, assistance systems and maybe springs with which you can drive over pensioners who have fallen over without noticing anything and put it on hard if necessary...., but you have the S58 with a small wheelbase and wide wheels, it is and will be the best car in this size for a long time! Did you know that your engine is used identically in the GT3 and GT4 racing cars? You've got something very special there buddy! Greetings from Hamburg Germany
Thank you for talking about the cons/gripes. A lot of people on youtube just make it seem like their new car is the greatest thing since sliced bread when the truth is no car is absolutely perfect. It's crazy bmw cut some corners you mentioned because they are already making more money from the sales of the G87 since it's made in mexico versus in austria or europe having to get shipped to the U.S.and costing more overall to assemble across the Atlantic. Nonetheless, you have a beast of a car there man. Enjoy
@GrindSultan The M2 comes in 96th and the Supra at 87th place in Car & Driver's best to worst times at Virginia International Raceway for the annually held "Lightning Lap". The same year Supra has a time of 2:55.6 vs the M2 with a time of 2:56.9. Sorry, but the M2 is too heavy and too numb on the track.
Hey i have the same car and i was in the dealership because of the Same Problem with the breaks. So there was the racedriver from bmw and he told me to drive 5 miles with like 150 kmh and break down hard to 100 and so on . Repaet that every 1 min and the quikking stop from now on. 👌👌👌👌
I have a G20 (2020 M340i xDrive) and am itching for a G87!!!..... my only issue is that I am unsure about continuing with my business or not, so don't want to get a loan for a G87 at the moment, but if money were no issue..... I'd get a G80!!!! (who am I kidding) LOL.... great video man :) Cheers Don, Perth W.Australia (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)
Do you regret getting the Auto over the Manual? Normally, I am a Manual guy..... but damn, the Auto in my M340i gives me a lot of interaction already, plus the Auto makes the car so much faster!!! Cheers Don, Perth W.Australia (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)
No regrets at all.. where I live, the manual would be a headache 🤯 But I do understand the value would have been a better choice for the future.. but I plan on keeping this car and not selling..💪🏾😬
Thanks ! Appreciate that! I think it depends on your style.. Me personally , all my kids are grown and I no longer need the space.. I love the coup and the nimbleness and steering feeling of a smaller car.. also the power delivery is insanely aggressive and I love it!👀👀😎🤣
My first bmw was a 2015 m235i. I just ordered the same color you have a week ago. My dealer is small so I have to wait for them to submit my order once they get a slot for it. Then I have to wait for the build time and delivery.
I should have showed lol. But I put my left hand down on the aluminum M seal area n prop myself up. That’s only to protect the seat. Otherwise if you go in n out rubbing, eventually it will wear down.
@@mrduke2471 ok I think I can visualize it. Mine come in June and I am going with the all black theme and red breaks. Smoke out what I can and add more carbon. I’m letting my M2 competition go. I’m a little sad.
Definitely worth it! I drive it daily, gas is not to bad for me.. bucket seats can be uncomfortable on long drives but other than that, I love it! I do have a 2nd car for bad weather tho, definitely will not drive on snow or ice, lol.. I can feel a little slip in wet conditions..
Definitely feel you. Brakes easy fix a lot of people are doing is to get new aftermarket pads. In the Porsche they make a little loop to hold the belt to the seat. Maybe someone makes that for these.
I love the squared off chiselled look on the front of these things...They look great. Cars are so individual, as evidenced by how polarizing the looks of this thing seems to be for people. I don't understand where the controversy is personally. This thing looks great, certainly better than the m4. If I had to pick one area, it would be the back...But even that I don't mind all that much... Congrats on your car. Like the colour.
@@mrduke2471 As you should. This car is really a great value compared to what’s out there these days if you ask me. The manual option is a draw too. I would probably spec it just like you have here. I’m currently waiting on a 2024 F-type R myself. I wish there had been a manual option. That’s the only thing I’m not happy with. Other than this, the F-type has always been on my list of cars of interest. Well, and the colour options. Jaguar really paired the colours down as part of their streamlining. Not many good options really. Congrats again. Great choice. All the best from Canada.
Dang you started off strong with BMW. My first and still have it, an old 2008 328i. But it's a manual with sport suspension so it's still fun to drive as a daily.
@@mrduke2471 I ordered it back in April. They told me by the end of the summer or early fall. I’m wondering if I’ll get pushed off to a 2024 model. I know the 23s came out late so i’m not sure how they’ll be handling that. We’ll see I guess.
Ok , did you get a build and vin # on the BMW app? Also congratulations!! N if you have any questions on the process.. I can definitely answer.. it was definitely a struggle process but mainly of my high hopes lol..
@@mrduke2471 No they never gave me one. I was like 3 or 4 back on their allocation list so maybe that’s why. I didn’t even realize they gave you a vin number. I’m gonna have to call them tomorrow and see if they actually placed the order yet. Hopefully they did.
