I am a big BMW fan for long time and have driven them for long time. Range Rover always had a wow factor. But as soon as I saw this new Range Rover it’s a jaw dropping wow. Big slap to the car industry specially to the German cars who is making their cars look like alien to make it modern. Range Rover just showed how simplicity is the best way to make the car elegant and modern looking. Yes there are lot of things regarding tech German cars will be ahead and sometimes it’s too much. But Range Rover again shows why they are the bench mark of SUVs. Wow wow wow.
Interesting review in that many of the complaints to the RR I don’t understand. My wife and I just purchased a 23’ Range P530 SE. We crossed shopped the x7 extensively and I love the car. I am not offended by the looks of the x7 but in comparison to the Range it’s not even close. I was taken back by his love of the design and his defense didn’t make sense. The x7 is a collection of odd shapes that won’t age well. X7 drives more car like and buttoned down but that’s not what my wife prefers. The RR just drives so much smoother and relaxed. Also the seats are not comparable. Again I was lost on this part. X7 seats are very nice. But not in the same league nor are the material quality and choices. Again a huge difference that he didn’t care to mention. Then AC controls. In what world is operating a silly screen to scroll through tabs while driving easier than a single knob in the Range? In real world operation the Range is far easier and quicker to operate
Agreed. I have both vehicles. X740i and the new RRS. While the X7 is a solid car in every regard, there’s just something special about the rover, that just feels more premium, refined and above the BMW. You can only make that assessment after owning and living with both vehicles for a good amount of time.
I would choose the Range Rover anytime, the BMW is too kitschy inside, I don't like their infotainment either. A Rover in this color inside and out and with these wheels is downright gorgeous and classy.
This is exactly the comparison that I've been waiting for. Thank you, guys 👍 Was there any wind noise from Range Rover? because a lot of reviewers and owners have been complaining. Hmm..
I just ordered a 2023 X7 Xdrive 40i. Thank you so much for this great review you guys are awesome. I LOVE everything about this car. Cannot wait to get it. Crazy thing is I have not even test driven the car but I know its going to be amazing.
I tried to order a 2023 range rover, but was told that I’d be waiting at least 12 to 15 months for delivery. So I bought a 2023 BMW X7 instead. I’m enjoying the vehicle as far as gas mileage the driving experience and the ride. There are some cheap touches throughout that’s just unforgivable at this price point. That being said, I hold onto the X7 for the next year and a half or so and maybe by that time, they’ll be an inventory of Range Rover’s to purchase. Thanks for the comparison video. I do agree that the Range Rover is much more refined and elegant. The Achilles’ heel of the range rover is its reliability. Bmw needs to step up their interior game as far as quality of materials and options being standard at that price point. My ex seven didn’t even come standard with cooled seats and we’re talking 93,000 USD.
Interesting. Your X7 must not have the full leather interior. BMW offers 3 options, faux leather, extended real leather, or full leather. Depending on which option you choose, also determines your interior materials.
I ordered a fully loaded x7 m60i and I thought the interior quality was extremely good and it had more features even comparing to the Range Rover I test drove. I guess for BMW you just gotta spend the extra $ to make it nicer
The guy can't let anything good thing about the range rover be left unchallenged, and must have the last word. 3 years from now the RR is going to look as relevant as ever, whilst the Bmw is going to look outdated so Range Rover takes value point all day. Bmw ambient lighting btw is so tacky probably everyone is going to leave it off. The range rover engine was best, but point is given to bmw because its a bmw engine, yet the range rover has to take the loss on fuel milage? How does that make sense?
@july monte Range rover is a timeless icon. People love to compare land rover with Toyota, but don't seem to realise that it's not very hard to be reliable when you use the same pre-2000 four cylinder in every vehicle, and with heated seats as the only available extra. The merc is a geezer-mobile and looks horrible. I'd pay the premium of a range rover to drive what every other suv on the market tries to be.
Totally agree. His rationale for the bmw over the Range Rover doesn’t make any sense. He complains over the same stuff he would praise in the bmw. It’s just a bizarre review for a car journalist to be that unable to hide his bias
In the BMW X7 you don‘t have to touch anything. Just use the voice control and you get anything you request. Drove the RR and now X7 M60i and I do not regret. The RR is not unreliable as I never had any issues. Comparing both V8 4.4 the RR has the old engine and in comparison to the new V8. Otherwise 2 great cars and only personal factors might decide. Anyhow either car is great
These vehicles are both absolutely ridiculous planet smashers indicative of how sick out society has become, and emblematic of our desire for oblivion. Having said that, it is clear that one of the two is capable of doing that which all the lumbering mass and awkwardness are meant to express i.e. go over difficult terrain while remaining very comfortable as a daily car. Here the Range Rover does what it says on the tin, while the BMW is as wilfully delusional as the disconnected fantasists who will to be fair, be driving both vehicles.
