Great job man. I currently have the envision and it is great to be able to tune it yourself at home instead of having to go into the shop if you do not have a bow press. Keep up the great work.
I shot Elite the past two years love there bows! I am stoked to shoot the Era this year! Thanks for the great content and reviews! I wish I was on the other side of the country and I would be hanging out at Podium Archery all the time!
I alway enjoy your reviews, you do a great job keeping the testing criteria the same. Any chance you could compare the new Elite and Bowtech carbon models head to head?
Thanks for taking the time for these reviews. I sure do wish you'd put the bows in spec before you review them though. Why not a few twists (untwists) for proper ATA and ensure cam synch, then go to it 🤷🏼♂️
I just shot one today , your review was dead on with our results also. With a set of stabilizers it was really dead in hand and very quiet. A real competitor with the Bowtech carbon one. Lol. I shot them both for about and hr. Would be hard to choose. Great Bow tho. Love all the adjustments made easy.
Been waiting for this also, just curious how it compares to Omnia in your opinion? i am in the market for a new stick flicker. keep up the excellent content.
Most honest reviews no bull shit here. I’ve had the opportunity to meet mfjj a couple times at his shop in Spokane we’re I got my most recent bow setup his guys do a great job
I currently own two elite bows, including one with the s.e.t. technology. I'm excited about the new carbon elite and might just consider breaking the bank to get one. Won't be able to shoot one until well into the new year when the local shops get the demo.
I haven't shot an Athens but from what I've heard they are nice bows. The thing is though Elite is running away from all other companies with their technology.
I just recently went and shot all the new bows from Hoyt Mathews pse and bowtech. Honestly the elite carbon era and the Omnia were my two favorite. I have never shot elite before this but they are second to non. All the bows are great now days it just comes down to personal preference.
Except can you really justify an extra 300+ dollars for a carbon bow that weighs a couple ounces different🤷♂️ for someone building there first bow that 300+ could be very helpful on buying a sight, release, arrows, etc. my last bow was a PSE and loading it up with everything I ended up spending 2200$ and if I went carbon it would’ve costed 2500 or more. Until there’s an actual weight difference that’s noticeable I wouldn’t go carbon plus they have more vibration then a normal bow
@@melvinsacromentoe agreed I was always told buy once cry once on something you really want for yourself but I can’t say I see more pros for spending that and all these guys run Mathews bows, so if this is someone’s main source of archery content why not go with the phase 4 it’s what they all switched to🤷♂️
These are not carbon bows, risers, just carbon wrapped aluminum risers. Carbon's average atomic molars mass (weight) is 12.01 amu. Same for aluminum is 26,981539 amu. I own two aluminum bows that are lighter than there carbon bows with the same ATA. Diamond Infinite Edge 3.2 Lbs and PSE Dream Season Decree 3.7 Lbs.
Elite has never really been a company that ever caught my attention. I gotta say, this Carbon Elite has really grabbed my attention. The engineers at Elite didn't over promise and under deliver. Atleast when it comes to the innovation for the DIY Guys.. Thanks for the Review MFJJ!
I just ordered my Elite Era and I can't wait for it to show up. I shot the Pse Levitate and didn't like it. The Hoyt RX7 Ultra wasn't bad but definitely not worth the coin in my opinion. Great review
People need to understand there’s so much more to carbon than just weight. Carbon has almost 4x the tensile strength as aluminum. It is also more riding and holds its original form better and less prone to bending. This helps with riser flex during shot. Carbon is also less thermal reactive than aluminum so it handles extreme temperatures better. And yes carbon is less dense than aluminum so comparing mass vs mass carbon weighs less. It just so happens some manufacturers will make a carbon bow that weighs similar to aluminum, that’s simply due to the amount of material used. Mathews new Phase 4 is $1400. I just got an RX7 Ultra for $1650 new from dealer. No carbon isn’t for everyone but before you bash it, research the materials first. There’s plenty of advantages to carbon and the amount of engineering involved is impressive. Side note: Hoyt has videos of them running over their carbon risers and picking them up and shooting. I’ve seen a Mathews riser get backed over by accident and the riser snapped in 3 places. Prime example of carbon strength
MFJJ, How about a video about how to adjust holding weight? I have searched you tube and can't find anything that explains how to do it and how it affects your sight picture. You will be the first!!
Being a northern boy, I like to hunt late season. That being said, I'm a big fan of carbon bows. So glad to see more companies producing some carbon bows. With Bowtech and Elite being their first year at producing carbon bows I think they will have some growing pains along the way, however I think they had both put out some impressive bows this year and only to get better. I wonder if Mathews will dip their toes into the carbon risers?. However until then I think I will stick with my RX7 Ultra.
Bowtech had one years ago it sucked and had major issues with the risers worpping. Carbon icon or ion something like that. Junk I actually tossed my in the trash can literally. They said we can give u 200 of a new realm at the time of contacting them. F that. Now a elite Mathews and soon to be Hoyt owner and happy with them
Matthews won't go carbon because you probably can't have all those intergrate cut outs in carbon from here on out guarantee Matthews does those cutouts
I really like your content. One tip, and I'm not being negative at all, but I'd really call these more overviews than reviews. You really don't get much in-depth into the bow other than the basic specs, etc..., so that's why I say that. Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work!
If we are doing cheesy comments, emmental ;) Was super curious about elite bows. There's a lot of stuff I like about te tech they bring. How does that tuning system compare to bowtech's?
On my last 3 Elite bows, at 30" the cams wanted to rub the cables when the SET was put to center. Have you found this to be happening on this new cam? I haven't received my demo model yet. The rep said it was slated to ship last week but we didn't see it yet. The Omnia we received both needed to have the SET pushed all the way left on the bottom and right on the top to clear the cable from rubbing as the cam rolled over.
Looking for a mid priced bow that doesn’t jump into the valley and that will separate your shoulder when you let down. Any recommendations out there is appreciated. Hoyt Torrex - Others?
man i'm torn now. I really like that idea of the omnia, but then they had to release this. However, for a .5 lb difference i'm not sure the money is worth it. I do like seeing that brace height at 7.25 though.
Does anyone have the Era with a 30.5” draw length? I have the Ethos which I really like, but I have also shot the Era and love the way it shoots, the feel, and the weight. Just not sure how the peep would line up at that string angle.
I think so. One of their designers said in an interview that there is embedded aluminium at the ends of the riser to allow the bolts to bolt in for the SET system. From the pictures it looks like the limb locking bolts could bolt into that as well though maybe they simply go right through a hole in the riser and bind the tabs on limb pockets against the sides of the riser? Whatever the case I'm quite intrigued as there looks to be some clever thought gone into a number of aspects in this bow design. Wasn't considering a carbon bow but I really want to try one of these out.
Elites normally come stock fitted with the performance mods however they are also normally set by default at 90% let off vs the 80% let off that their IBO speed is measured at. As a side note my Elite Remedy is about 4fps faster at 80% vs 90% let off
I do have one question for everyone, why are people building carbon bows? Is it really too save .5 lbs? I mean i get that, that could be the reason. but other than that, am i missing anything?
i need a speed bow just like that-recoil never heard of her,70lb forget about it -seems like everything is getting advanced and stornger except real men poor souls cant even handle a bow
