Sure. My 1 year old Silverado started making a loud grinding noise when I put it gear. It had 13k miles. When I called the dealership they told me that they can’t get me into next week. A $70 k vehicle. I’ll never buy another one.

I feel Chevy missed an opportunity by including the full size gauge screen on the Z71. That appears to be a more luxury interior option and the bigger screen would have been nice.

I’d be curious if that DIC could be upgraded to the full size like what will be in the ZR2?? I am getting a Z71 but agree that the wasted space there is annoying. If that couldn’t be utilize then why have it? If an software/firmware update would enhance that or a hardware upgrade could.

For people that use their trucks to haul stuff - the deal breaker for mid size trucks is the box length. If they could just find a way to get at least a 6' box on there, they'd have my attention.

I bought my gray metallic Colorado Trail Boss with every option except the cameras,, I can turn my back up camera on while driving though,,,,I payed 41,200 the GMC Canyon elevation I looked at same color,, didn’t even have 4x4 and was marked up big time for 48k,,,,that’s why I chose what I bought,,I think the TB looks better than the Z71 too, the stance, better wheels and track width,,,I didn’t care whatsoever about the interior,, I also like the looks of the black plastic on the front better than the Z71

zr2 only '11-inch Diagonal Color Driver Info Center' . The rest of the trim is an '8-inch diagonal multicolor driver information center'. This is a bad policy.

Great review! They dropped the ball on the smaller screen, non powered rear sliding window, and no turn signals on mirrors which comes in really handy when merging or trying to get over a lane in traffic.

Say what? You expected the larger Silverado screen in the Colorado? Manual sliding rear window is fine. And you know what works? Normal blinkers on the front and back. 1st world problems.

@@elche1976 The larger screen is on the coming ZR2 and Canyon, the power slider already on the Tacoma as well as the mirror blinkers. At this price point they should have these options. Your first world reference is pretty dumb. Why upgrade anything if that is your argument!

@James Teter and are you talking about the digital cluster behind the steering wheel being bigger? Because the touch screen is the same in all trim levels. Yes, the digital cluster is in the zr2 but the rich is still 11.3. Talk about little things.

I already purchased my '22 Tacoma "4x4 off-road" because I don't like the turbo setup. I've owned it before on the Honda's & not a fan. Plus I live in Phoenix during the summer which is about 6 months a year The motors get extremely heat soaked very quick

Depends what you mean by better. GM fan boys will say the Colorado is better because it’s slick looking, and faster. But bring reliability stats and longevity into the mix they’re quick to talk about “old GM reliability” which is true, they were once very dependable trucks but now a days.. GM trucks 2016 or newer start to have major issues right after 130-150k miles. A Tacoma wouldn’t even be catching its second wind by that point lol. But yes, he does have the better truck, reliability wise.

I have a 2022 GMC regular cab short box with the 2.7 turbo HO. MY MPG is 18 city and 19.5 in 80 mph freeway driving. I think these new mid size GM will see very similar mileage since they both weigh about the same.

@EddieX Great review. I’m surprised that the engine wasn’t more impressive. At 420 pound feet of torque seems class leading. I like both the Z71 and the Trail Boss setups.

In 2023 not having LEDs as base is just cheap by GM. That is what this truck comes across to me. It is not priced cheaply, but GM has gone to any extent possible to use cheap parts. Cheap 8 speed transmission. Cheap one turbo laggy engine. One body and one cab. Nickel and dime on options. Tilt and telescope as option. What a joke.

There are some mechanical differences between the three engines.. It would more in depth process to get more power out of the base engine. You can't just do a tune.

The base motor has the same turbo but less cooling so it has less power. The plus and HO are the same motor outside of tune.

Toyota keeps on with the Tacoma because of the reliability of Toyota. Drive a Tacoma 300,000 miles and do one tune up and ordinary wear items tires/brakes ect. Drive a new chevy and you may get 80,000 miles before major parts wear out.

You can’t get the base engine and upgrade it to the high output, not sure who told you that. There are hardware upgrades made for the higher tier engines so it can handle the much power, not just software upgrades.

@@zoobrizz I am sorry about your Silverado, hopefully it is an easy fix. There is a class action lawsuit against GM eight speed transmission. Used in SUVs, trucks, Corvettes, Camaros. You can google it. Essentially it has difficulty getting into low gear after hard accelerations, it shakes violenty and eventually has mechanical issues. GM's response: change transmission fluid to synthetic Mobil 1, which does help for a little while but problems then repair.
