Test drove one two weeks ago. Decent truck. Not as quiet as a Frontier. The 2.7T definitely hesitates off the line and is really course sounding when accelerating. Not bad when just cruising but stepping on the throttle it’s not refined. Sounds a a food processor.
I think the V6 should have stayed, but they definitely could benefit from the hybrid or turbo 4. If the hybrid and/or turbo 4 were the standards on lower trim levels that would've kept the price lower and provided some competition for the Ford Maverick. But, like almost all midsize trucks, you have to spend between 35-40k just to get basic amenities that crossovers and sedans get on their base models (like cruise control and a back up camera).
My father had a 2020 Colorado with a V6. That was in my opinion a great engine and it didn't need to work hard under acceleration. I don't understand why GM dropped it especially when this new 4 Cylinder Turbo gets way worse fuel economy. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
For 3:15 GM should have kept the Naturally Aspirated V6, and the option of the 3rd Pedal 6 Speed Manual Transmission... I lived with Turbos Engines are not Reliable due to them being Mounted 1/8 of an Inch from the Aluminum Block. While Turbos get to be up to 1,875 Degrees Fahrenheit, and Automatic Paddle Shifters ( make me sleepy like Tesla Drivers lol ). I will never Buy Electric Vehicles (EV) Either... Let me know if you want to know why I think EV's are Toxic, and Dangerous. Great Looking Truck though, never a Turbo, or Automatic either.. Awesome Review
