I briefly show the suspension on the new Super Duty and show a problem I have found with the truck. Since the truck was new it has had these corrions spots on the wheels. I'm going to take it back to Ford to see if they will warranty it. I'll keep you posted

Ask the paint shop to look at them. I had a tacoma (2006) that had a similar look on the hood. I qas told it was "solvent pop". The prep solvent just before painting had not fully flashed off, and the paint looked very similar.

You’re probably right. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow to see if they will replace the wheels. I’d honestly like to keep one of the blemished wheels as a spare but I don’t know if Ford will do that.

@@time_on_target ask for PVD black chrome! They can refinish those wheels and make them better!

I wonder if it is brake dust from the fronts etching the paint.

Only happened on two wheels though, one front wheel and one rear wheel. I think there was something done incorrectly when the wheels were painted/powder coated.

Speaking of paint issues... I'm curious to know what the paint thickness in mils is?... I just scanned one I ordered that came in today and the bed was 4-5 mils and from the cab corners to the front bumper was anywhere from 9-11 mils!?

Are the fronts worse? Maybe brake dust? On some of my cars it really get caked on there and is hard to remove but with only 3000 miles I doubt it. Keep us updated what the stealership says.

It was actually on one front and one rear on opposite sides so kind of random. I removed the wheels completely to try and get it to come off but it's pitted through the powder coating on the wheels.

Are the two wheels that have that issue the rears? I wonder if it’s some form of stress concentration and causing the powder coat / paint to chip. The rears would have a lot more weight especially when towing and that would make more sense.

It was one front wheel and one rear.

At least it's the wheels and not the body. My Jeep Gladiator was corroding from the inside out on every aluminum part, doors, hinges, hood etc. Worst vehicle I have ever owned. Best of luck.

Took it to my local dealer. They took some pictures to send to Ford. Now it's just a waiting game.

As long as they replace it without giving me a hassle I will be okay with it. I was told I would hear back from them sometime next week.

lol, yeah...all the new things are so expensive. I did get a reasonable deal, $85k and I will keep it for a very long time. I kept my last truck for 11 years and I had no major maintenance problems. Let's hope history repeats itself with this truck. I am a little concerned about all the electronics and digital screens.
