No matter how impractical and poorly built the bronco is, it does it’s one job really well which is one-upping the guy at your office park that has a TRD pro that he also doesn’t use to off-road
Only works if you pull up on Monday after a weekend of mudding, trailing, and bashing and you haven't put the doors back on, plus it's raining and you walk in the office with a pancho and a cast, because during the weekend festivities you broke your💪 and lost a🦷. 🛻⛰️🚙🏞️
Not gonna lie, Mr. Regular hit the nail on the head. I'm a GM guy since I was born in the backseat of a Greyhound bus in 70', but this DOES make me want to buy a 1965 IH Scout. Old enough to member' when a truck like this would come in under $20K and options were pwr brakes and stearing. Trucks like this were made for 5 gallon buckets full of Old Milwaukee or Old Style on ice, fishing poles, Lynrd Skynyrd Gold and Platnum cassette, the dog and 20 something girls still rocking commando Daisy Dukes and the bikini top. That's the 30+ year nostalgia... That's what FoMoCo is trying to market to us Xers and tail end Boomers. Doing a hell of job, too.
@@1lovesgreatness Yup. Allman Bros. best of cassette rockin too. ZZ Top, AC/DC, Van Halen. 1986 and a Bronco or Blazer with some buddies and the aforementioned girls on a Saturday afternoon. All was right with the world. Ford is selling the nostalgia and covering up the sins of a mediocer truck. Great design tho'.
"it deserves to be better made.....but maybe it's so good that maybe it'll make people want to take care of it" basically describes my relationship with my eight year old Fiesta ST.
I bought one of the first STs in the US (in late '13) and only traded it in last year, so it was nearly 9 years old. Mine never gave me much to complain about, other than the clicking vent control (apparently a common issue) and one trim piece I broke near the end of my time with it (cargo area panel with the peg for the cargo cover, about a $35 5 minute replacement) the thing was rock solid and never needed anything beyond routine maintenance. There were things about it that were obviously cheap, but it also held up well to years of Southern California heat and sun and lots of canyon and trackday driving, and I was happy enough with the quality that I'm driving a Ranger now, another foreign-designed Ecoboost Ford.
A couple of corrections. There is a base model until 2023 (in fact, Mr. Regular is driving one). Also, you can fold the rear seats in the two door flat, you need to fold the bottoms up first.
Hrm, well, that would make that make more sense I guess. I was finding the lack of useful foldability pretty baffling. As in 'How hard could it be to do something as basic as that? '
@@charlesputt8588 Tall boi here. The rear seats on the 2dr fold flat with the fronts all the way back. Mr. Regular didn't use Mr. Release Lever to put the headrests down.
came looking for this comment. Need to pop the seat up and then they fold flat. Also while the trunk is "only" 2 feet, it is still better than the foot and a half you get in a wrangler. Either way these aren't practical cars, that's why they make the four door.
Even still, that’s so dumb. Every other SUV can have their seats go flat by pulling a single lever or strap and pushing the seat down. You have to push the front seats forward, fold the bottom seat, fold the backrests, and then move front seats back to their original position. Ford took a simple 2-step process and turned it into a tedious 4-step process.
Definitely it looks gorgeous. Time will tell if this became another legendary model for Ford or another flop like the Bronco 2. Rooting for it. Another alternative to the Wrangler is always welcome.
Ironically the bronco 2 is a killer off roader. There cheep and easy to fix and any serious off roading your going to brake stuff. You don't want expensive nice shit to do what we do. It will get tore up it will get scratched and dented.
@stevebuscemi3622 Absolutely agree! It's unique in a sea of gray and white CUV sameness, and I think will age very well, but not gorgeous. Aston Martin DB5? Gorgeous. Porsche 959: Gorgeous. Bronco isn't there yet!
2:32 So, having owned the 2 door for a little bit (in this color actually, though not as a Sasquatch), I found out near the end of my ownership that the rear seats actually do fold flat. You have to lift the seat portion up and put it up against the driver or passenger front seat backing, and then the back of the rear seat can be pushed down flat. I didn't learn that from the dealer or mucking around myself, rather I went to an autoshow and a Bronco on display showed how the seat folds flat.
My bronco looks very similar to this but it has the 2.7 TwinTurbo V6 and that solves a lot of the problems that he brings up it was definitely worth the extra money.
Bought my black diamond with the 2.7 at MSRP for cash and have not looked back. Does want I want it to do off road and does not ride like a covered wagon from the 1800s (like a jeep does) on the road. Are there things I would have changed? Yes, but that can be said of any vehicle.
13:19 yep that’s it. Nailed it. It looks like a concept drawing come to life, and it looks like an original International Harvester Scout. Elite description.
The Ecoboost confusion comes from the fact that it's just a brand name and each displacement is a different design with different parts, some of them aren't even Ford engines, they just stick the ecoboost badge on so Uncle Cleetus doesn't get scared that Japan is invading again.
So the 2.3 isn't a stroked-out 2.0 found in the Escape? Why, Ford? Considering they coined the term 'modular engine', why in the flying blue 2023 fuck do you have engines with completely incompatible parts?
It's very old news now but I've gotta say that "Ecoboost" is such a terrible name in regards to marketing. I've talked to multiple people who thought it was some kind of hybrid system based on the name and logo alone.
@@illegal_space_alien"So the 2.3 isn't a stroked-out 2.0 found in the Escape? Why, Ford?" They are both variants of the 2.3L Mazdaspeed 3 engine. Indeed, the 2.0L is a destroked variant. The 1.6L inline-four is a different engine, and the 1.0-1.5L three-cylinder Ecoboost are obviously different engines as are the V6 Ecoboosts.
As a Bronco owner you are 100% correct…. And that makes me sad…. Quality is absolute garbage…..gained a new subscriber….. respect for the 100% honesty ….review the POS S650 Darkhorse next
I know exactly how you feel about the Bronco! I have had 2 real ones..a 88 and a 92. I miss them dearly and had been waiting for the new one for awhile. I was planning on trading my lifted 2012 4Runner in on one but sooo many things just felt "off" when I first sat in the new Bronco. I still haven't driven one but I do tend to get bored with vehicles after a few years...owing approx 25 different vehicles since like 1998 lol. The new Landcruiser and GX550 have things I really like about them but I'm still waiting for the next 4Runner. This new Bronco will always be one of those things that I"could" see myself buying and modding.....but we will see what the future holds.
I can do in my bronco stock what it takes 50 grand to do with a 4runner. But yeah wait for that 4runner. By the time it gets here it will be outdated just like the current ones.
The Heritage limited edition... I was waiting for a ''Sew Faaaahncy!"". I live next to a Ford plant and theses lil Bro-Dozers all park in a little group in the lot. It's adorable. Granted there was a nasty pothole on the main road in but I'm sure it was one of the guys that complained and had it recently paved.
It's definitely a good looking truck. Those body lines are very 1970s-1980s inspired to me. It has that styling that ford ditched in the mid to late 90s and has never been able to come close to again since.... except for here.
I just found your channel with your video, as my brother is considering buying a Bronco. Immediately subscribed, as this review was hilarious. Loved all the references sprinkled throughout.
I pondered trading in my 2014 JK Wrangler for a new Bronco but after the massive mark up BS Ford dealers were pulling plus all the issues you mentioned I just went and got a new Tacoma TRD off road instead.
My mom ended up purchasing a 2dr Bronco Sasquatch Black Diamond edition last month. She eneded up building hers and ordering through a dealer in Northern Indiana because there wasn't a single dealer in Wisconsin who would sell for msrp. Long story short she got hers for msrp but its a massive heap a bs that the dealers are shoving in the consumer's faces.
@@cyberrednec You should ALWAYS custom order a new car. The markup BS across the entire industry is the result of people wanting to have the new shiny thing right this second instead of having some patience. If you really need a car for the few months it takes to get your custom order, buy a cheap shitbox you can sell at scrap value or for a similar price to what you paid and it will cost you a LOT less than swallowing some greedy dealerships 'market adjustments.'
@@lucasokeefe7935custom ordering doesn't guarantee you'll get it at MSRP, they can still tack on a markup when you place the order. Some dealers are horrific with it, others are cool.
This is the 2020’s FJ Cruiser. Impractical, sells more than it’s truly capable of, ridiculously expensive even aftermarket, but looks so good that anything else is moot.
I got an OG Bronco. Sub 100hp 6cyl. 3spd manual. Power nothing. 4wheel drums. It's still a fun old truck with 4in lift and 33s, and does suprising well offroad with a cheapass lift and open diffs.
If you're surprised by the tailgate, you must have not driven a Jeep Wrangler in the past 30 years. It works the same way. The owner says its basic, and it is for a Bronco. But it does have many features. It's got all the stuff we didn't have in basic cars 20 years ago, A/C, power windows/locks, radio with all the Apple Car Play, etc. As for the seats, no, they don't fold flush with the cargo area. But, in the video, they weren't completely folded. The bottoms need to fold forward first (much like your 4Runner) and then the back folds. The seat should be removable though like it is on the Wrangler. But it is a darn capable machine. For the $44k the owner paid, he has a great off-road suspension, great axles, 4.7 gearing, front and rear lockers, and 35 in tires. You weren't getting 35s on the Jeep from the factory before the Bronco came in. The instrument cluster on the Bronco is ridiculous. It needs a real tach. And can't we just have gauges for fuel, oil pressure, etc. I have gotten used to a digital speedo though.
Damn dude. Did you get beat up by a guy driving a Jeep when you were a kid or something? You got a chip on your shoulder. I don't even want to listen to this video anymore and I had a full-size bronco with the manual transmission and it was wonderful. And yes, the hard top had some issues that was about it though for mine. I loved it. Only reason I got rid of it was my dog. Couldn't get in and out of it anymore so I went to a bronco's score. Badlands just as great, although for different reasons. I was interested to see why you thought it was bad but damn I can't even get through your intro
People here in the comments section are forgetting that although it may be an expensive truck with crap quality, it was built with only one thing in mind: off road dominance (ok two, it really was made to be pretty). All these people saying they’d take their TRD pros over a bronco can say that about fit and finish, quality, whatever. But this was made for the hard core enthusiast in mind, not the casual softcore off-roader. Yes, 98% of them will never see a patch of grass, but blame the consumer, not the machine.
It needs a V8. For the price they want, and the size of the vehicle, a 4 cylinder is just ridiculous. Put a coyote in these and a manual, I would want one so bad. Unfortunately these new Broncos do nothing that I want them to do. All they are is a tease.
The auto industry is really struggling since the pandemic. The employee turnover is insane because it’s commonly hard work, lots of hours, and low pay.
They look cool; but I’ve heard stories about the off road problems they have. My family was in Moab last year when my uncle wrangler needed service; after breaking in on a pretty bad trail. From what I heard the problems really become prevalent on Broncos when mods are done to them. I like the styling, but not thrilled with the stories about reliability. I’m also not keen on the hype beast aura surrounding this car; but I also feel that way about the 4Runner and they are bomb proof. My wife and I do a lot of camping and our current 01 f150 is approaching the end of her life cycle. By the end of next year we are planning on replacing it before serious issues start to become more common. We have been doing some light off-roading as well and are considering a 4x4. Admittedly I passively considered looking at these, but the cost and reliability has me skeptical.
The new Bronco was the best idea Ford has had in years and the worst executed. All they had to do was beat the Jeep on quality and reliability and they would have had their own money machine long term. Instead, they went for the quick money grab and ripped off their customers.
What if I like the wallet that was passed down to me from my great-grandfather? It's got a camo pattern to it, and unlike metal wallets, the pattern isn't gonna wear off.
I drool over the Bronco and the Maverick Lariat...and I've never once had an interest in a Ford. In the end, I am just going to end up getting a Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro that gets the same mileage for less money than a Bronco and have something infinitely more reliable and useable.
You should have driven a 2.7 auto instead, it's pretty freaking decent, especially on the highway in street clothes (Outer Banks advanced 4x4 non-sasquatch) without giving up much in off-road capabilities.
I have a Wrangler Sport (JKU) and Renegade (cheap 2WD version). I feel like for the price the little Renegade was a great deal, and for someone who wanted to drive on narrow city streets and occasionally go down a dirt road, the 4x4 Renegade would be a better fit than the Bronco, with a similar amount of cargo area and slightly better MPG. But that's no surprise the Renegade is a Fiat 500X targeted towards younger people who live in urban environments but like the idea of adventure. It's exactly Bronco's target market but cheaper and better build quality.
This thing came out... when everyone was coughing and had a mask on. Bronco came out.. cause it decided to take everything it could and throw it at the DARTboard of Jeep Compeition. YUP, it stuck. First came the issues about pricing Second came the hardtop issues... by the same supplier.. that made has everyone crazy about roof leaking / gaskets for the past 30+yrs. Third came out with the fixes.. and the trims.. and how to order right from Factory... AFTER... this was all AFTER the Bronco Sport / Escape took the first coupla inches off the top.. so everyone could drive around during the MASK Virus thing.. (refuse to use the name) in a new car while bathing in its name. This was as hastily put together.. as it gets. Not at all surprised.
@@Hawk7886 LOL BS, drive mine all the time at 75 plus. The only folks who have issues (this goes for any 4x4...Broncos too) are ones who buy super heavy wheels/tires with spacers, worn bushings, and without getting beefed up steering to support the grossly out of spec increased lever forces.
@@VEC7ORlthow would a vegan barista even remotely compare to a Bronco? lol The Bronco is the chain-smoking high school cheerleader on the wrong side of middle aged thinking she can still pull it off even though she's had four kids who are now getting ready to graduate from college.

He was acquitted of the charges due to lack of evidence but he lives in florida and has pretty much been blacklisted from everything because everyone is convinced he did it.
My brother did his Bronco right. Pre-ordered, was sent photos of it being built by the factory. Took delivery of it, did a couple tasteful mods and put 5K miles on it while not really being impressed despite everyone else pining for it. Sold it back to the dealership nearly a year later at peak demand and pocketed about $8K.

I wheel with alot of different folks locally in Ohio, and I haven't seen a single new Jeep or Toyota out on the trails, but there is a Bronco, and it's been reliable, and gets around very well off-road.
I have an FJ Cruiser and it runs as expected- excellent. Reliability also excellent. Have been lusting for a Bronco. This may have increased my appreciation for the FJ.
Like about any car, wait for the last model year before the next generation. Most of the bugs are worked out, and the dealership wants them gone yesterday.
The broncos are super cool. I think someone with an fj would really like one of these. This guy was hurt by someone has a very odd view of things don't let it make you think they aren't great. I've only had sports cars and sport sedans and want one. They drive pretty dang. I think they age very good. At about a 100k miles the 4 cylinder will likely need a little work, maybe a turbo and de carboned. But worth it imo
Was all up for a new Bronco. I have a 2010 FJ and love it. Plus it is not depreciating It curbed the desire for a Bronco unless there is a green Heritage edition. But reviews have been less than stellar.
If Toyota made it, there'd be a $10,000 mark up, and they'd still be reserved out for the next 8 months. Toyota allocates so few vehicles to the US anymore.
Guess what they made it and almost nobody bought it when new. Now the used market for those is crazy and there are people bold enough to ask MSRP on a 10yr old one.
I wanted to get one but seeing the $100,000 price tags (when it first came out) made me question the decision. Needless to say, this is a $35,000 suv. Anything more than that is a scam. The prices have come down but nowhere near where it should be.
MSRP in the beginning was 31k for base model with no edition extras that still came with 30 inch tires. It's cheaper than a jeep but it's sad that u can't get it plain.
I wanted a base model in late 20 ,saw the markups and happily got a 20 civic si, markups were so huge that it made me contemplate what I actually needed
Thirty-five grand will barely get you a nice FWD crossover anymore. I'd love to agree with you, but if a GR86 is $40,000, this is worth 60 whether we like it or not. Pickups are even more ridiculous than regular cars/SUVs.
Still would love to have a low-trim bronco with 7mt though, the wrangler has garbage first gear, toyota no longer makes the FJ, and the Bronco gets better mileage than either, its the only offroader on the market in over 2 decades to come with a transmission that is even close to as good as an NP435, T18/19, or SM465 for anyone that actually uses their SUV.
It's almost the exact thing I told my dad when he bought his. He was bragging about the saquach package and its ground clearance and I said "the most off road this is ever going to see is when you park it in the back yeard at Thanksgiving so the drive ways open." His is the same color a 4 door auto.
@@robertstone9988 yur da will still own a truck and you will be looking for his when you get stuck or destroyed your things you dont take care of. Send some respect his way considering he owns a capable vehicle
I just got a 2023 Bronco Wildtrak and I absolutely love it. Everything is near perfect on it for an SUV with 35" tires. It has tons of power (330 hp / 415 ft lb tq), a beautiful and comfortable interior, tons of off-road features, and drives amazing with such large tires. In high school I built a jeep cherokee and installed 35" tires and it drove like absolute trash. Death wobble, slow, body roll, etc. So this is a dream to drive in comparison to other off-road vehicles including the wrangler. Hope you get to try out one of the higher end models! My only criticism is that all Sasquatch package Broncos should come with the electronic sway bar disconnect. Where are you going to need front and rear lockers without a sway bar disconnect? It makes no sense.
These broncos look fuckin amazing in person. I saw them first on RU-vid and thought they were cool but this video isn’t lying they look mean as fuck in person. Plus Matt’s off-road has a gig on their crew who has one with bigger tires and the thing outshined multiple fully built rock crawling rigs. Especially in the sand mud or snow. The only bad thing about them is the way their suspension is set up. I think the lower part of the shock sticks out well past the bottom of the axle so if your doing some crazy off roading or going over logs you glean easily stick the axle into a stump or log and be stuck. But they make an aftermarket part for it
Ford looked at Jeep printing money and thought "hey, why don't we do that?" The green looks fantastic. We need more green cars. I may be biased as a Jeep owner but I love the big tires and big fenders. I like how these look. Props to the owner for getting the 7-speed even though it limits the available options. Shame about everything else.
I upgraded from a 20 jeep to a 23 4-door Bronco. IMO i like the way the bronco drives better... The jeep drives like a truck which i liked. and the Bronco drives like a bigger truck more precise then the jeep. I guess i might be biased as well. But so far the bronco has been very enjoyable. 500 miles one tank. 23.5 average MPG. The ride height is great. I got heated seats for winter. The soft top was fun and easy to use during summer. No leaks so far. I feel like the 2.3 will be a reliable engine if taken care of correctly. Turbo engines require more frequent oil changes.
Yeah, stellantis actually makes money while Ford just sits there with money printing ideas and screws around. Selling a Dodge Challenger for over a hundred thousand dollars, that's how's stellantis brings the money to Daddy
