I guess it needs to be said, that most of this mess was driver error. Using a low range was not a good idea, you need momentum to get up and around this mud and the steepness of the hill, not to mention to self-clean the tires. Great video and fun to watch and appreciate you putting yourself out there most would not!

When Ryan began by looking at the engine and saying, "Ho-ho-ho-ho," somehow I knew we were going to be in for a fun adventure. As usual, Ryan did not let us down. He tossed rocks, logs, boulders, more rocks, branches, and even more rocks, before he ad to call in the calvary. As he mentioned at the closing just because you have a way bigger stick (engine) you could still loose the battle. This was another excellent video with humor, drama, chaos, and even more rocks. Great Saturday night entertainment!

Word to the wise. When you are on an incline, your tires are mudded up and you have a log in front of you. . . Rock crawl mode doesn't make for enough wheel spin. If you can get them spinning, they will clear the mud and work better. :) Back up a few feet, GO! lol Does that thing have a Baja mode? Maybe that will work better next time.

That being said, with more tire flex from airing down and more wheel speed like 4 HI, I think you coulda got through pretty nicely. Either way, great review :)

To all the people complaining the truck is too big. It wasn't designed for this. The raptor is made to fly in the desert. You need the width to clear huge tires and have long suspension travel plus all the added stability. A lot of people seem to mentioning the lack of the torsen front end. Yes, it would have been nice to have the mechanical part but the truck does have an electronic system to mimic it. On the other hand it's good that it doesn't have the torsen because with 700hp you're just asking for issues such as very harsh engagement, broken cvs or broken diff.

I've been stuck several times before and after the second time I approached it different after. The way I got out was to simply back up. That's it and it worked every time. I was stationed at Fort Drum in Upstate New York and hate it but having a Ford F-150 with 4-wheel drive came in handy. Remember my solution is simply me opinion, not not the answer unless it helps.

The new Raptor R no longer offers a front TORSEN limited-slip differential. I think this is a mistake. It now uses brake distribution to control front wheel slip. It works ok, but not as good as a true mechanical limited slip.

That mud requires special tires with a tractor type of thread to be able to get out without help. With no trees around the Ford Raptor with winch would be useless anyway. The more horsepower vehicle has the easier is to get it stuck. Also the best rule of off roading says to get enough gear and most importantly do not go alone: have other folks with other vehicles with you just in case. In the video at the end of the day the most useful for off roading was good phone connection.

Ryan you need to man up here and call this crap for what it is. Go ask the dealer about the warranty if you use it as marketed. We need to stop this insanity and save the over moneyed mall crawlers some change.

BFG TA/KO2 tires are not good in mud. I have them, they are good tires, they are awesome in a handful of other situations but mud - no. You need stubbier ones. Also, wide tire size is bad in mud. Thinner ones sink in deeper, potentially to the bottom, where there is somewhat more grip. More importantly, if you take that long entry dirtroad and send it - that's where the RaptoR will shine.

Fun fact about this area: the mud has no bottom. Entire excavators have been buried.

@@drivingsports Bottomless mud! Sounds fun. Or scary? 🤔 In this case thinner ones definitely wouldn't work better.

I think the Raptor R also has a 2x2 mode also but you said it is full time all wheel drive I think you are wrong about that

M/T tires would help...but that mud was just too nasty! I've been stuck like Chuck before in my regular ol' F150 4x4 with AT tires...sucks!

Some of those situations you were in, you shoulda just let the truck eat....gave it the beans. I get you weren't trying to tear up the trail or the truck but you could have got out of that jam(s) by letting it romp.

Agreed. I noticed that there were several points where Ryan stopped the truck, and he shouldn't have - it was asking too much for the loaded-up tires to try to climb up from a dead stop on a road full of chocolate pudding that has a significant incline. You just don't do that, no matter what you're driving. And this also applies to the clowns in this message thread who insist that their Subaru CrossTreks could have made it up the hill! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😆😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣😅😅😂😂😂😂

I believe the raptors have the torsen front diff there are tricks to engaging it. Like tapping the brakes while accelerating and it will bind and engage Try that in the next raptor or tremor with the torsen front diff
