Mahindra is actually a very reliable brand. I don’t think except the Japanese any other brand can beat mahindras reliability. Also you won’t have problems with spare parts. Reliability and confidence being the reason Toyota is all the rage in India.
@@a338825lmao we are talking about the 2nd gen thar released in 2020 which literally looks like a wrangler copy from every angle, plus wrangler came out in the mid 80s and mahindra never had license to make them. Mahindra only had license to produce the cj3b and mahindra's jeep license had anyways expired when chrysler took over. If mahindra actually had the license, they'd produce the Jeep Wrangler as it is. Clearly a wrangler knockoff
Yes Mahindra diesel engines are very very reliable, I would say next to Toyota in India. I also own xuv 700 diesel and it is so much fun to drive and it's fuel economy would bring smile on your face every time
I cant give my opinion on the Tank, but it seems to be very good off road. I am a very happy owner of a Scorpio N, and after driving it on road for over 6000 km I can honestly say its a very economical vehicle with a very smooth comfortable ride, and this in comparison with a Prado. Fuel consumption 9l/100 km average, Prado rarely under 10, avearge 10,5. Switch off the stop start before you move. And yes the propshaft vibrated but was fixed. And about safety, with its high prfile tires and full size spare its much safer than a low profile SUV with no spare. So for lang trips I will rather use the Mahindra as I will stand 10 min next to the road vs a day in some very safe SUV’s. So for me it is safer than many low profile SUV’s.

HAHA yea I feel embarrassed reading all the comments from my fellow Indians.🤭 Sometimes, we just can't swallow the reality and would rather live in delulu. Loving and supporting one's own country is great, but there are realities that one cannot deny 😬
I don't see a problem with Indians giving their opinion of Mahindra especially when they have used or seen it for the longest. Especially when they have seen Mahindra evolve from an agricultural equipment manufacturer to a proper pass car manufacturer. Especially when a lot of Indians could testify how their Mahindra's clock more than 400000kms. I wonder what's the problem in sharing experience
@@ALWH1314 Not any I am aware of. Then I am not aware of many durable Chinese products either. As for Mahindra, their vehicles are well known for their rugged reliability.
@@Sam-bm8tu Maybe. Or maybe Indian companies will not sell to Russia as it will bring them under Western sanctions. In any case, the competition here is not German or Japanese, it's Chinese. And that is a certified pile of junk.
the Mahindra seems the better option, looks like a car that will last, carry more people and is cheaper. the tank breaking system seems dangerous and safety feature look dangerous and tedious to turn off every drive
Chinese Tank and Mahindra is completely opposite in reliability.😂 Even if I was drunk and half blind I would still choose Mahindra without thinking too long. Mahindra just keeps working no matter what.
Poor Indians, anyone with a brain knows that the Tank 300 surpasses the Mahindra in every aspect by far. But the pitiful Indians don't think about improving their trash; they only know how to attack their opponents in a frenzy, trying to defend their pathetic pride. Indians with such a mentality deserve to be poor and backward.

Scorpio has much better softer ride than fortuner on road. But it has major basic flaws life ground clearance and the rear seat layout. They should have made it fold flat.
The worst waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who does not care about truth or reality but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions. There are people who no matter how much evidence we present to them are not in the capacity to understand and others are blinded by ego, hatred, and resentment and all they want is to be right even if they are not.
I’ll still doubt on longitivtiy of Chinese vehicle. On other hand Mahindra have proven record for being more robust and reliable products. In fact they’ve started taking over African markets lately.
I would definitely go for tank 300, its a masterpiece for its price, plus it got tons of potential for the off-road capability with just some small modifications. I've seen a few vid shows how strong it can be just out of box.
As an Indian, I must say, the Tank isn't bad. Infact for the price and the features both seems to be at par. Yes, the Mahindra boot space and the space utilisation sucks. I own one and know how living with one is. But yes the engine is smooth, ride comfortable and easy on the pocket. There are things that Mahindra could have done better, but then Mahindra cars are known for reliability. The Tank looks awesome, interiors looks great too, its just the payload I feel should have been better.
so why do you have to state 'As an Indian' whats the relevance? Did you designed the car? Or because the other car is made in China so you feel inferior
@@COD0307 No as an Indian we are very proud of Mahindra. People are very touchy here when it comes to Tata and Mahindra. Don't get me wrong, they do make good cars, but I think they still got a lot to do if they need to sell cars outside India. These cars are great in India, but would find it hard to sell outside India. I myself drive a Scorpio N so I very well know its flaws. The tank, we don't get it here. But yes at a few dollars more, the Tank makes more sense in Australia, with their driving conditions and safety norms. Im just proud of what Mahindra has done, building this as a side project considering that their actual money comes from farm equipment and trucks. The Indian brands being inferior to a Chinese brand is a bit hilarious. You just had to bring in racist angle. I acknowledged both of the cars shortcomings and their positives as an Indian, who likes it when they see their brands represented outside of the country
I removed my 3rd row of seats just two days back to do a long haul drive 900 kms with a fridge and sofa chair at the back. The space saved is.... Tremendous. Also the weight savings will accrue to better FE over time. Consider doing this if you are not a 'big' family man =)
The bat soup car will catch fire. You are talking about differential I am talking about the reliability of engine itself, hope the Crankshaft or valves don't bent. Indian engines are famed for out doing atleast 300k miles with basic mentainence. You will find Mahindra Bolero with 10 lakh aka 1 million km on board with basic mentainence even in hill side. Just remember that In Africa 49 Chinese companies had 85% market share when 2 Indian players penetrated African market those 2 Indian companies occupied 90% of African 2 wheeler market within 3 years. When Bat Soup goes in brain comes out 😂
there is no comparison, Tank 300 is only priced lower to capture market share as a new entrant to the market, materials to technology are way ahead of rivals. Other the other hand only a few thousand cheaper only the Scorpio is literally designed for low price no refill and no choosing market。people buys scorpio are families on budget

When you see Cars outside India you realise how these Indian Brands and also Foreign Brands are making a fool out of Indian Customers . They have kept us at the bare minimum whereas the world has moved past it . Mahindra Scorpio N is cheaper in Australia than India but even then it is hardly getting any buyers because they have tons of options . Chinese cars used to be unreliable and flimsy but they have learned & now they are putting out great products. I hope the Indian consumers learn so that these brands are forced to make decent products at a decent price point. Moreover , My fellow indians should stop being delusional and accept the reality
In my case, there is no contest. Tank 300 any day. The Mahindra looks like the 90’s revisited, its bargain basement price being the only point in its favour. There are an ever-increasing number of RU-vid videos from Russia where they tend to be blunt and to the point, and really put the cars through the wringer. The Tank has come out shining in all of these beatings, a great off-road platform that owners seem to take great delight in modifying in every conceivable way. Can’t wait for this to launch in South Africa. Looks like my Mazda CX-5 will be finding its replacement.
There are many videos of these in Russia because Russian people don't have choice, every other brand left Russia. And indian brands are afraid to go to Russia due to fear of losing european market. It's pretty easy to become king in the market where no one is to rival
Mahindras are highly reliable cars in India.. which are highly preferred as work cars and their pickups go to the remotest of locations. Tough and reliable cara mechanically.

Really feels like greatwall (GWM) hit a real winner without relying solely on price. If you were thinking about waiting for a 4 door Jimny, then the tank would be a worthy alternative
GWM has many elements copied from different vehicles like Headlamps seems to be copied from Ford Bronco and interior from Mercedes. Mahindra ScorpioN has its own pace nothing has been copied from anywhere. It's a GNCAP tested 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ machine and it has very reliable engine which will last for 7 Lakh kilometres.
Mahindra is a far, far better choice. It truly has the underpinnings of a tough off road vehicle whereas the Tank is a Mall parking lot "off road" vehicle. Also, Mahindra has a 2.2 L Diesel. No comparison. This reviewer is more interested in yuppie modern bling, bells and whistles. Old school "blingless" vehicles is what people want, not gimmicks. Regards from South Africa
I look at everything, not 'bling' mate. Tech, features, value for money, capability and practicality. The Mahindra might have it's appeal, but the Tank is better overall - Sam
MH Reliabity is impressive I've seen an Australian customer hitting one million miles in the xuv model without any issues he said he serviced the vehicle regularly and maintained it well

@@Countrysideboy247 rights to sell in India is not a copy. It's a copy only if the original owner didn't get anything. Mahindra bought the rights after paying money, right? Yes it is insulting to compare a shoddy Chinese car with Indian one. Indian one will out last 300k miles with basic mentainence, Chinese one will be scrapped under 90k miles.
@@gulag88 spot another delusional indian. It's almost like you didn't even bother to watch the video that showed how pathetic the functionality, drivability, and even safety features of your terribly made car is. 😅
Great review as always Sam, though I need to point out one very important factor you forgot to mention. Reliability. You only need to read the numerous group forums on the Mahindra Scorpio N sites to read owners concerns over build quality i.e., misaligned/excessive panel gaps, orange peel to paint, bad fitment of rubber seals around doors and windows and just recently, a major recall of this Scorpio and the XUV 700 to replace 11-12 bolts from the torque converter back down the drive shaft. Definitely a deal breaker for me. Oh, the only complaints from the Tank 300 members forums, is that they can't buy them fast enough! Bring on the Tank 300 PHEV!!
Mahindra have historically been reliable, however they were utilitarian and basic. Now that they want to transition to lifestyle motoring they need to understand that the clientele is sophisticated and expects more. I think they wanted to ride the Chinese vehicle wave and they brought the Scorpio N too soon to market. While it's a big improvement compared to the previous model, it has major deficiencies.
@@devendersuhag6968 GCap is only used in India. It has been a notorious standard that the safety rating can be purchased via corrupt official. No one recognise GCAP outside India
The road presence, the sitting position of driver & driving experience of scorpion is way ahead in comparision of these scrap. Once you get all these feature, the rest of the supplementary features dosent matter. For a new buyer, one must test drive scorpion then i am dead sure no one will able to refuse it.

Review is from the angle of a family car and it is quite accurate toh, but if we see it from the perspective of a couple or a lone wolf their could be different opinions in terms of practicality with just slight adjustments, in the ScorpioN third row off and always an option to bend second row as well you get a huge boot space that can used as a camper too and not to forget the engine difference which can make a lot of difference in long trips and off roading.
As an indian i respect Mahindra an indian company, Scorpio really sell well here in india. IMHO i like Tank 300 in this comparison, it looks good both from inside and outside, would really love to see it in our loving country India...
