Always enjoy your videos, instruction, and enthusiasm, Lisa. Autumn is most peoples favorite weather season. We have a great farmers market in our area and I love to go there to pick up my fall decor, keeping it natural. We don’t “do” Halloween, so I can continue my Autumn decor into Thanksgiving. Such a cozy feeling. Right now, we are experiencing the tropical storm, but mostly normal amounts of rain and some wind. My summer flowers will be toast after this, so I think it’s now time to usher in those corn stalks, pumpkins, apples, and cozy blankets! Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Thank you for not scolding us about wanting to decorate for fall. So many designers discourage anything but a few branches in a vase. Your ideas are vey upscale. Love it!
Hi Lisa. I can't wait to build my vignettes for Fall. I put my wreath that I made last year, for Fall, on the door last night so I'm right on time to decorate that. For my interior, I was settled until now, to keep a Spring/Summer ornamentation all throughout my vignettes because it looked simple enough to go with my colonial furniture. But I always got frustrated with the Fall/Halloween/Christmas and late Winter themes. I didn't know how to make them look right. You know just how to educate your students, and I'm glad I watched this video. This informative lesson opens up all those possibilities. I can't wait to get creative. I look forward to you explaining further on how to theme vignettes for Halloween, Christmas, and the late Winter seasons. I know already, I'll be delighted to show them off! Thank you.
Although autumn is my favorite time of the year I would prefer "fall" decor that lasts all year long and I don't have to put away when the season is over. Any ideas for that would be appreciated!
I so agree. Some items are too pretty to Put away. And so I don’t. My ceramic holiday tree is out all year. I have glass shelving in the kitchen and each curio has a different vignette. Fall spring winter. I just won’t store my beautiful glsss pumpkins or hide my holiday teapots. They don’t belong in a box. Keep it out create a vignette. Happy holidays!
Thanks Lisa. I pull out my garden shears and a cardboard box and hunt for dried plants in abandoned fields. Always free and saves the environment from plastic decor.
...you are my idole " free and saves the environement from plastic" ... hopefully, thousands of people will follow your example (beginning by: ME!) :)) helene
For those of us with fragrance sensitivities, a great way to get your space smelling autumnal is to make cinnamon buns 😋 … but if you can’t be bothered to do that, just put some cinnamon in a pot of boiling water, and let it rest on the stove for 10 minutes or so (you could add some orange slices or vanilla). 🙂
Love the elegant vignettes, and the lunaria in a vase…simple. Unfortunately, you would choke at the box of scarecrows, cornicopias, autumn garlands and pumpkins, that get unleashed here, but it goes with the carving contests. Maybe in my next life. Lol
Love the explanation & examples you gave of when to use color & when to use form to decorate for an upcoming season or holiday. It makes perfect sense and doesn't leave us with homes that look like a mishmash of everything. Good vignette tips! Actually our sense of smell is a huge memory trigger, even if we have trouble placing the exact memory. Thank you so much.
Yeah! Yummy Yummy Yummy! Also Rachel Roy- Roy not Ray- has awesome super thick faux fur super plush, super soft blankets at HomeGoods and TJ Maxx. Bought one for every child last Christmas its their favorite blanket! Great for fall! 🍁🍂
Hi! 😃How do I shop the fall decor? Above it says, "👉🏻Wanna SHOP fall decor in this video? It's all tagged when you open the description!" Where is the description? Thanks!
Great question! If you pop onto the channel on a laptop, you will see the store shown in the lower left corner of the video saying "view products" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wlqqQE9I--U.html. YAY!
I have a question, I’m 50+ and I’m redoing my room, just for me. I want a black and white room, pink and gold. Chanel is my inspiration. So, not on trend , although I’ve managed to find many amazing items that will work. I’m going with a tailored look with a bit of sass! Is this juvenile? I’ve been told this colour palette is for a teenager. Please tell me what you think.
NO, you should go for it! come check out my dezignspace.com site, right now it's FREE, and there are tons of resources that will help you wrangle that style into something perfect for you!
You are dynamite! I love watching your videos. I work for a homewares/ Manchester chain in Australia and I pass on to my customers your design tips. Thank you.
Although I may add small touches of orange in the form of multi colored gourds or small pumpkins, as a college football fan my my primary way of decorating for fall involves adding bits of my favorite team’s school colors, which go well with my normal color scheme as accents. I also switch out summer florals for yellow button mums and blue asters, both of which are fall flowers. My favorite candles to add are those that smell like a wood fire, since I don’t have a fireplace, along with some chunky throws.
Colour or form? FAN-tastic Ms Lisa!!! Textiles! Throw pellows, jetes, fluffy or not...pumpkins in white!!! Smell K.I.S.S. omg! I do not fancy Fall time usually but with your elegant yet simple tips; I AM delighted! Bring in Fall!! Thank you SO much Ms Lisa!!! helene (from Qc, Canada!) :)
Thanks again Lisa - fabulous tips - just wondering though, displaying “wood on wood” I.e. wooden tray on wooden table - I have trouble with this - seems like too much wood LoL - maybe a video project - Happy Fall ☺️
When you recommend what you consider to be the "best" products, like a sofa, do you do it purely by the look of the sofa or do you also judge it based on comfort or the construction of the piece (is it a solid wood frame, mdf, plywood, etc). It's probably impossible to sit on and examine every product but how do you determine whether the products you love are also well made?
