I recommend using painters tape before you remove the original emblems to line off the edges to help with putting the new ones on perfectly level in the exact same spot.
Very well explained --- THANKS. I almost didn't try this because of the challenges you had getting the rubber trim popped back out after putting the 6 inch painted trim piece (that the "H" symbol is connected to) back on. You used your plastic trim "pop off too"l to pry the rubber trim back out -- but you had what looked like a pretty tough challenge getting it back out of the seam. Instead of using your approach, I put a strip of painters tap -- glue side facing up -- over the rubber trim. Then put another strip of painters tape, covering 1/2 the width of the previous strip of tape (just to make the painters tape wider than I strip would provide), and then to pull the tape away from the work area, I put some small pieces of tape running straight up, onto the back window, to pull my strips of tape up and away. Once I got the 6" plastic trim piece snapped back onto the car, I just pulled the painters tape off the rubber trim, and it fell right back into place without being squeezed into the gap that you were struggling to get the rubber trim out of. Everything else worked great, just like you showed. Thanks again.
Very well explained and looks great! I painted the emblem black on my 2016 crv without removing the trim just slowly pulling it out, luckily the washers fell out where the license plate lights are but this looks much more professional.
After removing the emblems with floss you know it's much easier to just heat the remaining foam lightly with the heat gun and it would come off a lot easier vs. trying to manually roll it off with your fingers.
Yes. But it's not going to less lol. I made it permanent. It will less for years. I was looking just to get dipped too but it's only less max 2 years or so. Paint will fade too. Car washes will pill it of slowly.
Great video, but one important thing that you should do is make a template of the emblem prior to removal so you know exactly where to put it back instead of just eyeballing it like you did. Adjust horizontal position of the emblems as well with leveler tool while you were making a template coz sometime they are crooked straight from the factory.
@@IvanRossS Put masking tape around the emblem strategically from the taillights vertically and horizontally so you know exactly where the C starts or where the V Stops. Remove the masking tape before you do the removal or emblems and clean up, then lay the masking tape back on the trunk again so you now know exactly where to put the emblem back. Align the emblem horizontally by using a leveler and make adjustments if required. Emblems always appear crooked when it’s not aligned horizontally.
My goodness, what a pain for just swap little plastic letter. My Honda Passport is just pull the emblem of with plastic lever, clean the spot then push new one in.
I definitely agree with a pain in the butt but there is a way to get around it. By just simply pulling out and breaking H logo.. and replacing it with a new one But you have a chance to ruin some things. Put scratches on pain. And I believe 3M double tape not really going to hold it properly being so thin on the back of the new logo
Just plasti-dipped mine after seeing the pdf instructions on Honda site. Sport model has blacked out “sport badge” it should have the others blacked out from the factory
Dude im pretty sure you didnt have to take off the whole inside of your car and just used floss around the emblem, pop it off and put black one in its place. Ive never see someone pop off the whole inside of there car
You don't have to. You can Ridgid pretty much everything. And do a half ass job I show it how it needs to be done by the book... you can find these manuals all over Honda website... and this is proper way !
Also you probably have not noticed or you didn't finish watching the whole video but Honda emblem holds by two metal washers from the inside and those are really hard to remove.... to proper secure it have to be be the same way installing emblem and securing with two little washers from the inside.... emblem is really thin and just 3M tape is not going to hold it after a couple of pressure washers it will fall off
@@IvanRossSvery true, im just gona have the dealership do it bc i dont feel confident in taking the door apart. I would probably break the pegs off trying to take the emblem off anyway. Appreciate the video

how did you do it? we just got the '23 pilot trailsport. wanting to replace the chrome H mark with a gloss black one. do i need to open the inside of the trunk or i can pry the emblem directly?

Hey Ivan, just wondering if you check your CRV underbody? I know that Toyota has the thing called under body plug (under about in passenger and driver under body) that is part of PDI inspection to plug it in. Reason I asked is because mine didn't get installed and just wondering if you can look up yours and to see if you have the body plug installed? Thank you beforehand!
Double tape was made by 3M. You can buy it at any hardware store And blue paint was simply nail polish... yes I know it's not a great choice lol. Because it's going to be on direct sun but we'll see how long it's going to last. But you can buy any enamel base blue paint. You can find a little small jars of this type of paint at the craft stores. For only few dollars
@@NinjaAlex6r I was thinking about it. I'm sure soon it will be sticker available that you can just put over it. It shouldn't mess with a radar. but over all that logo been chrome don't look to bad
