We have been on a bit of a hiatus due to some personal issues. We actually recorded these video clips in late August - early September but have just now gotten around to putting them together. Thanks for your patience!
We had a great honey harvest this year. We extracted almost 7 gallons of honey from our 8 hives. The bees are doing well and are all buttoned up for winter.

You got around 7 gallons of honey just from those few frames that you showed at the end ? I’m just trying to get into bee keeping but to me that seems like a good haul.

We got 7 gallons from about 15 frames. There were a few more than we showed. We were very conservative with the amount we pulled - wanted to leave plenty for the bees. We could have easily pulled about 4 more gallons, but we were happy with what we got. We're not selling honey, and that was enough to share with friends and family.

What is the make and model of the extractor you are using? The ones I have found are extremely expensive. Thanks.

It's an SAF Regata Extractor for Layens Frames. We got it from Miller Bee Supply in Wilkesboro, NC. We were able to pick it up, so there was no shipping cost for us. They are a 3rd generation bee supplier and actually make their wooden ware - including Layens frames - right here in NC.
