The 2023 Jeep Compass has often been overlooked, especially when compared to the recently discontinued Jeep Cherokee. Nothing was wrong with the Compass; rather, there were too many things right with the Cherokee. Prospective buyers likely found the Renegade too small and the Grand Cherokee too big, leaving them with the somewhat similarly-sized options of the Compass and Cherokee, with the latter offering more power and towing capability. Now, the Compass finds itself as the sole provider for Jeep’s compact class.
Jeep decided to sink the old and shoddy Tigershark engine and replace it with something significantly stronger with better fuel efficiency. In 2022, the Compass received a major refresh giving it a slightly upscale look and feel, so the Jeep peeps strategically positioned it, likely knowing the end was nigh for the Cherokee.
