In this video i solve the complete Cambridge IGCSE ICT 0417 June 2023 practical paper 31
A great resource for all students taking this exam. A link to the question paper and source files can be found at the bottom of the description.
For this paper i used Excel for the Spreadsheet section and Dreamweaver for the web design and style sheets, however, as this particular paper only requires coding then you can use this tutorial irrespective of what software you use.

@@Iamsooosmart certainly answering past papers will help you improve your exam technique and help you with understanding what the questions are asking you to do. My suggestion to you however is to make sure you have a good understanding of the skills that have been added to the new syllabus. Solve and learn 5 paper 2's and 5 paper 3's (latest years) and you will do great.

Hey I have a question, For the spreadsheet formating, for rows 1 and 13 with the grey background text, the marking scheme stated that the formating should be bold italic 16 point, how can i figure out the exact value of the size or is it not important (approximate)??

Question 2 specifically states that rows 1 and 13 must be 16 points. See the question paper here at time stamp 07:08. look at the end of question 2

Well done on paper 2. you put in the work which is why it was easy. Keep in mind that charts could come up in paper 3 also. i have a tutorial on charts only. It depends what you are going for. A pass or a grade you can be proud of? Theory is tricky if you dont put the effort in because it depends on the way the question is asked and what they are looking for in an answer. Doing past papers will definately help if you do them properly but unfortunately there are no shortcuts. You have to study and understand the theory so that you can understand it.

it is very hard to make a prediction but if we follow the pattern of the papers based on the new syllabus, then you need to make sure you know the more recent skills. things like: Powerpoint: Action buttons, links, Charts: make sure you know how to generate detailed charts with multiple chart types ( i have a tutorial on this) Webdesign: the tags in the head section (i have a tutorial on this) and stylesheets. quite a bit comes up on tables attributes in stylesheets Spreadsheets: that is a difficult one as the recent questions are focused more on problem solving and not knowledge of functions these are just areas that the new syllabus has put emphasis on.

if it says place a copy then copy and paste the code. You only use a screenshot if it specifically says to place a screenshot of your code. So in this paper you would copy the code and paste it in the evidence document.

There a re so many variations of questions that can be asked and i am afraid that students will only focus on an answered paper which will not help if the question is put in a different context.

@@al3frit Best resource would be to look through question papers and their mark sheets. Remember that the mark-sheets are not the model answers but what they expect to see in your answer. The short answer questions are based on knowledge. The long answer questions are the tricky ones. students tend to repeat the same point over and over in different ways instead of focusing on expanding their answer. If the question is 6 marks and it want advantages and disadvantages then you need to specify multiple different advantages and disadvantages, not one and explain in 4 different ways why that 1 is an advantage. The mark sheet will tell you that you need to identify 6 and they can not be all disadvantages or advantages.

I demonstrated adding the Header and footer at 06:09 during the making of the video i had to recreate the spreadsheet and worked quickly through the paper to get to the point i was at to continue. Skipped adding the Header and Footer again which is why there is not Header / Footer visible in the printout. Nicely spotted.

Your laptop is not the issue. If you are using excel then it will be there providing you have multiple categories in your selection for the chart. Download the files for the paper and follow the tutorial. I also have a tutorial only on Charts which includes everything you need for the exam.

Are you using the online version of Excel? If yes that is you problem. The combo is only available for the desktop version of Excel.
