I'm so sick of parallel-twin everything today that I applaud Kawasaki for making this machine. I bet there were some tense moments in the product planning meetings, trying to justify the business case and push it through. I hope they sell gazillions of them.

Agreed. 15 years ago, parallel twins were the “sucks ass” option… now, they’re like the go-to for new bike designs for most manufacturers… it’s like they made a “success” out of “sucks ass”! It’s not right.

@@Tom_Moxon I grew up in the era of ZZR's and if there's one thing Kawasaki did better than anything was engines. And then for some reason they went as boring as shit. A couple of the modern ones that I've ridden have been OK, like the Ninja 1000sx or the Z900. But a Z900 isn't in the same league or 'fun factor' as the MT09.

@@I_am_Thursday I loved my 2020 Z900... it was not bonkers, but so solid... on the track on street tires it gave me (an intermediate rider) the most confidence I have had of any bike. I sold it and got a 2022 S1000R, and in a lot of ways, I still miss the Z900.

I will continue riding for as long as I have my full faculty and am sure of my ability to do it safely for me and those I share the roads with. I know its expensive for what it is. I know that if I ever got one that it'd be the detuned version. I know that the Ninja ZX 400 R is a better all-around road bike. I know flashing the ECU would immediately void the warranty. I know that at 6' 3", I might be a little large for such a small bike. I know that I'd get questions like "Why not just get a 600?" I do not care. God, I still want a ZX 400 RR... As someone who's a massive fan of small-dispalcement 70's, 80's and 90's Japanese four-cylinders, this one simply hits all of the right chords for me.

Zack, this is a video idea for you and Ari: Sport standard vs Supersport. In which you could feature the Ninja 400, Ninja 650 and Ninja 1000 to their supersport counterparts, the ZX4RR, ZX6R and the ZX10R. It would be a perfect video to compare and contrast the strengths/weaknesses, features and so on all while exploring the Ninja DNA between models. I understand it would likely be a logistic nightmare, but it would surely be worth it. Something in the style of your ZX6R + Z900 vs R6 + FZ09 video would be fun. It's just the perfect opportunity since the ZX4RR has finally made an appearance and became that supersport counterpart to the Ninja 400. Make it happen! 😁 Zack, you and Ari are a freaking hoot to watch and I know you guys would knock this video out of the park too. Ride safe to you two and all of the Revzilla team. ✌️

except for the fact that the reason why the US spec was less powerful is different. the integra R was less powerful in the US cause the US had tighter emission standards than the EU/Japan. for motorcycles Euro5 is way stricter than what the US currently has. so emission regs ain't the reason the US spec is less powerful. this time the reason is that the EU sped is tuned for 95 RON gasoline, which is equivalent to 91 octane in the US as the US uses AKI, as that is the worst gas you can buy in the EU.

Watching your videos is such a treat... the bike is just the bonus. By the way, I test rode one recently and my favorite thing about the ZX4RR is that it does everything that an inline 4 sportbike does, except does it at a much safer speed. A beginner would be safe on it coz they'll get the exhilaration and feel like they're going really fast when they're actually only doing legal speeds. This has re-whet my appetite like I had for the Yamaha FZR 400 back in the 90s. This is definitely one of those that is a must have because of the unique 4 cylinder engine like you said Zack. The only thing that it lacks is the aluminum frame like the FZR 400. If I run out of house projects then this will be allocated to the budget. You definitely described the intent of this bike. Great job!

A corvette and a Lambo are sports cars. A corvette is on every corner as well as V8’s. A Lambo is not on every corner and it offers a V12. What pulls on your heart strings. A true enthusiast would go for the exclusive engine/bike. Some customers looking for a no drama dependable commute machine. Others seek adventure with each ride with the engine sound the music not your playlist.

This Kawasaki ZX-4RR was made for track days and for twisty, lonely roads where there is almost no traffic. It's almost a crime he didn't tap up through the gears, but I get it. Nobody wants to lose their license and their job. A great bike to not kill yourself on but to have those MotoGP dreams come true, at least for a few turns. It is special. It would have been even more special with a fully adjustable suspension.

I currently have an FZ-10 and a Ninja 300. Every time I get on the ninja, the lightness and fun still comes through but I always wish it had a bit more power. I want this bike to succeed but at this price thats going to stop a lot of people shopping that doesn't see what all the enthusiasts see, but we need those non-enthusiasts to pick the bike to fill out some of those sales. In a country where people are led to believe that if you weigh 250lbs you NEED a hayabusa to get anywhere, this lil guy is fighting an uphill battle. I think getting the price down to 7500-8k would set it up as an actual value pick. I know thats not what this is supposed to be but at the end of the day, sales are sales and kawasaki is still a business.

Zack didnt even have much of a chance to actually go through the gears on the zx4rr, pretty much just rev out the first gear and then shift up to start cruising because you are already too fast for riding in a city.

Respect to Zach for giving this a fair shake, even if it isn’t his jam. This bike is right up my alley, but like he said, even if it isn’t what you want, we should all just be happy bikes like this are getting made, especially today. Zach, if you read this, I’m curious about how much your elbows block the view in the mirrors, both upright and in the tuck. I ride a ninja 300 currently, if you remember the mirror situation of that one. I guess a comparison to the ninja 400 would be very close.

yeah If it wasn’t 10k+. A much better argument could be made for 8 other bikes, with the lowered power numbers the MT03, MT07, MT09, the Z400, Z650, Z900. GSXs750 or even a GSXS1000 for about a grand more. The GSXS1000 is the only bike that’s more expensive that i listed. A “streetable” sportbike is an oxymoron. A Triumph Daytona 675r with abs with less than 10k miles can be had for under $6k. There’s no good argument to be made for this little bike until it’s cheaper except “cool” but what isn’t cool about these others?
